The Bluff House is perched on a dune overlooking Bluffton Bay and Muskegon Lake, on a peninsula between Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan. The Bluffton area has a fascinating history and is a safe, friendly place to stay. It’s a place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan and the surrounding dunes and forests. One can let their creative juices flow, or enjoy the work of several resident artists at local galleries in Lakeside and Muskegon. The view from the Bluff House is its finest point – 180 degree view of Bluffton Bay and Muskegon Lake. There is a large deck in the front and a small screened patio in the back. You can sit in the living room and enjoy the lake view or enjoy the surrounding trees and shrubs in the back. It’s a very secluded environment, yet it’s still in the city with all the activities an urban area entails. The Muskegon Yacht Club is directly across the street and the skippers are always looking for crew on Wednesday nights.
There are a variety of ways to get to The Bluff House. One can arrive by car, utilizing the highways a few miles away. There is also the cross lake ferry which has three runs a day between Muskegon and Milwaukee just down the street a mile or two. One could ride their bike to the the ferry, spend day in Milwaukee and take the Ferry back, and rids their bikes to The Bluff House. The Bluff House is within 2 miles of the Ferry and 20 minutes of Michigan Adventure. There are many beautiful bike trails along Lake Michigan and Muskegon Lake along the dunes and through wetlands. If you are a member of another yacht club, you could come by boat, dock at the Muskegon Yacht Club, and utilize the facilities such as the bar, restaurant, and pool. Your boat will be visible from the deck of The Bluff House.
The Bluff House provides WIFI for internet and Direct TV for satlite cable. The house has Air conditioning. The cable includes full sport and premium channels for your enjoyment

In city but it has secluded location
Peaceful and breathtaking view
We were looking to get away from our busy urban lives and this was the perfect place. Our family had a great time here. The backyard is beautiful and the view from the living room is breathtaking. This was perfect, we had a marvelous time.
Great little cottage with excellent view of the lake/marina in the front and only about a quarter of a mile from Lake MIchigan. The property does sit up high on a little hill and the drive way has a steep incline. The owner (who lives right next door) was very friendly and he gave us the use of his 4 bikes and 2 kayaks. We used the bikes to cycle up to Lake Michigan. We had a minor issue with one of the toilets, and Sid came over immediately and resolved it. You can spend hours just sitting out on the front porch with a beer, gazing at the lake out front.
We stayed over Labor Day weekend. Sid was great and we really appreciated him being flexible with our chek in and check out. The house was just like it was described in the text and the photos. The kayaks were great and it was easy to get across the street and the little dock/beach. We never ended up using the bikes. The driveway is steep but that was not an issue for us but if you have trouble walking then this house might not be for you. Beds and bed linen were very good and we slept very well which is unusual for our family :) Boys loved the little room w the two twin beds. There is one thing I'd suggest to change with the house. The furniture on the front deck wasn't that good. It would have been great with two lounge chairs and a new dining table set so you could sit out there comfortable and look at the lake and the boats.
I'd stay here again for sure. It was very convenient w Lake Muskegon on one side and Lake Michigan around the corner and the owners were really nice. Thanks!
The Bluff House was a real treat, and an overall relaxing experience, especially for those not accustomed to such scenery. The house is situated in front of Lake Muskegon, directly across the street from the Muskegon Yacht Club, which conveniently allows for ample parking space in case of multiple vehicles or reservations about driving up the rather steep driveway. Less than a ten minute walk and you are on the sands of Lake Michigan, at a very family friendly beach, with plenty of scenery to take in, from the light houses and boats to the occasional wind surfers, there is ample room and plenty to entertain yourself here. Rather than hoof it around the area optionally you could cycle, as the house comes supplied with a handful of cycles for a small family to enjoy, as well as a pair of kayaks that were a gentle and relaxing experience when utilized on the lake front directly across from the home.
The home itself is very neat and seemingly well maintained, no complaints on that front. There are enough beds and space for a small to mid size family or group to comfortably fit in. There is a back patio with a small but cozy yard and decent view, but the real treat is the front patio and living room window view. The front deck / patio is roomy and comfy enough but it is the view that will draw all the attention. Being situated in front of the yacht club gives guests a delicious view of both boats of many variety and the bay itself, which is the real treat, quite a sight. This view is also enjoyed through the enviable living room window, which is as clear as an azure sky and nearly takes up the entirety of the forward living room wall. If your relaxing inside with family and friends, or just alone in front of the television set, the view in this room really made the whole experience more enjoyable.
Although the lake and general scenery were the main attractions there is still plenty to do in and around the area. From shops, restaurants, cycling paths, beaches and other tourist attractions guests will never want for things to keep them occupied. One final note, the owner / operator Sid seemed to be a very pleasant individual who lives right next door and is more than willing to aide guests with advice or other assistance. On more than one occasion we had reason to contact him for some assistance and he was there within moments when needed, ready to assist. Overall an enjoyable, family friendly experience, pretty, pretty, pretty good.
Beautiful view from the Bluff House over Lake Muskegon, both from deck and huge window in living room. (Along with that is a very steep driveway, we parked on the street.) Older home, but well kept and stocked. Owners live next door and very responsive. 3rd bedroom is on lower level, which is more like a basement as home is built into a hill. Across the street from the Yacht Club, which can be noisy. One night had a band late, did not bother us though. Would stay again, great value and owners.
The Bluff House is a quaint little piece of 1950's Americana. The owners have maintained the 1950's Lake Cottage Charm. The kitchen had a view of Muskegon Lake which made cooking more enjoyable. The beds were comfy & we always had ample hot water for 6 of us to shower. The view from the living room is wonderful. Since there is a screen porch connected to the living room, we almost felt like we were outside when facing the front window. The home owner, Sid was very helpful. There was a mechanical issue with one of the appliances and he attended to it promptly.
One problem that we had was that the basement was a little damp and musty. The bedroom downstairs was not usable for us due to asthma & allergy. We used the living room futon instead for our 3rd bedroom.
Our older kids really enjoyed the kayaks. That was a nice bonus, not having to rent them from an outfitter.
Be sure to bring your own spices for the kitchen and laundry detergent.
The hill up to the house is quite steep, so we struggled a little with getting our luggage up and down. You can drive up, but backing down into the street was a worry for us, so we just got lots of (much needed) exercise going up and down. Overall, it was a very relaxing and pleasurable visit to Michigan. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach and many historical sites nearby.
The house in clean when we get in and it has everything you need.(cooking ware, Grill, Etc). We lived at this place for two days and never had single problem. The location of this house super nice.it is near to Ice Cream shop, Lighthouse, beach and super market and you can bike to there is you want to.
Overall, this is a great place. Will visit again in future.
The Bluff House is located across the street from Muskegon Lake and the Muskegon Yacht Club. Lake Michigan is a short 1/4 mile walk or bike ride away. There are numerous bike paths, state park hiking, sailing, charter fishing, sandy beaches for swimming and sunning. Two water parks are a 15 minute drive away. There are the usual museums, parks, Party in the Park Fridays, and several festivals to experience. Best of all - four ice cream parlors with gourmet products are 1/2 mile away. Personally, sitting on the deck with a beverage and a book, enjoying the view every now and then, is the best way to utilize The Bluff House. Fishing charter boats are 2 minutes away from the house
