About the property

In the spacious living / dining room with open kitchen, you can relax

Ferme La Besse is an independent farmhouse that has been completely restored. The farm has been tastefully renovated to a high standard, so that it is a very comfortable place to stay. Ferme La Besse is situated on the top of a hill surrounded by six acres of rolling land with exceptionally stunning views, that not even a picture can capture. French people who have rented the farm before have often said,La vue est imprenable, Meaning that it is impossible to capture the outstanding view on a photo.

The interior lay out is as follows:

Ground floor:

The ground floor is 88 m 2 and includes: living / dining room and kitchen. From the living room, you go through the hallway to a bathroom that has been tastefully decorated. Next to the bathroom there is a small bedroom overlooking the pool.

The spacious living, dining and kitchen adjoining areas have patio doors to the gardens. The living and dining area is visually separated by two sofas and an elegant fireplace. The kitchen is a practical tailor made kitchen, equipped with all modern appliances.

The dining room with a six person dining table has sliding glass doors to the terrace behind the farm. Here you can have breakfast quietly under the fruit trees and enjoy the rising sun and the deer that transport you into a dream world as you contemplate the relaxing view of the distant horizon.

The living room has two double sofas and two chairs with an authentic farm fireplace where you can relax and read quietly. There is also a TV and CD player here. There is a telephone , internet with WIFI

The ground floor has an oak beamed ceiling and a tiled floor and many charming details.

We now climb the generous staircase which leads to the first floor..

First floor:

The first floor consists of two spacious and cozily furnished bedrooms. Both bedrooms have views over the delightful green landscape. The bedrooms are adjacent to a toilet facility.

The front garden and pool:

The living room has patio doors to the front yard where there are decorative shrubs, roses and fruit trees. There is a gravel area for parking your car. From the front yard to the left of the farm there is a completely enclosed garden with rose bushes, ornamental plants and flowers. The salt water pool which measures 13 m x 5 m has a safety fence and an alarm. In the daytime you can relax beside the turquoise water and in the evening sit around the pool and enjoy the dance of the stars on the water. Beside the pool there is a spacious terrace with sun loungers, a parasol for sunbathing and a porch under which you can have lunch, dinner and barbecues. From the terrace you have a beautiful panoramic view of the rolling landscape of fields and woods. The exceptional views of the surrounding hills and the intimacy of Ferme La Besse are conducive to a very relaxing holiday. There is a pool house attached to the terrace with a toilet, shower and sink. In the pool house is a large freezer refrigerator where you can store your grocery shopping . There are many wonderful walks in this area and if the weather conditions are right you may be lucky enough to find mushrooms such as cèpes and chanterelle

Périgord Noir in the Dordogne is the region with a thousand and one castles.

The farm is located near the picturesque Montignac with the famous Lascaux caves and Les Eyzies with its prehistoric caves. A little further away is Sarlat, a beautiful medieval town where you will undoubtedly enjoy the medieval Anton Pieck like houses and the extensive Saturday morning market .

Culinary and Wine

Good food and wine, this is paradise on earth, said the beloved French king Henri IV. Dordogne has a rich culinary tradition. The Périgord Noir is the supplier of fine French products like wine, truffles, very special mushrooms like Cèpes, duck, not to mention the specialties of foie gras and the famous Demoiselle (the whole chicken grilled on a wood fire).

You may not feel like cooking? There are plenty of restaurants in the area of all categories; simple restaurants for example in farms, to restaurants with outstanding culinary menus.

Other comments

When you arrive you will be welcomed by a caring manager who will show you around and tell you all you need to know about the farm. He is always available during your stay to answer your questions and should you wish you can make arrangements with him for the farm to be cleaned during your stay.

Tranquil location

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our weeks holiday in August 2015 at this lovely tranquil environment. The pool area overlooks the valley and offers a stunning view and a relaxing setting. The village of St. Leon-sur-Vezere offers a beautiful village and good restaurants by the river. The owner is very friendly and welcoming to ensure all your needs are catered for.

What a wonderful place, what a wonderful host!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent two perfect weeks of holidays in ferme la besse. It`s an amazing place! A beautiful, very tastefully decorated house. Clean, lots of space, big bathroom, well equipped kitchen. It is totally calm and the view is breathtaking. The pool is super clean, with a perfect quality of water. It`s a perfect place to relax and enjoy real silence. Most of the main sights in perigord are easy and fast to get to, but you definitely need a car.

Henry, the owner of the ferme, is a great guy, very helpfull and always easy to contact. Thank you so much, Henry!

We can highly recommend this very special place!!!!

We hope to come back one day!
