Lovely rural farmhouse near Lessay and close to great beaches

Bedrooms 3
Property type farmhouse
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Normandy lifestyle at its best.

This lovely farmhouse offers the best of two holidays. Located in a quiet hamlet it is easy to enjoy the French rural lifestyle with safe lanes for cycling, a number of market towns, and a local farmer who sells home made cider! The house is also only 9km from a range of fantastic sandy beaches with the nearest being at Pirou and St Germain Sur Ay.

The farmhouse has recently been rewired and redecorated to provide comfortable accommodation and this is the first year of being made available for rental. We are regular visitors to french markets to discover furniture and bits and pieces to make it feel like being in France. The house has three bedrooms - a double, twin and a third with bunk beds. There is also an upstairs toilet. On the ground floor is a kitchen diner which, with a wood burner, acts as the heart of the house. There is also a living room with french doors onto the rear patio and garden. The bathroom is downstairs with a bath and shower plus a separate toilet. There is also a large garage which contains bikes, bar b q, football goals and body boards for your use.

The gardens are a real plus in that there are large front and rear grassed areas which are ideal for games and entertaining. It would also be possible to pitch a tent on the garden if additional people were visiting during your stay.

The house is semi-detached with its neighbour property being used by a French family as their holiday home.

The house has electric heating in addition to the wood burner. There is a TV which can play DVDs but is not connected to receive TV channels. There are lots of DVDs to play plus books to read.

The local area has something to interest everyone. The beaches are sandy and gently shelving and so safe for children. There are also lots of watersports centres and stables providing horse riding. The nearby towns of Lessay, Perier, St Lo, Coutances (and many others) offer local shops, good value restaurants, leisure facilities, and cultural events. The Normandy Beaches are close and obviously worth visiting. The sea food is superb especially the moules frites! Champres Zoo is worth a visit with children as is Alligator Bay and Mont St Michel. Bird watching is very rewarding given the various landscapes including the Carentan marshes.

There is much more to say about what is on offer and so please feel free to contact us directly.

lovely restored farmhouse with a big garden

  • 5 of 5

The holiday home is an old farmhouse located in a small village of the Normandy close to the sea with beautiful beaches. The house is lovely restored and furnished with space for a whole family (up to six person) and has a big garden (in front and at the back of the house) with outdoor furniture to relax.

The equipment of the house and garden is outstanding! There is a barbecue, bikes for the whole family to use, plenty of games like a football table, boule, complete football and badminton facilities and countless movies to watch in the evening or as alternative when it’s raining.

The owners are very kind and friendly and to contact them is also uncomplicated.

This lovely farmhouse is to fully recommend anytime and we would always book it again! Thank you!!!

Beautiful rustic farmhouse near beach.

  • 5 of 5

We would really recommend this lovely rustic farmhouse as an opportunity to experience the history and culture of the Normandy coast. The house was very comfortable, tastefully decorated and well equipped. We stayed there around Easter time and the weather was warm enough for the children to swim in the sea. They also enjoyed Easter egg hunting in the beautiful large sunny garden. We would definitely go back again.

Beautiful & charming retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and were very fortunate to stay at this charming French farm house for our honeymoon. The journey over on the ferry from Poole was easy and the car ride to the property was less than an hour but you really felt as though you were deep into the French countryside. The house is easy to find and beautifully situated with rolling views all round. The gardens are large and plenty enough for a full family to have fun in, esp with the generous amount of toys, bikes and other fun things stored in the garage! The house itself is beautifully decorated and in keeping with the rustic ideal. It's clean and spacious and very homely with a cosy wood fire in the kitchen that just draws you in in the evenings. The bedrooms are well decorated and comfortable with extra blankets should you need them. The situation of the house is ideal, as you feel as though you've pulled back from the busy rush of the world but just 10 minutes down the road are several supermarkets, some resturants and lovely little shops to meet all needs. Then the beaches are incredibly close too with miles of sand and clear waters. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend to anyone wishing for a rural stay but with plenty to do if wanted. We look forward to returning with our family :)

Fabulous French Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Easy drive from Cherbourg, close to lovely quiet beach resorts, location on outskirts of small village. Great for cycling with some typically French restaurants (especially moules frittes) by the beach. The house has everything you need a real home from home. We loved the space, inside and out and would recommend to friends, well done Ali and Graham, we'd love to come stay again soon. The Haydocks, Stroud.

Lovely authentic famhouse near beach

  • 5 of 5

We had a really relaxing and fun break here in August. Everything about the farmhouse is just as described and the owners were really helpful with information, directions and guidance about the area.

The house provides an excellent base for a family or group of friends to explore the nearby beaches and countryside. It is furnished in simple, French country style that is both charming and very comfortable. All conveniences are provides and there's lots of hot water. The gardens are truly child and pet friendly which makes for an anxiety-free stay.

We had a great time exploring the local villages, attending markets and numerous brocantes and antique shops in Coutances and Granville. And the beaches are delightful. Even in August they were quiet and unspoilt, yet the really funky beach bar in Le Shed made for a fun apres-swim with music and great beach food.

If you like watersports, cycling and walking the area is fantastic and the farmhouse is a great place to come back to in the evening, to enjoy a welcome drink and dinner on the patio and enjoy the peace and lovely local views. We would really recommend this house if you want a holiday in an unspoilt, yet accessible French village.

Quiet rural idyl

  • 4 of 5

This secluded spot in a pleasant rural area was just what we were looking for in order to enjoy the French lifestyle. With plenty of space both inside and out this was the perfect setting for a quiet relaxing holiday. The farmhouse was characterful, clean and well appointed with sunny rooms and extensive gardens. The area is lovely and flat for cycling trips with little traffic; the local towns of Lessay and Periers had fantastic food shops; and the extensive sandy beach at Pirou was just a 9km drive away. Would recommend!
