Villa Eleonorae has an incredible view and it gets the sun from morning until the sun goes down. A homely and comfortable villa, creating a holiday vibe in a wonderful setting. It is modern, yet in keeping with the local architecture. Named after the falcons that swoop over its elevated position above the unspoiled hill village of Glossa (only 10 minutes away with its shops and tavernas). Its secluded location feels private, despite its proximity to the beaches, the port, the Mamma Mia church and the village itself, and the villa is not overlooked by anything. The panoramic view takes in the islands of Evia, Skiathos and the Pelion and away to the mainland, as far as Mt Parnassus and closer to home down to the village of Glossa and its port of Loutraki. The villa itself is built by hand in the traditional style of the island, with open-beamed ceilings of chestnut and pine, wooden balconies and tiled roofs, complemented by a modern clean touch and up-to-date fittings and equipment. It is a truly unforgettable experience.

Bedrooms:

The main bedroom has a super king size double bed and an en-suite bathroom. The view through double doors looks out over the garden and beyond over the Aegean. The terrace outside leads to the garden and there are seats and a table there offering another place to relax. This light and airy room is decorated with paintings and it has a painted wooden ceiling. There is a full length mirror and plenty of storage space for clothes and suitcases. All the sheets, large pillows and towels are from the White Company. For the hot season there is air conditioning to cool you down.

A double door leads into the second bedroom which has two single beds that can be adjoined to make a super king size bed. It is colourful, light and airy and also has a painted ceiling. This bedroom also shares a similar view to the main bedroom and also has double doors leading out to a terrace with a great view to wake up to. The wardrobe is has ample space and there is also a full length mirror and air conditioning.

Bathrooms:

Both bathrooms have good showers with marble finishes, toilets with automatic lids and basins set in teak. Complete with White company towels, L'occitane soap and heated towel rails.

Kitchen:

Well appointed, airy kitchen and living area, with views to the swimming pool, access to the extensive covered veranda and yard. The equipment includes electric cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, hard wood work surfaces, double sink & good quality utensils.

Utility Room:

Located downstairs and home to the heating system, whirlpool and LG washing machines, freezer, cool boxes, ironing board, drying rack and first aid cabinet.

Living Rooms:

The living is on the 1st floor, and opens up to the extensive balcony. Open plan, with an attractive open wooden ceiling, it is well appointed with a fireplace, wifi, DVD/stereo system, ipod dock. Comfortable furnishings and rugs. It opens onto the veranda at the front of the house and the yard at the rear.

There are lots of outside spaces to choose from whether it is for sunbathing or for shade. Outside

The house has been specifically designed to offer guests the maximum benefit of outdoor living. The hard wood veranda runs along two sides of the villa and faces south west. The front veranda measures 3m wide x 9m long it provides a perfect space to entertain and dine alfresco whilst taking in the stunning view over loutraki harbour and the bay beyond. The barbecue area has a fridge, sink and a large user friendly barbecue that also has an electric rotisserie. So whether its a few sardines or a whole goat and three chickens on the menu this set up will deliver!

The yard at the rear of the villa is next to the barbecue. This is the main entrance to the villa from the car park area. Large double doors open onto this area with its pergola and dining area that allow for a cool, relaxed dining alternative when the sun is at its zenith. The veranda is reached through the double doors from the living area. It also leads around the side of the house to the barbecue area and the dining area in the yard at the rear of the villa.

Cleaning/Towels/Linen/Maid service:

All linen, house towels and bathing/beach towels are included.

The property is cleaned once a week, more if required for a small additional charge.

Maid/Concierge service available - additional charge. The pool is maintained every two days to ensure that it is in good condition.

Accessibility

Due to the situation of the property on the apex of a hill, and the steep slopes around the house, it is not suitable for wheelchair users, or indeed people with mobility difficulties. Car hire is necessary in order to get around and to explore , a Suzki Jimney is a good option. I can recommend a local car hire family run company which will deliver the car to the port of your arrival and collect from your departure port.

The private swimming pool measures 8x4m and looks out over the bay. It is located at the side of the villa on a split level. It has steps leading into it and a shallow and deep end. There are five wooden sun beds, low tables, umbrellas and a large cushioned bench. There is an outside shower and an orange tree at the far end of this area and next to it stone steps that lead up to the terrace above. The pool area is enclosed tastefully by railings, with a latched gate to restrict access by underage children. The property extends to 2.5 acres set out in terraces, gardens and trees, so providing guests with privacy and space.

I am from Ireland and have been coming to Skopelos since 2004. I have always enjoyed traveling and when I came to Skopelos in 2004 I liked it so much that when the opportunity came to build a villa here I seized it.

Why Shane Jackson chose Sporades

The land on which Villa Eleonora is built is in a private location, off a road that meanders into the interior of the island which is mainly forested. There are no buildings beside the property or within sight in the immediate area. to The left of the property and at the front it is designated forestry and on the right and behind families farm vines and fruit trees. Its a peaceful, private and tranquil place that I am always eager to return too.

