Secluded Mountain home, three bedrooms, three bath (Jacuzzi tub in main bath) with two of the bedrooms Huge Master suites. Private 6 person hot-tub on deck. Totally secluded. Come give us a try! One of the best deals in North Georgia mountain vacation rentals.
Located about 2 miles off of Hwy 52 running between Amicalola Falls State Park and Ellijay. At the end of a private gravel road, surrounded by 20 acres of unspoiled hardwood forest loaded with wildlife and plant diversity. Fantastic views throughout the property. This is secluded mountain living at its best. Not another building in sight.
. Beautiful hardwood flooring everywhere, twenty foot ceiling in the prow front living room looking out onto a spacious deck. A 6 person spa/hot-tub is located on the deck next to the fire pit and the charcoal grill.
With three futons (two in the lofts and one more in the downstairs TV room) as well as three full sized couches this roomy home can easily accommodate up to 14 people if needed. Both master suites have queen beds and large private baths. The third bathroom has a large Jacuzzi tub as well. All bathrooms have slate or travertine flooring. Two large water heaters make sure that you'll never run out of hot water.
The first floor master suite includes a private, 14’ X 28’ screened porch with fans and a comfortable outdoor sitting room of wicker furniture and a game or snack table.
The living room has a gas log fireplace with stone hearth, a 20’ high ceiling with the large loft area looking on to it from either side of the stairway with each side comprising a cozy nook for reading, playing games or sleeping on either of the comfortable futons there. A HDTV 50’ plasma screen equipped with a home theater DVD/audio system is located in the living room as well with a library of DVD and VHS movies. Rustic, but comfortable furnishings abound. Original artwork hangs on the walls and numerous custom details like the back lit onyx bathroom counter and sink or the inlaid patterns in the hardwood flooring add the sense of decadent luxury without detracting from the natural beauty and seclusion of the home and location.
A full kitchen with all utensils, plates, coffeemaker, dishwasher and makes preparing meals and entertaining fun and easy. Both a breakfast counter and the large round 6 person dining table allow for relaxed serving and flow during meals.
The walkout basement area contains the washer/dryer and a large game room area including a ping-pong table, darts and a second HDTV flat screen with DVD and VHS connected. This downstairs HDTV also has input ports on the front panel for connecting to video games if the kids wish to do that. The whole house is wired for cable.
The well maintained, gravel driveway and large parking area can hold 5 cars.
A mowed grassy meadow adjacent to the house has it’s own wooden deck and 12 person picnic table with fire pit. This location is perfect for lawn games, cookouts, watching the sunset across the valley and stargazing in the clear, north Georgia nights.
The end-of–the-road seclusion and the 60 acres surrounding the home makes this location truly ‘dog-heaven’. When we come up to our smaller home on the property, our three dogs can all run free for the duration without fear of cars or leash laws. More than 10 miles of old logging roads crisscross the property, providing ready trails for hiking at either a low intensity level or as strenuous as you wish simply by scaling the considerable elevations on the property ( From the base of Fern Valley to the surrounding ridges it is roughly 800’ of elevation) Walking from one end of the property to the other takes about 1.5 hours and is a nice little bit of aerobic exercise
Loads of nearby activities from antiquing, mountain biking, Scenic railroad excursion, horseback riding, hiking, golfing, state parks, tubing, canoing and kayaking on the local rivers, boating on Lake Blue Ridge, or just cruising the back roads checking out the cows, apple and peach orchards. Many nice, local resturants in scenic settings. Convenient access to supermarkets, a drive-in movie theater in Blue Ridge(one of the last in Georgia), boutique shops, even a Wal-Mart. The annual apple festival in Ellijay is always a blast, complete with baby animal petting zoo, pig races, hayrides, clogging, country music and the local moonshine museum. Family fun for everyone.
While the location is remote, we do have consistent cell phone signal so you can still be in touch with the outside world if need be.
My husband Jon and I looked all over the state of Georgia until we found the perfect location. Ellijay is only an hour and a half drive from our hometown Atlanta. We love being in the Valley with all the different springs, creeks, and ponds on the land. We love all the nature that is so nice through out the year. We have mountain laurels, wild dogwoods, hundreds of wild flowers, and so many different kinds of ferns!! It is so fun discovering all the different kinds of plants.
