Makes a Beautiful Vacation Home
OMG! Love Love Love this place. The location and the view are unbeatable. Sunsets from the Lanai or from the family room are spectacular. The beach is literally steps away. Its a convenient location with easy access to the beach, restaurants, groceries and even souvenir shops. Its a well furnished, beautifully maintained condo that worked perfect for our family of 4. My husband absolutely needs AC and this condo has good air-conditioning. Everytime anyone asks my five year old what she liked best in Maui, she says “the pool at Mahana”. Its a lovely pool. She had a blast there. And we got to watch sea turtles and whales from the family room. It was an amazing experience. Like I mentioned in the guestbook nothing beats the feeling of going to sleep and then waking up to the same sounds of the ocean.
And Sue is such an amazing person. She genuinely wishes for a comfortable stay for all her guests. Sue was very helpful and always prompt to reply. She referred us to Susan Ramos at the front desk who also did an amazing job in coordinating our local tours and activities, well-tailored to our interests and convenience.
We love this unit so much we want to go back. I am normally the one to be content to get back home after a nice vacation. However with the Mahana 1009, I felt very emotional when checking out. I almost cried because my kids, husband and I loved this vacation the most we have had together.
Mahana 1009 was fantastic !
Our family really enjoyed this beautiful condo . This was our fifth visit to The Mahana , but the first time we stayed in 1009 .. It won't be the last ... Sue was pleasure to deal with and made sure everything was ready to go for us when we arrived ... The unit is very well appointed with lovely furniture and bedding . The table and chairs on the lanai were very comfortable to sit and watch the sunsets and the odd Humpback ...The corner suite allows wonderful views of Molokai as well as Lanai ... Our visit here was Spring Break 2018 .... Have to start planning our next stay ... The Milford family
The Mahana is the best property on the Island
I have now stayed at the Mahana 5 times. Hands down it is the best property on the Island. This unit is a corner unit and on the 10th floor, and has an incredible view! The kitchen is perfectly equipped for everything you need for your stay. Looking out at the ocean, hearing the waves is heaven! Looking strait down you see sea turtles and beautiful fish... it's breathtaking! Seeing the humpback whales is a graceful observation of one of the greatest creatures on earth... However, the lanai needs comfortable patio/lanai furniture to enjoy the view you're paying for instead of a second dining room table (it makes no sense). The beds are a little hard, which is probably the second priority of importance you look for in a vacation property. In the end the takeaway on this unit is "less is more" in it's decor . It is a little crowded with all the furniture... But that said, I will always stay at the Mahana when vacationing on Maui. It's Paradise...
Beautiful Unit, Unbeatable Location
We were very happy with our two week stay at Sue's Mahana unit 1009. She was very responsive to all of our questions and we found the unit to exceed our expectations. Loved hearing the ocean from the bedroom and watching the whales every day. Would rent from her again in the future.
Wonderful little place in a nice community with lots of services and activities
Wonderful little place in a nice community with lots of services and activities. The union is an end unit with wonderful views and lots of nice local places to eat
Cannot get any closer to the surf!
We very much enjoyed our stay at Mahana 1009! The view is spectacular, daily sunset becomes a ritual. The surf sound at night is comforting. Short walk to a nice beach where the snorkeling was surprisingly good. Dukes is right there if one happens to get parched. Fun watching fish schooling and hunting right below us from the lanai. Walking distance (or very short drive if one so desires) to good coffee at Bad Ass coffee, and one of the few real “fish markets” on the island. With the very nice grills by the pool, creating ones own fish dinner became a joy. All facilities well maintained and clean. We didn’t find a single thing the kitchen lacked in terms of untensils or dishes. The beach itself in the North Kaanapali area is (in my opinion) not quite a nice as South Kaanapali, but the North end is much quieter, far less crowded and lacks the commercial hustle bustle feel. For us, it was a better “Hawaii experience”without even accounting for the cost savings over similar units on the south beach. It also has less light pollution at night so the stars really pop. We even saw a complete arc moon bow one night, which was a spectacular event we didn’t even know was possible. Nothing gets you closer to the Ocean than Mahana!
