About Helene Orsulak

We are retired boomers who live in Denver when not enjoying our home in Hana.

Helene Orsulak purchased this house in 2000

Why Helene Orsulak chose Maui

Though we were not in the market for property, the previous owner offered it for sale to his tenants of the previous year. We enjoyed our stay so much, we bought the place!

Paradise Found Again!

  • 5 of 5

After 10 years, we returned to Hale Heavenly Hana and fell in love again with its fruits and flowers, its peace, its magic. There are new plantings to add to its diversity. Walking around the eight acres, the fragrances and explosive colors brought us right back to our first mesmerizing visit. We harvested lilikoi and cooked an amazing sauce for our ono. We picked limes and squeezed their juices on the harvested papayas which melted in our mouths. Last time there were three of us - my husband, our daughter and me. This time we were joined by our new son-in-law as we introduced him to my Maui Ohana. MAHALO for sharing and growing the ALOHA SPIRIT Helen and Paul! We won’t wait so long next time!

Lovely, relaxing, rejuvenating retreat in Hana

  • 4 of 5

Our family of four spent 3 nights at the house and enjoyed every minute. The property was clean, the furniture very comfortable, fhe kitchen well stocked. We spent a great deal of time relaxing on the screen porch - truely lovely.

My only critiques (and they're very minor) are that the house could use a few more places to hang up towels and swimsuits and that the second bedroom was uncomfortably warm. The rest of the house cooled down nicely as soon as we opened up the windows but the ceiling fan in the spare bedroom wasn't working during our stay. Minor inconvenience and not one that would stop me from staying.

There are geekos here and there but that didn't bother us. We LOVED staying in Hana and being much more relaxed about seeing sights. No rushing down the Road to Hana for us! House is located a short drive outside Hana and we loved feeling like we had our own little slice of paradise to return to after activities.

The outdoor shower and soaking tub are luxurious. Wonderful additions to an already fantastic property.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed the Hale during your visit to Hana. It was unfortunate timing that your visit coincided with the failure of the fan in the guestroom. We were working on finding a replacement switch and had to conduct an extensive search since the original one was obsolete. It has now been repaired and I hope future guests will find the room as inviting as the master bedroom. There are clothes lines for swimsuits and towels in the carport, and most of our guests press the surrounding deck railings into service if necessary. I hope this was not a major inconvenience, and that we can welcome you back to the Hale in the future.

Paradise in Hana - our second visit

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic second time in paradise at the Hale in Hana. We stayed here last year and liked it so much we had to return this year. Helene and Paul provide visitors with an exceptional experience to stay at their house. The house is in excellent condition and beautifully decorated and that is just the beginning of a great relaxing environment. The 8 acres of lush landscaping including a variety of tropical flowers and fruits is a delight to roam and explore (it your own private tropical arboretum) and expect to be delighted by the best avocados you have ever ate. This years crop is fantastic. Lets not forget the patch of cacao trees on the property is an additional interesting and unexpected find.

We have been to Hana a total of five times over the years and will never drive the road to Hana and back out the same day again...there is a too much to see in the area that you will miss in a one day tour. Instead, reserve this property and treat yourself to a relaxing few days of paradise and leisurely explore all that Hana and the surrounding area have to offer.

Lets not forget to mention the small family run Cacao Plantation - Hana gold nearby that provides a nice tour of their small but excellent chocolate bar production - "branch to bar". We enjoyed learning about the whole process and especially loved sampling the cacao during various steps in the process.

The housekeeper preps the house with a nice selection of fruit to eat as well as a beautiful tropical arrangement on the dining table and on the lanai. The house is well equipped for cooking with all essential spices and cooking utensils. Stop by Whole Foods and bring your food with you on the road to Hana since the best dining experience is to be had on the lanai overlooking the 8 acres of paradise. Dining and shopping in Hana is limited and expensive but available at the Travaasa hotel and from food trucks and farm stands. The farm stand within walking distance is one of the best in the area and a must for some banana bread or another pineapple that are so tasty.

Our stay in Hana was the highlight of out trip to Kauai and Maui. We rented nice accommodations and enjoyed our stay in Princeville Kauai and in Kapalua Maui but this Luxury home on the Hana coast is our must stay location for any trip to Maui and we checked availability before booking our flights.

The images are accurate of what the house is like but expect to be really wowed when you see if all for yourself

A whole week of pure bliss...

  • 5 of 5

This is our second time staying at this beautiful house and property. Strange how a whole week didn't seem long enough. My wife and I live on Maui so this was our little staycation to relax and feel the true energy (Mana) of Hana. We are already making plans to come back to this breath taking place. Mahalo Helene and Paul for taking such good care of your house and property. Mahalo for allowing us to spend some quality time in your home.

Aloha, Ron and Sonja

Beautiful home, wonderful property.

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful home, gorgeous property, minutes from downtown Hana and Hana area attractions. My family and I highly recommend this home. We stayed 3 nights at Hale Heavenly Hana with my two adult children and my wife. The home is immaculate, and outfitted with top of the line amenities including a gourmet kitchen with everything you need to cook, indoor/outdoor showers and a fully screened-in wrap around deck. The owners provided us great suggestions on local activities, local outfitters and all information necessary to insure a wonderful time. When we arrived we found an arrangement of fresh tropical flowers and a bowl of fresh fruit from their garden. It felt as though we were not staying at a rental but visiting our friends home. We visited 4 different parts of the Island during our Maui visit including Kapalua, Wailea, Kula. Without compare our time in Hana and along the Hana Highway was the highlight of our trip. Don't miss it.