Sally purchased this house in 2006
We love being at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains with so many wonderful things close by. We love hiking the Appalachian Trail, going to Amicalola Falls, and boating on Lake Blue Ridge. We mainly love just being in the isolation of the woods, hearing turkeys, seeing deer and bears!
The greatest thing about staying at our property is it is so quiet! One guest suggested it was like staying in a tree house.
Where to start... between the air hockey, ping pong, darts, hot tub, and fire pit we had a great time. The way the cabin is situated you don't realize you even have neighbors. The two master suites is great for multiple families with plenty of room and activities for all.
When mother nature droped a tree across the driveway, the owners were extremely responsive (I don't think the phone rang a second time) and took care of things quickly.
If you need to get away relax and unwind this is a good option. It is off in the woods! The house itself could use some updating, but it is obviously a solid, comfortable well built house.Staying here is all about getting away and the wooded views and that is what we were looking for. All you hear are birds chirping, no other sounds. We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It put us in the moment, forgetting about everything going on in the outside world.Loved the huge trees and wooded views! You can really imagine a bear walking by at any minute, but didn't get to see any. :( - Only real lowpoint of our stay,Ha! We spent most of our time there on the front balcony hanging out enjoying the view ,or on the back screened porch(which worked out great for our dogs!) just relaxing. We did walk the property some to explore and got some chiggers(so if you plan on exploring get bug repellant with Deet)But weren't bothered by mosquitos or anything. The picnic area was a cool little extra and we would have enjoyed the area more had we had more time. We were only there for 2 days. The hot tub is tricky, you have to work with it to get the temp. up.Maybe a liner on top would help that out.And for it to be so secluded with the feeling of being Out there, the water didn't have any smelly or taste problems and there was good water pressure. Also the toilets all worked well.We have run into those things before at other cabins .
This property is in a great location and very private. We visited Amacilola Falls numerous times, went horseback riding, visited a winery and had numerous picnic lunches. The Falls also offers events like archery that were a blast and inexpensive. The house was very large and had a GREAT ground floor complete with ping pong table, dart board, and air hockey. The place also had lots of DVDs and board games. Sally was extremely pleasant and nice to work with. The hot tub, fire pit, and picnic area with a second fire pit were great. A few items in the house need to be updated along with some of the outdoor lighting. Overall we had a nice experience.
The house was the perfect size for our party of 7 family members and would have accommodated more on futons and air mattresses if necessary. The location was lovely and remote, though close enough to grocery shopping, restaurants and Amicalola Falls State Park, to make it convenient. The hot tub was a nice gathering spot on the chilly evenings and after the snow we had on March 3. I would love to be able to enjoy the deck, screened in porch and hilltop picnic table in the warmer months. Thanks for a perfect "sendoff" location!
We have stayed here twice in two years. We live nearby but found we needed the space this home provides. Our family really enjoyed the fire pit outside. My folks are in their 80's and had no difficulty managing the stairs. We brought along a corn hole game and everyone got some great exercise, although there are plenty of games at the home already. The nieces spent the weekend in the hot tub, considering it was March, they had a blast. There is no competition for the master bedroom since there is one upstairs and one one the main floor. Good Time, Just Went By Too Fast.
I was in the area for my sisters wedding and I tell you we simply had a wonderful time and enjoyed the well equipped home and grounds the entire week..For starters I got lost on the way in running late to boot and had to call Sally to direct me to her home late at night and she was so gracious and helpful guiding me along. She is super friendly and always made me feel she was happy I called.
I ended up throwing a little cookout for the wedding party and the picnic area was just the most peaceful spot and a big hit with all the guests. My teenage kids loved the house and we all loved the area and had a blast tubing and sightseeing and just taking in nature.Elijay and Blue Ridge are wonderful.I am looking forward to going back.
This is a fabulous place to bring your dog. With 60 acres, you are almost guaranteed to not see another person or car going by unless it is someone you have invited up, or the owners who go to the other house 1/2 mile away occasionally on the weekends.
