Centrally located, great accomodations, plus you get to stay in part of a castle!
This worked out fantastic for my husband, myself and our 3 kids. We have lots of family in the area so it was centrally located and very easy to navigate to and from. It has 2 bedrooms, with a queen in one and 2 beds in another plus we got a cot for another child. It has an open floor plan other than that which is great for socializing plus a small kitchen, perfect for eating meals in. There is a microwave, stove, dishwasher and combo washer/dryer. Ramona was very accommodating, responded quickly, and was very helpful. Warrenpoint is a 5 minute drive, Rostrevor about 10 minutes, and Newry about 10 minutes. It is about an hour north of Dublin and an hour south of Belfast - we went to both. So, a great country visit, but close to the cities and tons of stuff to do, shopping, etc. The castle grounds are beautiful and we even took a ride to the horse stables. If we had enough time we would have booked a trail ride. We will most certainly be back and recommend it to all our friends and family!
No review could do this place justice
If you’ve navigated here looking for a holiday rental - look no further. This apartment made the perfect base for exploring Northern Ireland over a 4 day period. It’s close to just enough to be entertained but far enough away really allow for some rest and relaxation. The apartment itself is beyond superb. The details, the amenities (the soaking tub, washer and dryer, dishwasher) all make for a 1st class experience. The size of the apartment is wonderful - I was visiting family in the area and was able to have them over for a small gathering. Everyone commented on how fabulous the apartment was. On to Ramona - she’s tremendous. One of the most lovely people to chat to and so very helpful. She was always close by when needed but left you to your own devices - you really will feel like you’re in your own home. We will definitely be back!
Wow...definitely a five star property. Lovely host, stayed in contact and welcomed us with snacks and a tour of the apartment. Lovingly restored property with fabulous grounds to explore. Restoration retained some of the original features but added modern amenities. This apartment has everything you need and I wish we could have stayed longer. A short 5 minute drive to restaurants, groceries and scenery but secluded, quiet and peaceful. A great stay...highly recommended!!
A great combination of historic and modern
We were very happy with our stay here. Ramona has done an amazing job of restoring an historic apartment with all the modern conveniences (washer/dryer, Wifi) anyone could ask for. The apartment itself is spacious and comfortable, and having access to the grounds, garden and nearby trails (and friendly dogs and cats) is a great bonus. It has a quiet, country feel while still being only 5 minutes drive from Warrenpoint and all the shops and restaurants there. Ramona is an excellent host who was always available to answer questions and provide any assistance needed.
Beautiful, historic, grand and cosy
Great quality and attention to detail. We had shocking weather one day but were happy to stay around the house as it was really special.
Modern living meets living history
Quaint apartment in terrace of cottages attached to the main castle buildings. All modern conveniences, clean, comfortable beds, lots of books, games, dvds and tourist info for guest's use. Decorated and furnished in period style. Quiet and peaceful location buy within minutes of Warrenpoint and Newry. Be sure to walk the grounds, meet the castle dogs and see the horses grazing.

The County Down region
This is a superb walking area. The majestic Mountains of Mourne and the Ring of Gullion areas provide an outstanding backdrop for walkers of all types.
With a wide variety of walks that cater for a broad range of fitness, ability and experience, the area offers flat easy coastal routes and canal towpaths to testing slopes and mountains.
Ireland is a favourite destination for golfers looking for challenging courses, good hospitality and competitive green fees. The local courses are mostly undulating parkland courses that offer the golfer an interesting challenge with tight sloping fairways and valleys and well-maintained greens.
The Ring of Gullion and the Mournes provide a backdrop of hills, mountains, rivers, lakes, forests, coastal plains and award winning beaches, making the option of seeing it all on horseback also extremely appealing.
Newry and Mourne is largely coastal, offering great opportunities for water sports. Carlingford Lough, Camlough Lake and Lough Ross provide sheltered conditions for a range of water based activities such as sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and water skiing.
Cranfield Beach provides safe, clean sea bathing.
Sheltered harbours and pontoons such as at Annalong provide safe and secure mooring facilities for keeled yachts and cruisers. Leisure crafts are also welcome in Warrenpoint.
Newry and Mourne offers a wide range of facilities for children. As well as pleasant rural walking, cycling and fine beaches, there are excellent play areas in many of our parks, notably Warrenpoint and Kilbroney Park, Rostrevor.
Indoor activities include Kilkeel Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool, Newry Sports Centre, Newry Swimming Pool, Formula Karting in Newry, Newry Omniplex and Annalong Cornmill (for older children). Sheepbridge family entertainment centre.
All year round Warrenpoint offers well known nightclubs and restaurants providing excellent entertainment and a variety of foods to suit every taste and pocket. During the summer months an open-air amusement park is on offer in the main square or you can take a stroll down along the beach and seafront.
There are worlds class mountain bike trails in Rostrevor.
There are many festivals throughout the year. There is the Blues On The Bay Festival in Warrenpoint and Rostrevor and Tanglewood at Narrow Water Castle itself.