The villa was completed in 2008 and I have been letting the property since 2010. This year I have enhanced the pool area by placing another outside shower there, with extra decking and new stone wall.

What makes this villa unique

I enjoy the Greek Island lifestyle, the people and the beauty that Skopelos gives to everyone. The villa enjoys literally breathtaking unspoilt views, of forest, sea, islands and the mainland beyond.

For walking or mountain biking it is perfect as there are tracks leading in different directions through the forest to both sides of the island whether it is to Agios Iannis the ‘Mamma Mia' church or to the other side of the island for the true adventurers. The village of Glossa is also very close by with various amenities including super markets and restaurants and ease of access to beaches nearby.

Locally there is Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) company, which offers a new fun and relaxing way to play in the water. Standing upright on a SUP board allows you to enjoy the beautiful island scenery as well as a spectacular view down through the clear blue Aegean Sea. Gliding over gentle waves, watching the fish swim beneath your feet, can truly provide the sensation of walking on water. Skopelos stand up paddle boarding offer coaching sessions and tours.

There is also a dive company on the island from Panormos. This is run in a very professional and friendly manner. I highly recommend both of these activities and guests who have tried thes activities have loved their expieriences.

Great house, beautiful views, extremely relaxing!

We stayed for a week in Shane's house and everything was perfect. The pool, the views, the terrace outside (perfect to watch the sun go down in the evening), the bbq area, the fresh tomatoes from the garden, we enjoyed every bit of it. We will definitely try to come back!

Simply stunning

What can I say that has not already been said!

The villa is home from home, with views that just take your breath away, what ever time of day or night is in. We had a wonderful holiday on Skopelos, which is beautiful with such friendly inhabits. We did a day of Kayaking around the island, and a bit of sightseeing (of course, had to be done, Mama Mia Church, with the 300 steps), but the rest of the time was spent at the villa just lazy around the pool with 'that view!' This is our favourite Greek island, flying into Skiathos, doing a bit of plane and ferry watching, while waiting for our ferry. If anyone is worried about connections to the island, it is very simple and arriving at the airport, it is very efficient (a little less efficient departing, but that is partly due to the airport being so small), we had plenty of time to catch our ferry to the island, being treated en-route to watching the dolphins play in the wash of the ferry. Again, we would definitely say a Jeep is a necessarity for the track up to the villa, perhaps not a great track for anyone with a nervous dispersion! For anyone staying at the villa, sending our love to our three friendly cats that joined us at the villa, Ginge, Stubby (lack of tail) and Yappy (did not stop talking to us), it was very hard to leave them and that view. Thank you Shane for letting us stay at your villa.

A holiday in paradise!!

We have just returned from the holiday of a lifetime. I can promise you that you will fall in love with this villa and its surroundings.

We arrived our first night as the sun was setting and we knew instantly choosing Shane's villa was the right decision!!!

You are located in such a high and secluded position that you feel you are literally on top of the world. What can I say about the view... it's breathtaking!!! The villa has everything you could want for but the outside living space has so much more. There are so many different areas to enjoy. We tried to make the most of every part.

Every day was different and beautiful but my favourite way to spend it was waking up and enjoying a coffee on the balcony watching the boats come in. We would then spend the day at one of the many stunning beaches. We would return late afternoon for a dip in the pool and then have a barbecue using the best outdoor kitchen ever!!!

I will never forget our tranquil evenings playing cards listening to the crickets with the smell of pine trees!!!!

Shane... your villa is simply perfect in every way and our family has been left with beautiful memories

We are adamant that we will one day return as nothing else will ever compare to this holiday!!!!

Beautiful Villa with breathtaking views!

We are home from a really wonderful holiday in this beautiful villa and missing those views so much! We really believe the villa has one of the best views on the island, the sunsets with Skiathos & Evia in the distance were stunning - we also had the most amazing storm one night which was a lot of fun to watch from the safety of the veranda (before the rain came at least)!

The villa is very comfortable and well equipped, big beds with those views again and great showers inside and out. We loved the pool too, clean and blue and refreshing with plenty of sturdy sun beds. We were visited on several occasions by the resident peacock and enjoyed warm plums from the trees for breakfast.

Skopelos is a beautiful island, so green and unspoilt. The beaches are gorgeous and not over crowded - our favourite was Panormous for late afternoon sun and dinner on the beach. Skopelos town is typically greek, windy streets to explore, plenty of tavernas to refresh at and gorgeous boats in the port. Nearer to the villa, Glossa is also lovely. A small village with several good places to eat - Agnanti was a treat but our favourite was Plateiu (?) in the top square with delicious food, local musicians and lanterns in the trees - lovely! We wished we hadn't left it so late in our holiday to eat here!

We paddle boarded from Andrina beach which was great fun and hired a boat for a day to explore the coastline.

