Our family rented Steve and Elle's home to stay in to attend a wedding in the Girdwood area and we all loved staying in their lovely home! It was furnished and decorated beautifully, had very comfortable mattresses in each bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen and every amenity we could imagine wanting.
Such a beautiful home. Well appointed and comfortable. The master suite is huge! We had serious house envy after staying here. Thank you for being accommodating to our changing schedule!
It was a gorgeous, clean house. We loved having so much space. The house looked very cozy and we really enjoyed staying here in such a lovely area, surrounded by nature.
We especially liked the fun boardgames available and the good WiFi and would love to come back some time again!
I agree with the former review that the pictures do not do this house justice :) The front window wall facing the mountain is breathtaking and the photos in the dining area don't fully show that the dining table is surrounded by window walls also showing spectacular views of the trees & glaciers beyond! The home was comfortable, easy to use WiFi, comfortable beds and plenty of room for everyone! The area was quiet & serene perfect for evening walks & breathing in the fresh, clean air! Girdwood is a small, ski town with friendly locals & delicious eateries! The home was well stocked with essentials such as paper goods, spices & towels, etc... Our party was a total of 6 celebrating my husband's birthday with his siblings & spouses. Girdwood was about 45 minutes out of Anchorage and we had beautiful, scenic drives to Wasilla & Seward from here that may have taken a while but the drive was gorgeous so it only added to the time enjoying wildlife. I highly recommend going up the tram as the views are spectacular, you can take a short hike to a glacier & the Bore Tide Deli had delicious food! The Winner Creek Trail was a MUST as you go through beautiful forest with wild blueberry bushes lining the path and a mile in is the Hand Tram in which you go over a 100' gorge with the Glacier Creek below...definitely one of the highlights of the trip for me! The bakery in town was scrumptious & the flowers on display are divine! The flowers in Alaska are to die for! We also took a trip to the Conservation Center only 15 minutes away to get up & close with Alaska wildlife and were not disappointed! You can watch the brown bears eat their meals, smell the lovely musk oxen, and get so close to the buffalo that you can feel their breath on your skin! Such a wonderful experience! We even got to experience the Bore Tide coming in the inlet with surfers getting ready for the swells! I also recommend going to Bird Creek to watch the diligent fisherman waiting for their catch of salmon! Could not recommend this home more....just wonderful and beautiful! Thank you Zernia family!
The property was beautiful with gorgeous mountain views out the windows. Spacious and well equipped. All the beds were comfortable. The location was optimal for all of our activities in Girdwood and the surrounding area with many of the places in walkable distance. The owners were very responsive to a fuse issue that we had, having it checked out and fixed quickly. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a home in stay in Girdwood and would return there ourselves if we were back in the area. We visited other homes in the area as we had a lot of friends and relatives also in town renting and they did not have as nice a view.
The photos truly do not do this home justice! The home is beautifully decorated, furnished and well-maintained. Waking up each morning to floor to ceiling windows overlooking the mountains is incredible. We could actually see three glaciers from the kitchen window and the entire Mt. Alyeska was right in front of the living room windows. The home is beautiful with many extra touches like granite countertops, gas BBQ and a large whirlpool tub in the master suite. The kitchen is well-stocked with many spices and basic pantry items and there are tons of cooking utensils, pans, bakeware and appliances. The town is a ski resort so there are many things to do! Our favorites included hiking up the 2 1/2 mile North Face trail which went up the side of Mt. Alyeska and then riding the gondola down (for free!), panning for gold at Crow Creek Mines and hiking the Winners Trail with the handtram over the gorge! The Wildlife Conservation Center and the Byron/Portage Glaciers are also within 30 minutes and are worth the trip. Girdwood is ideally situated between Anchorage and Seward so is a prime location for day trips to either large city. The Cook Inlet which is right outside of town is breathtaking and we actually saw the bore tide come in one day which was very cool! It is a prime location to see wildlife and we saw moose, mountain goats and many eagles.
The owners were absolutely incredible to work with and readily available to answer questions or offer suggestions about the area. They went above and beyond in making our stay perfect and blew us away when they even had someone deliver us a crockpot when there was a miscommunication about one being there! I can't say enough how awesome the home, location and owners were! We had a trip of a lifetime and they definitely helped make that happen!
