Quiet side of Acadia
This is a charming place in a convenient and friendly location. We have stayed here before, and will do so again. Be aware that there is a spiral staircase to the second floor. You can walk to Beal's Lobster Pier and you are in the town of Southwest Harbor. Just a short drive to Acadia, and very close to Echo Lake and the Acadia Mountain hike.
A wonderful location and a charming cottage. We especially enjoyed the courtyard in the back of the cottage.
Quiet side of Arcadia! Highly recommend!
Perfect location if you are a couple visiting Arcadia! The house had everything you needed and was in walking distance (about 2 minutes) from the Main Street of Southwest Harbour. Highly recommend Bass Harbour Island Cruises for their afternoon eco tour . Learned so much about the local lobster industry as well as the wildlife on the surrounding islands. There are some great hikes a few miles away (Beeach Cliffs and Canada Cliff Trails). Owners were fabulous to deal with.
Terrific Tidy Tiny experience
This lovely space is beautifully decorated, nestled in the trees surrounded by a charming garden. Excellent hosts with great dining tips.
Loved being cozy even in the rain. Location perfect.
Lovely setting walking distance to restaurants markets ice cream! Would definitely rebook next year.
Perfect Quiet Get Away!
We loved the carriage house! Southwest Harbor is charming and definitely the quiet side. The house is beautiful and a bonus with a fenced yard for our dogs. The property sits back from the street and is very quiet and peaceful. We were able to take the dogs walking around town even after dark. There were so many great places to eat within walking distance, Beal’s (we went daily), Sips, Quietside Cafe, Sawyers Market and the Common Good Soup Kitchen & Cafe for morning coffee and popovers. It’s so easy to find carriage roads, hiking trails and access to Acadia in less than 20 minutes. It was perfect and we’re already planning our trip for next fall. Thanks Barbara and John for letting us enjoy your home! We will be in contact for a return visit in 2019. All the best, Jennifer, Mary, Willow & Pearl
The house is located 2 miles from Acadia National Park, fresh water swimming, kayaking and hiking and biking. Southwest Harbor is also known as the 'Quiet Side', a quaint little town with unique shops and excellent restaurants within a few minutes walk. The town dock is a 5 minute walk from the house where you can catch the mail boat for a ride out to the Cranberry Isles, or a 5 mile drive to Bass Harbor where a state ferry will take you to Swans Island. A one block walk to the free Island Explorer Bus will connect you to Bar Harbor and all parts of beautiful Acadia National Park.
