This house met and exceeded all of our needs and expectations. The house was very clean, the kitchen well appointed, the bedrooms were spacious as were the bathrooms. The owners answered all of our inquiries promptly. We will definitely recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a home away from home in Girdwood, AK
Having traveled from CT with our family (including two boys ages 9 and 7) for a wedding in Girdwood, I was feeling a bit stressed from the trip...and it instantly disappeared when I walked into the living room. The beautiful view of the mountains surrounding this home was just so soothing.
The house was immaculate and as our boys scurried to pick "their rooms" I looked around in the kitchen to see what I may need to buy to make cooking feasible and was so thrilled to find I needed to get...nothing. The house is fully equipped with every utensil, dish, glass, plate, tupperware, etc you would need (and a dishwasher too, ;) ). We had already gotten groceries in Anchorage based on the owners recommendation (thanks!) and we were all set.
My older son Jack plays hockey so he was THRILLED to claim what he called "the hockey room" on the main floor, his brother wanted a room on the first floor with it's own full bath, my husband and I were happy with the master upstairs and my mother in-law found the other bedroom on the main floor to her liking :). We all had our own space (and there was another bedroom we didn't even use) yet enjoyed gathering together in the main family room with the breathtaking views. There were several kid-friendly games in the closet of the "hockey room" that our boys loved to play on the living room floor when we weren't out and about in Girdwood. The adults loved the wrap around deck and stellar views from every window; I didn't even mind my stubburn East Coast body clock waking me at 2 in the morning because it meant I could sit in the quiet and read on the couch.
We were there during what we were told was "unseasonably warm" weather but the cross breeze from open windows in the back of the house and a circulating fan kept the house at a delightful temperature. I really can't say enough how beautiful, clean, and well prepared the house was. When it came time to leave and head to Homer, we were sad not just to leave the serenity of Girdwood, but this spectacular house too! This is a must rent if you are looking in the Girdwood area!
our group rented this lovely home plus another on nearby Tanner Ct, and it was a perfect combo for our son's Girdwood wedding. The house is comfortable and well equipped with plenty of everything you'd want and need. A cell phone was left behind at checkout and we got an immediate concerned call from Steve, the owner, hoping we hadn't gotten too far to retrieve or make other arrangements. The lovely master, master bath and dressing area made beautiful backdrops for the bridal party's "getting ready" photos. Our group loved this house and highly recommend to others -- it won't disappoint.
My family decided to visit Alaska as my son is stationed at Ft. Wainwright. After spending time in Fairbanks and Denali, we spent three nights in Girdwood. My son has skied Alyeska and thought the area was beautiful. He sure is right, BEAUTIFUL spot (but then Alaska is FULL of beautiful spots). This house was perfect for us. The bedrooms were super comfortable, the bathrooms large and easily accommodated the 8 of us. The kitchen is also large and made cooking for the group easy. The views from the house, awesome. The only very small complaint I have is that I was told I would not need to get coffee and that was the one thing the house was out of when we got there. I think the folks before us REALLY liked coffee and did not indicate to the owners that they used it all up. No big deal, there are a couple of nice little stores close by and we were able to have coffee in the morning. A summer visit was gorgeous and comfortable but it is easy to see how skiers would LOVE this place in the winter.
We also were here for a wedding at Crow Creek Mine. The home has excellent views and is centrally located. The home was clean and well stocked with little extra's like spices and tea, and staples that it seemed others had left for the next guests; a little of this and that. We had been five days in Seward prior and had stocked up on some condiments, which are always packaged as more than you will use in a week. It felt fine to leave behind our heavy tin foil for the BBQ and a few things that added to the mix for the next folks.
We were eight adults, and neither the home nor the dining table was ever crowded. We hope to return some winter after hiking the bowl at the top of the tram. This would be the home to come to.
We had family from out of state for our son's wedding and it was a fantastic house that made it very comfortable. The five bedrooms allowed for family to be together but also allowed for privacy. The owners were extremely easy to work with, readily available via phone and made it a very enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend it.