All in all a fabulous holiday! it is a shame we did not get to meet Shane (our loss from reading previous reviews that he is no longer based on Skopelos) but he was always helpful in answering my questions. Our transfers to and from the island were so easy and straightforward too and the Jimney we hired from Magic cars was great for the steep drive up to the villa.

We very much hope we can return one day!

Beautiful setting looking over stunning views

This Villa is in a private location up in the hills above Glossa with spectacular views over the Med.

I stayed here for ten days and it was a great place to call base and visit the island.It is very comfortable and well appointed with loads of cool outside areas to eat ,chill and relax, not forgetting the lovely pool.

I would love to go back here and hope to soon.

Welcome to Villa Eleonorae!

Villa Eleonorae’s name originated from the falcons that you can see flying over this area. The villa was built by hand in the traditional style of the island, open-beamed chestnut & pine ceilings, wooden balconies, and tiled roofs, complemented by a modern, clean touch and up-to-date fittings and equipment. The spacious balcony of Villa Eleonorae boasts truly staggering views, all the way down to the village of Glossa and Loutraki port as well as taking in the islands of Evia, Skiathos and the Pelion, and as far away as the mainland of Mt. Parnassus. Although close in proximity to the beaches, the port and the Mamma Mia church the villa itself is private & secluded, overlooked by nothing but birds.

The History of Skopelos

The first recorded inhabitants were from the Neolithic period. Since then Skopelos has had a full and colorful history. King Stafylos ruled the island around 1600 BC. Members of the community took part in the Olympic games. Olive oil and its famous wine were exported from the 6th century. The first coin-cutting machine called a ‘Pepa’ was located in Loutraki. Macedonians, Romans and many others have settled here taking advantage of the trading location.

The Geography of Skopelos

Skopelos lies in the west of the Aegean Sea and is part of the Northern Sporades Islands. It boasts a beautiful 67km coastline. Skopelos covers a vast distance of 96 km sq. 80% of this is covered in forestry, with the main tree being Aleppo Pine (pinus halepensis), Holm oaks, olive trees, chestnut trees, walnut trees, pear trees, plum trees, cherry trees and citrus trees also thrive here. The Island has two mountains, the highest being Delphi (680m) and then Palouki (566m) both can be walked up to enjoy a spectacular view at the summit! The main inhabited areas are the capital, Skopelos, Panormos, Elios, Glossa and Loutraki, which all welcome visitors with their traditional tavernas serving local delicacies!

Standing upright on a SUP board allows you to enjoy the beautiful island scenery as well as a spectacular view down through the clear blue Aegean Sea. Skopelos Diving Center offer wreck dives, cavern dives, cliff dives, and boat dives in clear crystal waters, all under the supervision of experienced dive guides and PADI instructors. Diving lessons and emergency first response education are offered for those who want to learn how to dive right in protected waters.

You can also relax and enjoy the view, walk along the scenic trails, visit the many beaches and more! Looking for a specific activity? Just ask!

Coast/Beach

Our nearest swimming beach is a fifteen minute drive from the house. It is a sheltered, pebbles and sandy, clean and safe beach. This beach adjoins the village and is therefore close to amenities such as shops and restaurants. There are scores of small, private beaches and coves that are ideal for bathing and picnics to be found on both sides of the island as close as ten minutes from the house. They are accessible by foot, car and boat.

How to get there

Visitors to the island generally fly into neighbouring Skiathos, there are plenty of charter flights to Skiathos from May to October. A five minute taxi from the airport will take you to the ferry/hydrofoil ticket office, which offers regular ferry/hydrofoil connections to Loutraki and takes no more than 30/20 minutes. The house is located fifteen minutes by car from Loutraki harbour where you will be met and brought to the villa. Car hire that will deliver and collect is recommended and can be organised prior to arrival.

Distances

Glossa (nearest village) - 5 minutes. Loutraki (village and beaches) - 15 minutes. Skopelos (principal town) - 45 minutes.

Further Details

The two local villages Glossa and Loutraki offer a wide range of amenities such as restaurants, bars, shops, bakeries, chemists and banks. Glossa has a good tourist information centre. The nearest medical centre is in Skopelos. Both Glossa and Loutraki offer excellent local colour in the form of restaurants and tavernas. For those seeking the bright lights, Skopelos offers a vibrant night life.

Changeover day is on Friday, as the villa is bookable on a Friday to Friday basis. However we are flexible and we can work around individual travel schedules depending on travel arrangements and length of stay. Any broken items should be replaced or paid for.

In case of cancellation, if made prior to ten weeks before arrival date the deposit will be returned. Cancellation made after the ten weeks prior to arrival result in all payments made being with held and the property being advertised for the dates.

Confirmation for a booking is made by paying 25% of the total within 24 hours of verbal or written confirmation. The balance is paid up to ten weeks before arrival date. Late payments could result in the dates being re advertised. Booking made within the ten weeks are confirmed by the total being paid in one sum.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
