Hallo everyone! My name is SONIA and I am from Lucca. I run my Lucca Holiday Rentals company that offers exceptional apartments in the heart of Lucca. My goal is to help you fall in love with Lucca – to discover, explore, taste and savor new sights and experiences in this incredible city.
My company began almost 10 years ago when I started to rent my family villa after my parents moved to the mountains when they got retired. I spent there my entire childhood and I grew up there in deep contact with the nature and the history. My father thaught me everything about the birds and the antique trees and flowers of the villa and the smell of the sizzling pans used to wake me up each Sunday morning after my mum started to cook! I was fascinated by her when she was telling me the history of the villa in the past century. I thought this kind of feelings are too precious to let them go so then I had the idea to share my love of Lucca and “la dolce Vita” by finding beautiful apartments , villas and farmhouses in my favorite Lucca neighborhoods among my family members properties. Lucca Holiday Rentals started out as a boutique family company and now there are over 15 people working together. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team who will assist you every step of the way, from your first enquiry to your arrival in Lucca.
Mrs Sonia purchased this farmhouse in 2014

The trip we and our three kids -- then ages 13, 12, and 8 -- still talk about today. The kids spent leisurely days swimming in the villa's pool while we parents relaxed nearby and enjoyed the gorgeous view from villa's patio. Although the historical sites and gelato in Lucca beckoned us each morning, we felt like we never wanted to leave the comfort of the villa. Highlights of our trip included Guido's pizza-making in the villa's brick-oven and Cristina's amazing Italian meals. Our kids are begging to go back! With three floors, the villa is perfect for family reunions or for families or couples traveling together.
2 weeks after our return from our stay at Lucca I would like to say
thank you for all. We`ve spend a lovely time at your houses and garden.
The children had many hours at the very nice pool and we adults enjoyed
the nice countryside and towns of tuscany. It was our first time at
tuscany countryside- it was all like a big open-air-museum!
Hope, that the house was o.K. after our leaving. Thanks again for all.
Villa Emily is a beautiful cottage located high up on a hillside 20 mins from Lucca. We were greeted by the housekeeper Roberta who was lovely and made us feel at home providing us with fresh veg, wine, and olive oil.
The cottage is of high standard, spacious, and well equipped. The gardens and pool are fantastic, lovely smells, views, colour, well maintained, sizeable, and peaceful. The outdoor pizza oven and bbq were great.
One slight downside is that you have to park your car on the road at the bottom of the house, therefore you have to carry suitcases, etc up a steep hill so not really suitable for people with any walking disabilities.
Overall the cottage was a dream and one of the best we have ever stayed in, would get 5 out 5.
My experience with Tuscan Holidays was not as favourable but I wouldn’t want to put anyone off staying at such a lovely cottage.
1. The actual price given by Tuscan holidays was double to that advertised on the homeaway website, apparently the prices hadn’t been updated when I enquired. Prices should always be accurate and up to date.
2. I had to pay the full amount 12 months in advance which is very unusual as most ask for just a deposit and full payment closer to the stay date. I paid the full balance, or so I thought, using the homeaway payment system. A week before my trip I was asked to bring 48 euros to cover a homeaway credit card fee. This was something I never saw, was not on my quote, or expecting. I even checked with homeaway who confirmed I didn’t owe anything else. Numerous emails with Tuscan holidays were cold, not helpful, direct, and at one point I was called dishonest which I take offence to. Only after mediation with homeaway did we both find a small insert in the pricing information that states a requirement to pay a credit card fee. I can’t ever recall seeing this, nor is it clear unless you go searching for it. Either this needs adding to the quote or waive it like others do.
3. On enquiring about a cot and high chair I was advised this would be an extra 40 euros, although this was waived after challenging this.
4. I had to chase a few times to obtain the contact details of the caretaker and I had to contact homeaway to assist as my queries were not being answered.
5. Tuscan holidays lacked the personal touch of private owners, e.g. friendly, checking everything was OK, etc.
Overall a fantastic holiday; Hopefully my experience was unlucky and feedback is taken positively.
Joe and I spent a week in arguably one of the most beautiful places on earth, Lucca, Tuscany. More specifically Villa Emily ... All I can say is the pictures on the website do NOT do it justice. We had a glorious week - a perfect vacation… Sandy and Joe
The best vacation we have ever had. Our family consisted of my wife and me, four of our adult children. We were there for 2 weeks. Villa was terrific, furnished with everything you needed, great location for daily trips to other great cities. Swimming pool was super. Mrs Sonia was very easy to work with and had all the answers to our questions. A once in a lifetime experience
Absolute paradise. We are counting the days until our return in May 2016. The views from the villa and the pool took my breath away - several times a day! The accommodations are very comfortable in the simple Tuscan style. Sonia and Mrs Isa provided a wealth of information about the surrounding area - from local history and restaurant recommendations to all the directions and information needed for our day trips around Tuscany. We plan to spend more time exploring Lucca this trip. My only complaint...we had to leave!
Lucca, beautiful city, famous for its monumental 15th century fortified wall. But dig a little deeper and you find that its winding medieval streets actually follow the plan laid out by the Romans in 180BC. And before the Romans, Lucca was one of the major centres of Etruria, the ancient country of central Italy that more or less corresponds to modern Tuscany. Unsurprisingly then, Lucca is steeped in history. Your twelfth century building is just a small part of that. There are museums and churches, and the magnificent cathedral, the Duomo di San Martino, is the town’s finest Romanesque building, its impressive façade a triumph of sculpture, carving and inlay work – at just five minutes’ walk from the apartment. Modern delights include terrific restaurants, bars and shops, all within a few minutes’ walk. In Lucca’s winding streets, the pedestrian comes before the car, so you can move at your own pace. In fact wandering the streets is one of the great pleasures of the city.
