The cottage was immaculate, very comfortable and fully equipped for a lovely relaxing time. I loved the old style bath in the bedroom which was so relaxing after a day out walking the costal paths. The shower room was fabulous with heated flooring, great walk in shower and built in radio system. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could ever need, there is a wee pull out table and chairs which was ideal when we ate at home. Very comfortable bed and living room cuddle chairs. Luckily we had good weather so didn't need the use of the log burner but I'm sure it would be lovely on a colder night. The location for visiting other areas was ideal, easy walk to Anstruther and short drives to Crail, Elie and St Andrews. The cottage is just round from the Main Street which has a decent chip shop and a couple of nice cafes for during the day. Several art galleries also all within couple of minutes walk. There is a pub down at the harbour which did good food and so friendly and everywhere was so dog friendly. We had no bother parking directly outside the cottage and it is a very quiet place for getting a good nights sleep.

The owner was helpful prior to our visit giving advise by email and a lovely touch was a welcome bottle of cava and chocolates for us arriving.

I would definitely recommend this cottage for a couple to stay and it's dog friendly if you have a wee furry family member.

We had a fantastic time at Kirkgate Cottage. It had everything we needed and it was a wonderful place to relax after miles of coastal walks. We felt very at home as did our two little beagles. Thank you.

Cosy and quiet cottage

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is just perfect with lovely furnishings and good quality items but there are a lot of things in the kitchen which take up space. I would like to have seen a chair and chest of drawers in the bedroom. The bed was very comfortable but the duvet cover was quite heavy and a lot of cushions on it as well. Overall very quiet with a nice outside seating area for fine days. The wood burner in the living room was nice. The location is just off the town centre with free parking on the street outside. Everything was very clean on our arrival and well stocked too. Walking distance to the bus for going further around the area and a nice pub at the harbour. Our dog enjoyed the walks around the area and most places she was able to get into. A good base for travelling around the area either by foot, bus or car. We would stay again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review it is appreciated. I'm sorry some things were not to your liking, but as they can't please all of the people all of the time. I must be honest and say that most people are delighted with the equipment kitchen for a short holiday break and love the fact that it's like home, however I appreciate that it's not minimalist. The cushions in the bedroom are again to make things pretty and are very much a part of modern living these days. I don't understand your comment about having a chest of drawers as there are two sets of drawers - one each side of the bed with 3 reasonabe sized drawers in each, which I thought would be plenty for a short stay. Thanks again for taking the time.

A comfortable, warm and convenient place to stay which is close to the heart of the village.

Everything you need, and more , is found within the cottage for your convenience. A great shower room and a luxurious bath in the bedroom. Great scenery and fabulous walks along the BIG SKY coasts of Fife. Great chippy round the corner from the cottage and also a small cafe providing the best breafast we have had, and served all day. We came in February and the weather was fairly good with only one day of rain. I highly recommend.