Whalers is about a 30 minute walk on the boardwalk, or about 7 minutes by car. So not like one is disconnected in any way. We used Uber at night because nobody wanted to be the DD... Uber drivers were friendly, plentiful, and we never waited more than 3 or 4 minutes. Getting around that way at night was inexpensive and easy.
A shameless plug for Warren and Annabel’s... adults only Magic/comedy show in Lahaina is well worth the price of admission. Get reservations before you leave Home though or you probably won’t get in.
Our only critique is partly taste, partly utility. We like to unpack into drawers, and the furniture in the ocean side master was not very conducive to that. It’s pretty, but at the same time it’s big and makes the room feel a bit crowded. All that bulk provides very little in the way of practical drawer storage. That said, a minor nit and we made it work just fine. Lots of hanging space and plenty of hangers. More importantly the bed was very comfortable... not too hard not too soft.
15 days we will remember, and would be happy to rinse and repeat over and over.
The owner is great to deal with... another plus.
The Mahana is direct oceanfront, offering breathtaking views up and down uncrowded North Ka'anapali Beach in West Maui and across the gorgeous Pacific to the islands of Lanai and Molokai. The weather systems over the two islands create amazing sunsets you can enjoy from your lanai each evening. You will revel in the quiet luxury of the Mahana and yet still appreciate its proximity to restaurants, shops, and activities. You are just two miles from Whalers Village and four miles from Lahaina where you can shop, enjoy meals at first-class restaurants, or just go out for a night on the town.
For those who love to walk along the beach, the Mahana is perfect. You have the choice of walking about two miles to the Sheraton at Black Rock either along the beach or on the boardwalk. You can then continue your walk to Whaler's Village and then on to the Hyatt at the far end of the boardwalk. Along the way, you will pass wonderful oceanfront restaurants including world-famous Duke's and also Castaway's. Walking from the Mahana in the other direction, north, you have two oceanfront cafes within five minutes, one at the Ka'anapali Beach Club and also at Ka'anapali Shores.
There is great snorkeling right in front of the resort, plus an oceanfront pool, hot tub, shuffleboard court, and bbq grills that are cleaned daily.
The Mahana has four championship golf courses nearby and easy access to the Challenge at Manele on the island of Lanai from the Lahaina Pier via the Expeditions ferry.
Your Mahana unit blends seclusion with the convenience of being right across the street from the best grocery store in the area, Times Market, a snorkel shop, delicatessen, Mexican Restaurant, real estate office, coffee shop, "make-your-own-pancakes" restaurant, therapeutic massage, fish market, sub shop, Italian restaurant, fishing and tackle shop, and many more.
Rates & Availability
Additional information about rental rates
Before you make a reservation, please recognize that I book our units back-to-back where guests arrive in the afternoon of the morning other guests depart. If a guest chooses dates that are not back-to-back, then the goal is to leave a seven night space between bookings since that is what most people request. For example, please do not book 4 nights in the middle of 7 open nights. PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE BOOKING. There are certainly times where I will take a reservation with a small gap, but would like to discuss this with you before you book. When you make your reservation and pay your deposit, please include your cell number when asked for your phone. Although I take credit cards for the initial deposit, I would appreciate you sending a check for the final payment as this helps me keep the rates as low as possible. Your initial deposit made online will include a booking fee that goes straight to VRBO/HomeAway for making your reservation. If you are reserving 12 or more days, my faithful and wonderful housekeeper, Luretta, has asked that I add a mid-term cleaning of $60 to clean the unit and change the sheets and towels. The exit cleaning fee of $185 is for 4 people; $210 for 5; $235 for 6. I will add another mid-term cleaning for each additional week you rent and as there is not a way to include these fees as part of the online booking, they will be added once you make your reservation. I am excited about helping you make this the most wonderful vacation ever! Sue
