Thinking about making a trip to NY's wine country? Relax in this beautifully decorated lake front cottage on Seneca Lake's west side. Unlike most Seneca Lake rentals, you will have 100 Feet of private lake frontage and almost an acre of privacy at the end of a private drive. Looking out at the lake from the back deck you will notice that you are at the widest point of Seneca Lake. The cottage is only minutes from most of the region’s premier wineries - a few blocks from the Seneca/Keuka Outlet Trail - not to mention, you're a short drive from the towns of Penn Yan, Watkins Glen, Geneva, Hammondsport and Seneca Falls. This cottage is immaculately clean - sleeps 6, and includes a lakeside hot tub, a dock, and 100 ft of level lake frontage. The kitchen, bathroom modernized - cottage completely redecorated. Pet Friendly. Romantic Honeymoon Getaway. We do weddings. We are highest rated accommodations in this area - Award for Excellence every year.
Romantic Destination Weddings: We do creative custom destination weddings, combining our cottage with our country inn, The Savannah House Inn and with a local winery. We still have openings for reservations for weddings in 2010. Plan a reasonable getaway wedding in the heart of the Wine Trail, on the water and at a local winery. Very unique - very cool. Your guests will be talking about it for years.
I'm married with two children (a girl and a boy) and I work with a small technology company in Fairfax County VA. I'm also a partner in a family run inn that sits just 7 miles south of our cottage, overlooking Seneca Lake. I grew up in northern Virginia, outside Washington, DC, and graduated from George Mason University. My family has had a cottage on Seneca since 1930 (my grandparents), and our whole family has a great attachment to the lake. Since I was a child, it was a dream of mine to one day have a place for my own family on Seneca Lake. In 2007 we made that dream a reality, and now we would love to share this beautiful spot with you!
Pat Hoke purchased this cottage in 2007
I love Seneca Lake and I wanted to have my own cottage, just as others in my family do. This area happens to be one of the most choice locations on the whole lake. It has easy access all year, an awesome view of the lake, lots of privacy, and plenty of land to add on in the future. It's also one of the most convenient locations to the wineries and to shopping.
This cottage sits in such a unique setting, with around 100ft of private, grassy, level lake frontage. It's also very private, with only one distant neighbor. The cottage sits on the widest part of Seneca Lake and because it faces north east, you have an extremely expansive view of the lake.
The cottage was perfect for our Thanksgiving getaway. As newcomers to the area, we had no accomodations suitable for entertaining our out-of-town guests, the parents! The cottage was cozy and quiet but clean and well appointed. The kitchen was spacious and the veiws are awesome. Thanks to Pat for getting our TV glitch sorted out right away; I couldn't imagine a Thanksgiving without football!
Anyone looking for a getaway anytime of the year should look into that cottage. Cheers!
We shared this very cute cottage with another couple for a week of wine tasting and sight-seeing and overall it was a great experience. We would return to this cottage as the location was perfect, the cottage was nicely decorated and comfortable and it was well equipped with the essentials needed. We had a great view of the lake and it was very quiet. Photos of the cottage were accurate. This is not a large cottage but accommodated 4 adults nicely. The location was right next to a Naval facility with a huge barge on the shoreline. This did not affect us negatively but renters should be aware of this as morning activity included wakening to a walkie-talkie over loud speakers as the service boats were leaving the facility. After the boats left in the morning, there was little activity after that so if you are an early riser, this should not affect you at all. Private setting as the neighbors were away. A few items would have made this a five rating: 1) for the beginning of the week, we had the windows open with a delightful breeze floating through the cottage but as the week heated up, the inside air conditioner units were not equipped to handle the heat, especially in the bedrooms (we were there during a 90+ degree hot spell), 2) WIFI was sporadic, 3) bedrooms were very small with closets but no dresser (comfortable queen beds took up the entire room) and 4) we had to use the bathroom shelves for our food because all cabinets were full of dishes/glasses - would have been great to have at least one cabinet left free for us to put our food. Suggestion: put some shelves in the closet in the kitchen. Close to Watkins Glen (30 mins), Geneva (20 mins) and Pen Yan (10 mins) and numerous excellent wineries. Also, really good ice cream (Mr. Twistees) was within walking distance! Enjoyed our stay here very much and as I said we will consider returning here next year.
This place was awesome: clean, tranquil and serene. Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and well made before our arrival.
The owners have maintained their rental unit very meticulously and given it a very warm cozy yet homey feel.
The lake views from the deck were breathtaking. And to boot, the little township is picturesque.
In short: no complaints and highly recommended!
The cottage was as advertised. It was perfect for a weekend away for some quiet R and R. Our only regret was that we hadn't planned more time. The location was convenient for our weekend itinerary which included wine tasting around Keuka Lake, dinner in Geneva and a quick stop in Watkins Glenn. Communication with the owner and staff was easy and fast during booking. The only delays in responses were on my end. I look forward to future stays.
My stay at the cottage was great! It was very clean and quaint. The view was gorgeous and the beds were comfortable. We especially loved the hot tub. We can't wait to come back in the spring. The only constructive criticism I have is to extend the check out time. 10am was difficult and prevented us from fully enjoying the cottage in the morning.
We had a great time staying there on the lake! The house was pretty true to the pictures, it is by no means "modern" but it was clean. The unobstructed view of the lake was amazing. We liked the hot tub. Didn't actually use the fire pit but that's also a nice touch. The rooms were pretty tight, storing luggage and maneuvering around the bed was difficult. We were vacationing with my in-laws and there was definitely less privacy than expected because of the way the doors are for the rooms, so that was a little awkward. Definitely wouldn't be my first recommendation for more than 1 couple with that feature. It's super convenient to the wineries which was really nice. We enjoyed the trail that was close by and being able to walk to the ice cream place up the street was nice. Other than that it was a quiet area which is great if that's what you're looking for, I imagine if a group of college kids were there they would probably want restaurants/bars in walking distance. I, on the other hand, liked having a kitchen to make my own food and having the pots and pans there was convenient.
I was terrified after reading another review of bugs the day before we left to drive to this cottage, but there are no roaches (no evidence of them either), and we only saw one daddy long legger. The location is great, right on Seneca Lake at the dead end of a quiet road. As another reviewer mentioned, there was a loud facility next door that was up very early... The cottage is cute and well-decorated as you go in the door to the right (bedrooms and living room/ dining). The bedrooms are tiny with just enough space to walk around the bed. The kitchen and bathroom are in need of cosmetic repair, but are functional. We found it strange that we were required to check in, but the owner never answered or called back to see if we needed any info/ anything. It was a nice stay and the hot tub was nice as well.
Enjoy all that the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York has to offer. You are only minutes from the regions premier wineries and in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine trail. Enjoy local geologic wonders such as Watkins Glen or Glenora falls, or explore the many nearby towns such as Penn Yan, Geneva, Seneca Falls, Hammonds Port or Canandaigua. If you enjoy hiking or mountain biking, the cottage is walking distance from the scenic Keuka Lake outlet trail that connects Keuka Lake with Senca Lake, and follows the historic canal that once served these two lakes. Feel like exploring other lakes besides Seneca? Within one day you can visit almost all of the region's lakes from this location.
