About Ken Bloch

For the last 20 years I have been a full-time Realtor, currently with Keller Williams Realty in Charlotte, NC. Specializing in the Lake Norman area about 20 miles north of Charlotte. Over the years I have learn location, location location are the 3 most important words in real estate. I strongly feel that I have a great central location to all the activities you will want to do on your visit to the High Country. Come spend sometime at my cabin and find out for yourself!

Ken Bloch purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Ken Bloch chose Blowing Rock

Being a Realtor I know that LOCATION is key when buying Real Estate. I spent several years looking for the perfect cabin in the perfect location and I finally found it. The Crystal Mountain neighborhood is well hidden but easy to get to yet it's conveniently located 6-7 miles from Blowing Rock, Boone, Valle Crucis (home of the Original Mast General Store) and many other nearby amenities including Boone Golf Course, which is open to the public, numerous great places to hike, Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, and Banner Elk.

What makes this cabin unique

Peace and quite, beautiful views, nature (a good chance you will see deer or turkeys) all of the great amenities I have added to the cabin including pool table, hot tub, 60 inch Plasma TV to watch your favorite sports team or Blue Ray for movies, TV's in every bedroom, some with DVD's and a 40" Flat Panel LED Smart TV & DVD player in family room. You won't be roughing it here.

Overall was fantastic, well maintained and clean. beautiful views and nice spacious cabin with a great 6p hot tub and billiards. The kids enjoyed this and playing with the leaves in the garden. Even had some deer pass by. If you are looking for a great deal then this is it. Loved going to grandfather mountain and went to the hickory live museum to learn about seddler history in the mountains. We will definitely consider coming back here next time!

Secluded, very quiet community

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time while staying at this house. I couldn't believe how quiet the area was. The hot tub was great to relax in after a day of hiking, etc. The pool table added some spice to the evenings. Great place to stay!

Peaceful mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great experience at this home. We found the home clean and very comfortable. The house is spacious and roomy and provided everyone with their own space. The guys watched college football on the big screen television downstairs while the women had room to read and visit on the main floor. The central location enabled us to all go in many different directions. My sister graduated from Appalachian State University and she elected to visit Boone. Some of the women went shopping in Blowing Rock and some of the guys went hiking at various locations. We loved relaxing in the hot tub. We also enjoyed the grill one night and having a pool table was entertaining. The kitchen was well furnished and we enjoyed cooking and eating there. It is somewhat isolated and not within walking distance to any town . The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. Overall, we had a really nice time here and it was an enjoyable getaway.

Beautiful Cabin! Great location!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time I have rented Ken Bloch's home and we will return next year! It is very well maintained and clean, with plenty of room for everyone. The pool table, hot tub and large tv keep us entertained long after we return from exploring the area. If you are looking to get away and have some peace and quiet, the deck has great rocking chairs and the view is lovely. Especially watching the sun rise in the morning.

The location is ideal as well. We visited Blowing Rock, Boone, Banner Elk, Altapass Apple Orchard and hiked Linville Falls. There are lots of restaurants and Ken provides you with an extensive list of things to do and places to go in the area. He is very responsive if there are any problems or questions and it is a pleasure to rent from him. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Nice but things to know in advance...

  • 3 of 5

This is a nice house, but we also found it not clean. The owner said he'd look into it, but I see from a review a month later the same issue persists. There is NO WAY this house is wheelchair accessible, as the listing indicates. There are many stairs to get in and out of the house and no ramps. Also, it's very remote and would be hard to find in the dark, and you have to bring everything you could conceivably want to use, including toilet paper, dish soap, laundry soap, dishwasher soap, paper towels, dish towels, etc. It does have a kitchen with plates and silverware. We didn't bring laundry soap because it was a short trip, but then we couldn't wash sheets that were on the beds that were clearly dirty or the towels, which were not clean and smelled bad even before we used them. On the positive side, the owner is nice and quickly responded to a question while we were there.

Owner's Response: If there is ever an issue with cleanliness and I am aware of it, I can contact the housekeeper for a return visit to address the items. I only have one step from the driveway onto the deck, which you can then enter the cabin and everything you would need is on that level (kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom). Most mountain cabins are in remote areas and I give very detail directions to my cabin. Many guests have come when it's dark and no one has ever called me to say I can't find your cabin. I also give a very detail list of cabin instructions and what you need to bring which is emailed to each guest so there should be no surprises if the instructions are read. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, glassware, plates, etc. I am sorry that this guest had a bad experience but they were made aware of the items needed to bring before arrival.
