About the property

5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and private pool overlooking the Val d'Orcia

When Eric and Kathy decided to move to Tuscany and give people the kind of holiday that they themselves had always dreamed of - and rarely had had - knew they had found the perfect property in Castelmuzio for many reasons, including:

The view (made famous by the film 'The English Patient'); the medieval village (founded by the Etruscans, over 2500 years ago); proximity to major cultural centers such as Siena, Florence and Rome, as well as the wine areas of Montepulciano, Montalcino and Chianti among others; good restaurants within easy reach, using local products such as truffles, porcini mushrooms and wild boar found in the woods around.

Casa Oliveto is their villa for guests, and is located at the bottom of the olive grove of the property in an area known for the production of the most important Italian extra virgin olive oils. The villa, the pool and the garden are totally private and separate from the main house by an expanse of olive trees.

ACCOMMODATION: The house has two floors with a staircase outside (traditional Tuscan architecture). It 'been completely renovated with terracotta floors, travertine in the bathrooms, and an emphasis on comfort.

Downstairs, the main kitchen is fully equipped with marble top, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, electric kettle, coffee maker, microwave, a multitude of tools, and a large fireplace with traditional wood oven. It is not only adjacent to the indoor dining room, but also to the dining area and outdoor barbecue. The living / dining room is furnished with a large oak table, chairs and sideboard, sofa and hi-fi and Internet WI-FI.

The ground floor also has a master bedroom with en-suite, a second double bedroom with wardrobe and a shared bathroom with the third small room with two beds. All rooms have French doors that open directly onto the garden.

Upstairs there is another double bedroom with bathroom, a small room with two beds and a second bathroom. The rooms are separated by a large living / dining room furnished with sofas, dining table and chairs, TV, DVD / CD and video. A small kitchenette will allow you to prepare breakfast to eat on the balcony enjoying the view of the adjacent hill towns of Pienza and Montalcino, and the majestic Mount Amiata in the distance.

Guests can enjoy each of the swimming pool towel, a bath towel, a towel and guest. These are changed mid-week. All beds are orthopedic, and provides two pillows per person, the bedding down for the winter, 100% cotton linens and blankets in natural fibers. There is a laundry room with washing machine, iron and ironing board and sink.

GARDEN & POOL: The property has an olive grove, a small clearing of pines and several terraces with pergolas covered in vines furnished for outdoor dining or just relaxing.

The infinity pool is large (7 x 16 meters, depth 1.2 to 3.0, meters) and secluded. The lower part is raised above the natural slope of the ground, giving the impression to the swimmers to swim in the Tuscan landscape. E 'it equipped with sun beds and offers both shaded areas that sunny.

Guests of Casa Oliveto will find a welcome basket containing oil Eric, local wine, organic eggs from hens local, fresh baked goods and other local products to pass on the first night and breakfast. There is a phone for local calls, and satellite TV channels in English, Italian and other languages.

Very comfortable.

Casa Oliveto was a perfect place for seven Australians to enjoy a holiday together. Our hosts Kathy and Eric Lyons were very generous towards us and helpful in many ways. We especially loved the village of Castelmuzio with its very friendly inhabitants who were always willing to help us and eating at the two restaurants. The day of the Festa was great fun and I did the walk to Sant Anna in Camprena with the locals enjoying a fest there. followed by lunch and music back in Castelmuzio where we met the mayor! Through Kathy and Eric we were able to visit local farmers and learn about their way of life.We thought all the villages like Montisi, Petrol and Trequanda were enchanting and so easy to drive to. we went on day trips to Siena, Pienza, Arezzo, Montepulciano, Montacilno, Radicofani, San Quirico, Bagno Vignoni, La Foce, Monte Olivetti Maggiore, Sant'Antimo, San Gimignano and Monteriggioni. All these places were easy to drive to and the scenery was fantastic. It is a most beautiful part of the world.

Those of us who were able to hike - walked to Montisi, Petroio , Santa Anna in Camprena, and around Montisi departing from near Montefeltre. Sometimes we drove to Pienza and hiked to Bagno Vignoni or San Quirico from there.

We had great time in the garden of Casa Oliveto and sat looking at the lovely views sipping local wine every evening before going out for a meal or enjoying a home cooked meal.

It was a lovely holiday and we are planning to come back.
