How wonderful for Thanksgiving, Christmas or any other holiday.

About Kate Rose

My husband and I purchased Southwest at Little Harbor 19 years ago. We have made many improvements on the home over the years, keeping the integrity and quintessential feel of the 'old classic' in tact. We purchased the home so that our two sons could get a chance to really know their very large family. It was important for us to have our sons know their grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We do not live in the area anymore and to be able to have the large space to have everyone gather was a dream. We realized that this home would be a great place also for other families to get together. So we are now available for family reunions, vacations, special occasions, small intimate weddings and Corporate Workshops and Retreats. Go to www.southwestatlittleharbor.com to learn more.

Since we are open year round, we have since started Cooking at Kate's, which runs from October through May. Cooking at Kate's is a weekend dinner party, part cooking class and a whole lot of fun. This all inclusive weekend getaway for groups of 8-12 people. THIS IS NOT A BED AND BREAKFAST. You get the whole house to enjoy with your favorite people. From the Welcome Cape Cod Friday Night Dinner, to the continental breakfast on Saturday morning, to the Interactive Culinary Cooking on Saturday evening, the Sunday brunch, and accommodations for two nights, Cooking at Kate's is definitely a weekend to experience. www.cookingatkates.com to learn more. The cost is $600 per person.

Why Kate Rose chose Wareham

The home is in an ideal location, close to almost everything the Cape, South Coast, Newport, Plymouth and Boston have to offer. Great spot for day trips to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Near the best lobster roll in the country. Warm and safe water.

And no traffic.....

What makes this house unique

Getting to our home and never being in traffic. This is true all the time -

Enjoying a glass of wine and a lobster dinner on our 80 foot deck. Swimming all day and evening. Windsurfing, kayaking, golfing, biking, hiking right outside your front door. Large enough for all ages to enjoy each other. Gourmet and fully stocked kitchens. Private Chef available (additional expense) to have you enjoy family and friends and enjoy any type of meal you desire.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“ We celebrated my wife’s 70th birthday and our 1st family reunion in mid June and it couldn’t have been a more perfect weekend!! My wife and I , our 6 children and their spouses, and our 11 grandchildren, all felt it was the most memorable weekend ever. The house set up was perfectly and incredibly appointed. Even with all our family, there was always plenty of room for all – young and old – to play, eat, sleep and be together. The views are majestic and the beach and the clear calm water were but steps away. We only needed to supply food as everything else needed came with the house. The area was private and made you feel special. I’m sure we’ll return – hopefully with the whole gang for another great time!!”

Lovely surroundings. The setting is magical. The location of the home is fabulous. You don’t have to wait in traffic for hours. You settle in and have the opportunity to visit any location on your time. Day trips are so simple, that is if you even want to leave house. Red Sox games, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Newport, Boston, Plymouth and the list goes on. 45 golf courses in the surrounding areas and an 18 hole course st the beginning of driveway!!

beyond our expectations!!

  • 5 of 5

There were eight of us who had not seen each other for awhile and we chose Kate's as a "destination" event worth travelling for! One woman came from Montreal but the rest from the Boston area. Upon arrival the smell of vegetable soup simmering on the stove was a "warm" welcome! Everyone arrived at different times so the cheese platter/meats/grapes/fresh breads/nuts were perfect! Everyone gravitated to the deck overlooking the bay and sipped wine until the sun set. Dinner was superb!! The salad that accompanied the soup was exquisite! The evening cooled off so lighting a fire in both dining room and living room finished off our evening.

Saturday was started with fresh fruit/coffee cake/juice/coffee and assorted cereals and yogurt, just perfect. It was a gorgeous day and we all enjoyed long walks and relaxation on the deck/beach which both had ample Adirondack chairs.

Saturday evening was one of the most entertaining and hands on enjoyable nights that many of us needed! Laughter was abundant and the food was as expected over the top!! We helped prepare two appetizers consisting of baby clams/broccoli rabe crostini, crab arugula with avocado both mixed with amazing melon/garlic/ricotta blended mixtures. Dinner involved mushroom risotto with pancetta, shrimp scampi, fresh carrots with tarragon and garlic with the main dish being beef tenderloin all just scrumptious!

Val was expert in her wine pairing and vast knowledge of the wines being served!

We finished the weekend with a delicious brunch which included quiche/fresh fruit bowl/bagels/bacon and home fries. Nobody left hungry that is for certain!

The home itself was very welcoming and comfortable. All bedrooms had an ocean view. I enjoyed waking to the ocean waves and the sound of seagulls!!

This most assuredly should be a planned destination for any group of good friends or co-workers!!!

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

There were 14 of us and we all loved the house. Two kitchens and 3 refrigerators were perfect along with the bedrooms all having water views and the house was extremely clean which we're very particular about. We got rained out one day but the house is so large and roomy that we weren't on top of each other and the fire places were another nice amenity. We all had such a great time we will be back.

Wonderful Weekend Away

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing property, this is our 6th., year renting this property and it has never disappointed us. We get together once a year for a long weekend away to our favorite place to play golf and watch the sunrise and sunsets on the back deck while overlooking the ocean. It is truly a special place. Looking forward to next year!

Astonishingly beautiful venue for a family event

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful stay!

When my fiancee and I were looking at potential venues for an intimate wedding celebration, it was easy for us to agree on this. It is a beautiful home, with enough private sleeping space for our immediate families, a well-stocked kitchen for bonding over meal-time, and a large backyard with panoramic ocean views for the ceremony itself.

Working with Kate (the owner) was easy and friction free. She answered our questions promptly, gave us insights based on previous experiences, and was flexible and accommodating.

All of our guests were in awe of the home, the property and the weekend as a whole. Absolutely perfect for our needs!
