Welcome to Big Bay, home to windsurfers, kite surfers and surfers. This stunning top floor apartment, 3rd floor, is situated in a secure complex. The balcony and master bedroom have panoramic views of Robben Island, Table Mountain, Lions head, Robben Island, Devils Peak, stretches of white beaches and the spectacular Atlantic Ocean sunsets.

You are away from the hustle and bustle of the city yet only 15 min drive from it!

We were captivated by this beautiful city and now we feel proud to be able to show others what they are missing. Big Bay is wonderful. You not only have a constant view but it is situated on the edge of a beautiful residential area. Following this is miles and miles of conservation area that quite literally goes on forever. In Spring (Sep) this whole area is one big carpet of flowers and is breathtaking. We loved Camps Bay, Hout Bay and the surrounding areas but when you sit on the balcony and watch the sun set or the flicker of the city lights at night you truly feel you are away from it all in Big Bay. You have the luxury of enjoying the best view in all of the Western Cape.

Out and About: Whether driving into Cape Town or to the Waterfront there is ample to do and eat. A brand new waterfront area has opened on the beach front and has ample restaurants and shops to enjoy. The world famous Spier Wine estate's MOYO restaurant experience has opened its doors on the beach front too. Enjoy a beach extravaganza of board walks and fun right on your doorstep! Further afield there is Canal Walk which has a big casino which incorporates an ice rink, movies, top restaurants and arcade for children. You can also take a boat cruise from the V & A waterfront. There are many different ones-see the whales, the seals, the penguins, Robben Island or just relax on a sunset cruise. Drive to Cape Point, where the Indian Ocean meets the Atlantic Ocean, and climb to the point. Here you are at the tip of Africa!

For adrenaline junkies there is abseiling off Table Mountain, Swimming with the great white sharks, paragliding and hang gliding. You can also fly in an ex-Vietnam US marine corps Huey helicopter which takes you round the coast and straight past the apartment. Just pass Big Bay there is sand surfing amongst the white dunes-an amazing experience. Follow this with quad biking in the bush-a must do! All this within 40 min of your apartment.

A representative will meet you at the apartment when you arrive and leave. A local contact number will be provided should there be any queries-this includes what to do! Any additional requests can be discussed.

Internet can be provided but must be requested before your stay. It is pay-as-you-go system. The wifi is wireless but is not high speed. An initial charge of £15 will provide you with 3GB of data. This is payable on booking. Should you need any additional data this can be purchased yourselves at the local shop,details of which are provided on booking.

Please be aware that the internet speed can drop down at certain times of the day. Unfortunately this is out of our control.

The modem is portable though so can be taken out and about.

24 hour security on site. Access via security guards on remote controlled gates. Two parking spaces in secure garage under apartment. There is a lovely little wooden play park for children in the complex, Leather lounge suite and mahogany wood. Granite surfaces in kitchen with slate tiled floor. Gloss tiled finish to floors. INTERNET We started providing Internet to our guests in January 2015. Our lovely apartment might have a wonderful position for views but unfortunately not so for Internet coverage. The fact that there is no telephone line in the apartment adds to the dilemma. Our only option available to us that provides Internet is a portable modem. It is the size of a small mobile phone and as its name says is totally mobile. This allows guests to move it around in the apartment or take it out with them on their travels. Most guests tell us they do and love it. It's their own personal 3G! The signal can be temperamental at times in the apartment but that is out of our control

A beautiful well maintained apartment. Well equipped, Great location and great price. Even though we arrived Christmas day, Steve was there to meet us with a smile, and on request by prior arrangement done some basic food shopping for me.

Perfect location

We've stayed in Cape Town and the surroundings many times before but never Big Bay. We chose the location after a week touring further up the coast and wanted to relax. The location was perfect, so close to the beach, shops and restaurants, the complex was very quiet and within 5 minutes walk to various shops and the beach and only a 30 minute drive to the centre of Cape Town. Accommodation was spotless with everything we required with the most stunning views of Table Mountain and the sunsets, far better than being in Cape Town itself. We shall definitely return for another relaxing stay.

We stayed for 5 nights and couldn't have been happier. Communication before we left was comprehensive, directions and information great.

The apartment is clean and bright, has everything we needed as a family.

The location is excellent. Lovely views all the amenities you need are near by and Cape Town is easily accessible.

All in all this apartment was perfect for our stay. Thank you.

Beautiful apartment with fantastic view

We fully endorse the comments of other tenants. The apartment is perfect and has a fantastic view towards Table Mountain. We enjoyed many afternoons on the sunny balcony. But - there is direct access from the parking basement to the apartment, but a access by a narrow staircase with 48 steps so it's a little difficult to get big suitcases up to the apartment

Blouberg South Africa accommodation - Grande Bay development

This is well located in the Tableview/Blouberg/Melkbos area within walking distance of Big Bay Beach and an excellent choice of shopping and groceries in the immediate area.

The apartment itself is very modern and well furnished and other than the very firm / board like mattress, very comfortable. There are two bedrooms.

It is located on the top floor so a walk up a number of flights of stairs from the secured and covered parking is required.

These are the other elements that need attention:

Reliable TV service was not our experience as the signal was lost after a couple of hours and not reinstated- may not be relevant to you.

There is a radio and at 97.1 the Fine Music Radio option is available.

The WIFI is very weak and highly problematic so a stronger better quality service is essential.

The door lock to the apartment works flawlessly once you've worked out where to apply the pressure on the key so this needs to be changed and work nor mally. It was amajor hassle until I worked it out.

