About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, sun terrace, shared pool, lake and mountain views

Charming renovated farmhouse (semi-detached) in a quiet hamlet. 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. Idyllic, quiet, beautiful location. Stunning views of lake, wooded hillsides, rolling farmland, and the Pyrenées. Tranquility galore. Large sun terrace (with BBQ & garden furniture), beautifully shaded pergola, large shared garden with pond, and most importantly, shared swimming pool (12x5 m) to lounge/have fun in. The pool is shared with one other gîte, and us, a retired Irish couple. We'll maybe pop in once or twice in the afternoon to cool down but will mostly leave it to our guests. We also have badminton net, croquet, table tennis, four bicycles & pétanques.

There are also nearby leisure lakes for further swimming and water sports. Other nearby amenities include tennis courts, golf, horse-riding, canoeing & tree top adventure park. The Pyrenées are about an hours drive south, allowing a total change of culture across the Spanish border.

A weak internet access is available in the farmhouse (stronger in the neighbouring barn).

Rooms in the farmhouse gîte

Bedroom 1 : Large room with Double bed.

Bedroom 2 : Attic bedroom with double futon (leads into 2nd attic bedroom)

Bedroom 3 : Attic bedroom with single bed and single futon.

[Note there's also double futon in the living room that can be curtained off]

Upstairs shower room, includes shower, WC and wash hand basin.

Downstairs bathroom, includes bath with shower, WC and wash hand basin.

The kitchen has dining table (there is also 2nd dining table in the living room), comfy chair, fridge/freezer, gas hob, electric oven/grill, microwave, kettle, toaster. Fully-equipped with more than ample crockery and saucepans etc etc. Please note there is no dish-washer.

Utility Room:

Although there is a washing machine in the kitchen, further laundry facilities are next door (washing machine and tumble dryer). There is also a shared washing line in the garden.

Living Rooms:

Large lounge area with dining table, and a sofa suite (two small one large), plus double futon. There is a wood burning stove (unlikely to be needed in summer), TV and DVD player. Extensive English language book library distributed around the house & barn.

Outdoors areas:

Big sun terrace with table and chairs. This adjoins to a pergola, beautifully shaded with lush twisting wisteria and vines, also with table. Large shared garden with big pond. Swimming pool (12x5 m) to be shared with one other gîte and with owners.

There is a games room on the ground floor of a neighbouring barn. Here, besides the additional laundry facilities, there is a table tennis table and four bikes. We also have badminton, croquet, and pétanques sets.

NOTE: The presence of a pond may be of concern for unsupervised small children. The pool is also unguarded although it has alarm installed. We trust parent's discretion on this matter.

About Owner/Property Manager

My wife Helen and I (Scott) moved over from the Northwest of Ireland and have lived out here full-time since 2002, having renovated the farmhouse and accompanying barn by ourselves since that time. We are effectively retired and live a quiet life!

I do like to hand-weave as a hobby and I have a big old traditional hand-weaving loom in a downstairs workshop in the barn conversion. Although it is tidied away during the summer months to make way for the table tennis table, I'm always happy to show it to anyone who is curious.

Whilst respecting the privacy of our guests, we like to make sure that they feel welcome and know that they can approach us with any issues. We'll often share a wee dram during at least one evening of our guest's holiday.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Gers

We used to bring our family on camping holidays in France, and we have fond memories of holidays in the Gers region. When we came on our first (and only) house hunting visit, the first house we saw was Au Berrete, and we immediately fell in love with the views. Although it was a larger project than we had been planning on taking on, we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to live in such a splendid location.

What makes this cottage unique

The peace and quiet and beautiful tranquil views. We also love that there are often opportunities to view wildlife (coypu, boar, deer, various birds).
