Excellent flat, location and owners!!

We just returned from our vacation and I wanted to be sure to get this review in. The flat in Kensington was just about perfect. The pictures accurately reflect the apartment. We loved the neighborhood. It was not touristy at all. The apartment is clean and 2 bathrooms are a real bonus. I agree with another reviewer, a bed this size is very rare. My husband and I have a king bed at home and the small queens in Europe are not comfortable for us. We are 67 and 70 but travel in Europe a lot so the stairs were not unexpected. Just be aware and be careful if you're a bit older. The door lock: on the introduction paper it says it is a Mortise lock. Being from the SW part of the US we were not familiar with what that means. It means you will lock yourself into the apartment if you don't reset the lock. Maybe a small explanation would help. It's a funny story now but when we couldn't get out the first morning we were a bit worried. We called Emma and she responded immediately with directions so it was all fine. The South Kensington tube station is a short walk and it will easily get you where you need to be. A tip: Buy an Oyster card immediately upon arriving for all public transportation. Muriel's Kitchen by the tube stop is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. If you like to play poker or casino games there is a lovely casino about 2 blocks from this apartment. It was fun to go there when we got home in the evenings. You can easily walk to Hyde park, Harrods, great London museums and the tube for everything else. I would stay again and absolutely recommend this lovely apartment to everyone. Thank you Emma and Myles

Ideal location and flat for family

We stayed with our 2 young daughters for a week. The flat is in an ideal location - close to the underground, Hyde Park, restaurants and grocery. It is a spacious flat with lots of light - and having 2 bathrooms is a big bonus. The key drop off/pick up was very close and convenient. Having the Wi Fi and the washer/dryer was great. The owners were always very responsive to inquiries. I would recommend booking/paying through the site rather than directly to make the process more straightforward. While we had no issue with the stairs - If you have mobility issues - you should note that there are stairs outside leading down to the flat. Overall, we would definitely recommend.

Great stay

My family of four (two adults and two kids, ages 6 & 8) had a great stay in this flat. Myles and Emma were very responsive if we needed anything (which we didn't often). The two bathrooms were very helpful. The location was perfect for our needs - a residential area with plenty of cute restaurants in walking distance, and only a few tube stops from many tourist attractions.

Great location, nicely appointed

My teenage kids and I really enjoyed our stay at this flat. There was plenty of room to relax after long days of siteseeing. Among its best qualities are its comfortable furnishings and its location--literally equidistant from two tube stations, on a residential street with lovely cafes and shops, including grocers and bakeries, in very close proximity. Everything about the flat was comfortable and convenient: the kitchen, though compact, has everything we needed including a good sized fridge and freezer. Wi fi helped us keep in touch with our family and friends back home. The owners were very responsive to our every request and question. Plenty of natural light, despite the fact that the flat is a lower unit. The entire transaction and experience was lovely. We will definitely return.

Well presented unit & comfortable

Don't be put off by the fact that it'a a lower ground apartment. As the flat is larger than average, the sense of being below ground is not so great. Large front windows also help. It's a comfortable flat, has a huge bed in the bedroom, and the bedroom itself is quite large. The flat would be suitable for a family of 3 to 4 though in theory it could sleep 6. The ensuite is handy when 2+ are staying. For kids or adults that like to relax watching TV after a big day sight seeing, plenty of TV channels ! Wi Fi works very well., All basic needs are near by, supermarkets ( though note that they are only the smaller "express" type as we call them in Australia, so don't expect to buy your gourmet needs there ! ), banks, pharmacy, South Kensington tube station and a few buses. Quite a few places to eat, but bear in mind that South Kensington is perhaps not the cheapest place in London to eat out ! Overall, a good place to stay in London and reasonably priced considering it's "posh' South Kensington and reasonably convenient to most attractions in London. Missed out on 5 stars due to a few minor maintenence issues that we mentioned to Myles, and I am sure he will (and perhaps already has) arrange to fix up.

Regarding the front door - it is a little unusual for non UK guests - place key in lock - turn clockwise to open once open turn key to 'noon' / neutral to remove - don't turn key anti clockwise or it sets the mortice lock which may result in difficulty exiting once the door has been closed - it is a very strong lock so there is no need to set the mortice from inside ( ie don't engage the mortice using the little button on the back of the door lock )
Please note that £300 damage deposit is payable and assuming no major damage refunded within 7 working days of departure
