Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Full Bath, Sleeps Six

Nestled in a private community, hidden in the forest with views of

the Mountains and the Lake, Pocomoonshine, once discovered

becomes a cherished sanctuary, many times for many generations.

Hark back to a former time, a simpler time, far away yet close to everything.

Our year round camp entices everyone with it’s rustic charm, multilingual library, large country kitchen, screened porch and great outdoors with Adirondack chairs. Carefully restored and refurbished, keeping the antiquarian charm yet offering modern comforts. There is a wood stove to take the chill out of the cool nights and a Hot Tub to warm up your spirit. Plentiful windows frame a landscape wherein you feel in concert with and cradled by Mother Nature.

Our camp is located about 80' from the shore, accessible by foot path, leading to our private dock.

You never want to leave and always await your return.

Great Room - Library: The Queen Size Futon is located in the Living Room / Library. Here one (or two or three) sleep in this great, open room with high ceilings, twin paddle fans overhead, wood stove with a blazing fire, and a dream catcher to protect your sleep. The atmosphere is of so many adventures in hundreds of books waiting on the shelves, antique lamps providing the light, animal masks adorning the wall. Share scary stories or listen to gentle lullabies of Chopin played on the LP record player. Where will you choose to go in your dreams tonight?

Kitchen: The heart of the house is the good ole’ country kitchen. It is warm and inviting for gathering together or sitting in solitude on the window seat and taking in the beauty of nature.

The butcher block with pots hanging above calls to the chef to create that memorable meal. He(She) will find no tools lacking for that task. The antique cherry dinner table is a perfect place for the romantic dinner for two or for a whole family to have an evening of talks and games.

Porch: Fresh breezes blow in from the adjacent enclosed, screened porch - A perfect place to greet the morning, or soak in the rays of the setting sun. The colorful radiance of the room hugs you with joy and happiness. The Mexican tile table, wrought iron cushioned couch and chairs, and swinging chair create the atmosphere to inspire the artist within you.

Songs about children have been written on this porch.

Inspired by my own travels and world explorations, with a desire to share some of my favorite and special places with others, I created OurSecretGetaways.net. It is with pleasure that I open the door to our Vacation Homes so you too can create your own unforgettable memories. Being an avid traveler myself, I know what I appreciate when I stay at different destinations. My goal is to use that experience in creating and providing the best atmosphere for our guests.

I strive to create in each of our retreats a unique experience, reflecting the ambiance of the area, the cultural character and natural environment. My joy springs from feeling the soul of each area and property and infusing that spirit artfully throughout the home, the landscaping and amenities provided. A confluence of nature's beauty with interior design is communicated through color harmony, original art, comfort and the intimate warmth of a loved home. Whichever secret getaway that you may choose be assured that you will find a home where you can fully relax, be comfortable and bask in the sensual pleasures of the unique esthetic aspects of both the interior décor and the charming gardens, while drawing strength and energy from the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding habitat.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Renata,

Our third time at Pocomoonshine, what a special place. Our hectic ‘life’ goes away as we are secluded and cozy here. We spent most of Sunday on snowshoes enjoying the winter wonderland. We found Cub Mnt. Trail on the other wise of the lake. The views are spectacular in this area.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful camp.

Better than we hoped for

  • 5 of 5

Pocomoonshine was inviting from the moment we entered...clean, charming and organized. Friendly little touches were everywhere and made us feel both at home and also far, far away. We'll be back! Kathy

A sweet and lovely cottage

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I recently stayed at this peaceful and lovely cottage early in August where it never got too hot, because there was always a breeze, even on hot days.. The sun peaked through the trees onto the house in a beautiful way. The cottage was great to be in even when it rained as you could hear it falling gently around you and on the roof, which was very relaxing. The decor in the house was well done in a charming country style. The living room was quite comfortable and the bedrooms were warm and cozy, with comfortable beds. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking which we did for several dinners and the outside porch was really nice to sit in. The jacuzzi was great and we used it a lot. The location, though at Auger lake, was not far from Lake Champlain and the Ferries to Burlington. Auger lake was beautiful to row on which we did a lot and it was nice to just sit on the dock and look out at the birds and mountains. Very rejuvenating to be surrounded by nature. We went into the town of Peru several times for Breakfast and went into Burlington and Essex too. The owner was very nice and responded quickly when we called her with questions or issues. A lovely vacation!

Perfect Quiet Escape!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently stayed for a week and we can't say enough good things about this property. Everything is exactly as you see in the pictures, the entire place was clean and inviting, and there was plenty of equipment to use both (in the kitchen and on the lake). Even with neighbors in almost every house on the lane it was extremely quiet and private - we felt like we were the only ones around! If you love the outdoors, there is plenty to do both on the lake and within an easy driving distance. If I had one "complaint" it would be that the property is so well shaded and quiet it is easy to oversleep! (But if you're on vacation, who cares?). From the beginning, Renata was very responsive to my questions and a delight to work with. I would definitely rent from her again! If you are looking for a charming mountain camp, then this is the property for you.

Amazing Little Cabin in the Woods!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a long weekend in June at this little house. It was completely stocked with anything that you would need, all you need to bring is your food. The Lake is a quick walk across the street where there is a dock and plenty of items that you would need to take into the lake. The fishing was great, the country style kitchen was amazing. Renata was incredibly responsive and provided awesome feedback and was so helpful with the booking process. We will def. be going back soon! Thanks for the amazing stay! To anybody staying in the area the Ausable Chasm is literally 10 minutes from this house and is a MUST SEE!

Augur Lake is sequestered betwixt two miracles of nature,

Poke-O-Moonshine Mountain, with 1100 Million year-old walls, resembling a Gothic Cathedral and Ausable Chasm, with its intense energy from the whitewater coursing rapidly through the deep gorge.

We are in the heart of the Bread Basket of the Adirondacks, where valley farms offer organic eggs, dairy and produce biodynamically grown. There are apple orchards too!

High Peaks form the backdrop for these vistas, inviting hikes and explorations of Swimming Holes, Many Falls, High Falls Gorge, Natural Springs, Caves, Lakes and Rivers.

On Lake Champlain, only a few miles away, there is a private beach and boat launch for our community, as well as a ferry to Burlington, Vermont.

Thirty minutes to Whiteface Mountain.

Forty minutes to the Olympic Village of Lake Placid.

Ninety Minutes to Montreal, the second largest French City (after Paris) in the World-with all its sophistication, arts and culinary delights.

Other Activities: Canoeing, Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Horseback Riding, Wildlife Viewing, Cross Country Skiing, Ice Skating, Snowmobiling, Museums,
