I cannot tell you the number of whales we saw from our balcony! The sunsets were spectacular. We were in walking distance to a good restaurant, grocery and movie rental. And we were in short driving distance to great resorts with shopping and beaches.
Our family of four had a great stay in this condo. Sue was excellent throughout the entire process. Looking forward to staying here again.
Our family of 6 (4 kids, ages 16, 15, 12, 10) had a lovely stay in Maui at Sue's Mahana condo. The views in the photos do not misrepresent. The kitchen is well equipped, beds comfortable and extra amenities appreciated. With the 2 bedrooms for 6 people, we used the pullout sofa in the family room for 2 kids. It worked, not the most comfortable arrangement, but for the price, it was good enough. Sue was extremely responsive, from the moment we booked the reservation, into the wee hours of the night (because of the 6 hour time change) with a question. Sue's local property attendant, Loretta, immediately responded to an air conditioner mishap (user error) and was totally available anytime we needed her help. We enjoyed the beach chairs, boogie boards (we left one behind for future guests), and beach towels (could have used a couple more beach towels). We enjoyed morning walks along the beachwalk all the way down to Whaler's Village - and even found a little Starbucks coffee stand inside the gift shop at the Westin condos, just a couple resorts down. Because our 4 children wanted to spend every waking minute in the ocean, we settled most days at the beach near Whaler's Village as we couldn't find quite the right spot to settle near the Mahana (lots of coral in the water there). We took a break from the beach and browsed through Lahaina one day, another day we headed up to Honolua Bay for amazing snorkeling. For food, we loved Aloha Mixed Plate for dinner, also Slappy Cakes (just across the street from Mahana) was a fun breakfast spot, Cool Cat's in Lahaina, Duke's (just next door to Mahana overlooking the water), Leilani's and Hula Grill. It was helpful to load up on essential breakfast and lunch items at Costco, which is right by the airport. Costco also has boogie boards for $25 each (the condo now has 3 though), snorkeling gear (also 1 or 2 sets at the condo), etc.
We loved our stay and are so grateful for the memories in Maui!
Stayed here with my husband and 23 year old son and it was perfect in every way. The condo is everything described and more. The views are amazing as others have said. You see turtles right from the condo. We ate breakfast each morning on the lanai and had happy hour there too..The sunsets were gorgeous. The condo has everything you could possibly need- the kitchen is fully equipped so buy fish at the Fish Market 5 minutes away and you won't be disappointed. The two bedrooms each had great views. We'd watch rainbows from my son's room and fall to sleep and wake up to the sound of waves in the other. Key-less entrance was great and internet worked smoothly once connected. If you love to snorkel and want fabulous snorkeling right from the beach, stay here. Don't go right out in front but walk down the beach a 100 yards or so and head out. A huge variety of fish (which you can look up on the guides in the condo) turtles and beautiful coral await. We also drove down a short way to the Kahekili beach park. Great snorkeling there too but we saw more turtles (5 one snorkel) closer to the resort. Our son surfs but it had been a while so we started each day watching him and others just south of Lihaina. Tons of places near by to rent snorkeling gear and surf boards. Lots of great restaurants around as well. Convenient to the grocery store (Times) and an easy drive to Kaananpali and Whalers Village if you want some more action. The condo has great tour books that gave us good ideas where else on Maui to go. All in all it was among our best vacations, in part because the accommodations made for such a fantastic, relaxing and beautiful home base. We were sad to head back to the airport and home to reality but we'll be back!
You can't beat the view! We saw many rainbows and whales. You can enjoy the scenery from either the living room or the lanai. The condo was equipped with kitchen supplies and also had a washer/dryer which we always like. The only thing that I would recommend would be to clean out the refrigerator after guests leave. Other than that, great place to stay!
Our stay at 1009 Mahana was nothing less than awesome. The 2 bdrm condo was exactly as it was described. We had the best viewing of the whales from our living room and the lanai. We even had a turtle directly down in front of our condo visiting every day for food. the condo was equipped with all the needs including beach towels, chairs, snorkeling equipment, binoculars and TVs in the living room and bedrooms. Wi-fi was effortless to connect to and the air conditioning was adequate to keep us cool. The pool, hot tub and gas grills on the property were handy. An egret flew in to walk around and scope out the visitors. We could walk to a grocery store and Duke's was a short walk on the boardwalk along the beach. Excellent vacation. We will definitely book this unit again. Boulder, CO Stay-March 7 to March 16, 2016
The Mahana is direct oceanfront, offering breathtaking views up and down uncrowded North Ka'anapali Beach in West Maui and across the gorgeous Pacific to the islands of Lanai and Molokai. The weather systems over the two islands create amazing sunsets you can enjoy from your lanai each evening. You will revel in the quiet luxury of the Mahana and yet still appreciate its proximity to restaurants, shops, and activities. You are just two miles from Whalers Village and four miles from Lahaina where you can shop, enjoy meals at first-class restaurants, or just go out for a night on the town.
For those who love to walk along the beach, the Mahana is perfect. You have the choice of walking about two miles to the Sheraton at Black Rock either along the beach or on the boardwalk. You can then continue your walk to Whaler's Village and then on to the Hyatt at the far end of the boardwalk. Along the way, you will pass wonderful oceanfront restaurants including world-famous Duke's and also Castaway's. Walking from the Mahana in the other direction, north, you have two oceanfront cafes within five minutes, one at the Ka'anapali Beach Club and also at Ka'anapali Shores.
There is great snorkeling right in front of the resort, plus an oceanfront pool, hot tub, shuffleboard court, and bbq grills that are cleaned daily.
The Mahana has four championship golf courses nearby and easy access to the Challenge at Manele on the island of Lanai from the Lahaina Pier via the Expeditions ferry.
Your Mahana unit blends seclusion with the convenience of being right across the street from the best grocery store in the area, Times Market, a snorkel shop, delicatessen, Mexican Restaurant, real estate office, coffee shop, "make-your-own-pancakes" restaurant, therapeutic massage, fish market, sub shop, Italian restaurant, fishing and tackle shop, and many more.