The exterior security gate needs replacing. Both an eyesore and not capable of being locked from the inside if needed. Security is very good so it may not be something you need.

The electric fan needed in a heatwave or coldspell is defective and needs to be replaced. It works for a bout 30 seconds and then shuts down.

If the above elements are not needed for your stay they it is a 5 star experience but if required make sure to address with the owner ahead of time.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review. So pleased you loved the area. It's a real gem. We are very very sorry you had a few issues to contend with. We work hard to make sure all our guests have an enjoyable stay. We have spoken to Steve to find out where and why things were not up to standard. We apologise for the loss in TV signal. Following your call to Steve when it happened he did find out that there was a problem with the satellite signal on the day and the box needed adjusting. He did try call back and then came to the apartment the following day so he could do the necessary fix for you. Unfortunately he was not able to make contact with you. As he never heard from you again he assumed it was rectified. Our wifi is not fantastic we totally agree. Some days are better than others but we do explain this under our apartment details and also in the hospitality details that are accesable to all guests. The apartments position makes a wifi signal very hard to maintain. It's got a wonderful position for views but a bad one for internet signal. We can't change that but have managed to come up with a solution. That being a portable modem that can go anywhere. Up until January 2015 we were unable to have any internet at all. The compromise for guests is taking the modem out and about for those times you need a better signal. It's something that as far as we were aware guests were very happy with. The security gate and the door lock have just been replaced as was planned. It now looks fabulous! The sea air causes huge issues with rust and we change both of these every few years as a result. The sea is the apartments nemesis! We totally agree it did not look great and was not a fantastic first impression. Apologies if Steve was not clear on this change happening. He did show you how to use them when he arrived but we appreciate this probably was not thorough enough. The fan has been replaced. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. It was a new one that ironically had replaced an old one. Steve would have happily replaced it for you had you let him know. We encourage guests to please contact Steve should they have any problems. He likewise says the same when he meets everyone. He's 5 minutes away and will always endeavour to get back to everyone in a reasonable time span. There are going to be unforeseen problems at times. All we ask is that we are told about them and given the chance to rectify them.

Home from home. A very enjoyable experience.

First & foremost; the owners, Rachel & Alan, are a pleasure to deal with, as was Rachel's Dad, Steve, the local 'contact point'. All communications were answered promptly, politely, and importantly, honestly, and all instructions clear and precise! The apartment is exactly as described; what-you-see is what-you-get; it's a delight!

This was our sixth visit to the Cape area, but the first time we had taken the 'risk' of renting an apartment, rather than staying in a city hotel, and we couldn't really have asked for much more. We felt right at home, comfortable and relaxed, from the moment we stepped through the front door.

For those who are self-catering we found the 'Seaside Village' complex (just 500m along the road) to be a much better option than 'Eden' with a great Checkers supermarket, and a Woolworths Food outlet.

For those who prefer not to self-cater, locally, in 'Seaside Village', we can highly recommend 'Cape Town Fish Market' and 'ColCacchio' a Pizza/Pasta/Salad house; both very tasty with great service; while just 2/3K down the road into Blouberg there is a 'Cattle Baron' for excellent steaks. (Don't be put off by the 'shabby' looking exterior; inside it's great, and the steaks are to die for!).

Location wise, the apartment is at the north-end of the Bloubergstrand reach, so, realistically, is a good 30 minute drive to the Cape Town Waterfront, but once you've done it a couple of times, you get used to the added distance to get to the city. Conversely, it's only a 30+ minute drive north to West Coast National Park area. Access to all main areas of interest is easy with good freeway/highway connectivity to the winelands, Cape-Point peninsular, and southern coast.

To be fair, there is one downside to the apartment! It's on the third floor, so while views are great, across Table Bay to Robben Island and Table Mountain... there is no lift... so, as my wife pointed out on a number of occasions... there are 48 stair-steps from the under-cover car-park to the landing, and all baggage has to be man-handled up & down; certainly not a huge issue, but worth noting... but once you're inside with a nice cold glass of wine, admiring the views, the 'mountaineering' is soon forgotten!

Would we rent here again... most certainly YES. Would we recommend... most certainly YES. All in all, a very enjoyable experience. Thank-you.

Bloubergstrand is situated opposite Table Bay which allows it to have the best views in the Western Cape. The picture postcard photos are taken all along this beach. It is also one of the top beaches in the world for kite surfing.

A brand new Waterfront area has opened in front of the apartment. (500m away) There are stunning restaurants and cafes right on the beach as well as a multitude of shops. You can fine dine or simply grab a coffee on the decked promenade and watch the sea roll in on the beach. You can walk to it all! Everything you need is right on your doorstep and best of all the views from the apartment are not compromised due to its much higher position.

If you dont feel like driving, a fantastic new bus system has been introduced in Cape Town called 'MY CITI BUS' These busses are wonderful for using to get around both the area and to Cape Town cente. The bus stop is situated just outside to the left of the complex and the stop/route is called F14-Big Bay.

We have used it ourselves and its so slick, easy and very cheap!.

To use this bus system you do need to purchase a special payment card that is 'loaded' with your bus money and you then use this to pay for your journeys. No cash is accepted on the busses. We can provide all the information should you need it.

A world class golf course is 5 minutes down the road-Atlantic Beach golf course along with sand boarding and quad biking.. The wine lands of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are roughly a 35 minute drive away.

Other Activities: Sand surfing, quad biking, parachuting

Golf: Atlantic Beach Golf Estate is 2 km from the apartment. The qualifiers for the European Open was held at this golf course. It is spread along the coast and is set amongst a secure residential estate. It too has the views of the sea and Table Mountain.
