Truly a home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent one week in this wonderful apartment. It is decorated so nicely that we felt at home immediately.

If NYC didn't have so much to offer, we'd have spend more time inside - so don't be afraid of rainy days on your visit.

Herkimer St is not the most beautiful in the area, but what really counts is the fact that we were always pleased to come home to this cozy place after a long and tiring day in the 5 boroughs.

Perfect apartment in Brooklyn, New York City

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week in this apartment and we enjoyed it a lot. Its location is perfect (close to a subway station with direct trains to Manhattan) and the apartment itself was very comfortable and well-equipped.

Great apartment on a great location

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place to stay, really close to the subway.

We are a family of 5, the place was perfect for us and Cheryl was very helpful. The location of the apartment is just perfect, after you have spent all day walking in NY the last thing you want to do is walk a long distance from the subway to the apartment, it takes 2 minutes to walk to the apartment from the subway.

The kitchen is very well equipped, mum loved she could cook breakfast for the 5 of us before heading out.

The apartment looked exactly like the photos listed, no misleading information, and this location is safe.

Everything you need is walking distance, groceries, laundry, subway and everything you might need

I am really placed I found this place, it was great experience in NY and Cheryl was great and the best host.

Thank you from the 5 of us

Three of us stayed at this apartment for a week in June, 2013.

Fantastic experience!

The apartment is about a 2-minute walk to the subway. Next to the subway is a drugstore that has an OK selection of food and is open until 10 pm. There is also a large grocery store a block down the street that is open until 8 pm.

The owner, Cheryl, was very helpful and friendly during our stay. Just as important, she was easy to communicate with by email beforehand. Master bedroom is as lovely as pictured and the bed is very comfortable. Kitchen probably has anything you need to cook with. The living room is comfortable and stocked with useful tourist information.

If I could put 4.5 stars instead of 5, I would take away 1/2 star for the bed in the small bedroom. It is probably fine for a child or a skinny young person. I had the luxurious master bedroom the first 5 nights and then when our third person arrived for the last two nights, moved to the small bedroom. I couldn't sleep in that bed and eventually moved (at 4 am) to the very comfortable living room couch. The next morning, the person who had been in the small bedroom the first 5 nights (and he's a lot younger than I am) admitted that he had had trouble with that bed, too. (I had a great night's sleep the seventh night in the living room.)

However, I'm not willing to call the apartment 4 starts instead of 5 just for that bed. Everything else about it is excellent.

For anyone who wants to use the subways to tromp around NYC all day, I heartily recommend this apartment.

This home away from home worked great for us!

  • 5 of 5

We three senior women from California enjoyed spending a week in our own third floor flat of a family home. Cheryl and Mark were wonderfully generous, informative hosts who had answers for any questions we came up with. The flat was super clean, bright, cheerful, and a welcome haven to return to after each day of walking all over amazing NYC. The well equipped kitchen worked fine for leisurely breakfasts making up our daily plans, and as a cozy retreat in the evenings when we did not have other plans. The location--very near a subway stop--, the layout, the amenities were as pictured in the listing. And for those on a tight budget (including us) it was such a good value in a very expensive city.

Do be comfortable carrying bags up to the third floor on old wooden stairs, and be comfortable in a very urban setting. We would definitely return if we have another chance to explore NYC further.
