The area is brilliant for walkers with the coastal path nearby and walks around Rame Head and Penlee as well as into Mount Edgcumbe Park and from Cremyll to Millbrook and back. There are also good options for sailing, windsurfing, swimming, fishing, birdwatching and photography or simply lazing on the beach and/or rock-pooling. The area is sometimes referred to as “Cornwall’s forgotten corner” and is steeped in history with many forts along the peninsula. We have included in our information booklet details of a number of local walks.

About Bryn Vaile

My wife grew up in nearby Torpoint and spent many summers on the beaches in and around Cawsand, Rame and Whitsand Bay. We brought up our two young children at the cottage and loved the tranquility of the location throughout the year. It was great to finish work and walk down at the beach within 10 minutes. In 1998 we extended and modernised the cottage, while wishing to retain its simple charm.

Bryn Vaile purchased this cottage in 1991

Why Bryn Vaile chose Cornwall

For us it has always been a place to relax, chill out and unwind. You can do as much or little as you wish. It can be a great touring centre or a place to enjoy the many local activities and walks. The cottage is simply furnished and has all you need for a relaxed holiday. For 2017 we have installed a dishwasher and a new television.

There are many activities nearby for both dry and wet weather, this information is in a folder at the cottage.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is well placed with lovely views across the valley and of Plymouth Sound, from which you can see the deer and wildlife, as well as buzzards flying above.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We just wanted to send a quick email to say what a lovely holiday we had,

staying at Rose Cottage. The Rame Peninsula is indeed a lovely part of the

world, and Rose Cottage was a great base: we found it a comfortable and

relaxing place to stay.

Good value cottage in good location

  • 4 of 5

We had a great holiday at Rose Cottage. It is in a great location 10 minutes walk from Cawsand where you can get the passenger ferry to Plymouth in the Summer. The house centres around the large comfy lounge. The kitchen / diner is large but the cooker and microwave but are rather dated but still able to cope with the three of us.

Access to the cottage is down a narrow lane with off road parking for two cars comfortably, however if you have a large car then turning space is rather tight to be able to come out forwards

Overall a very good value cottage with everything you need to have a great holiday

Wonderful location. Lovely garden. Easy walk to Cawsand/Kingsand

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in Rose Cottage. It's a wonderful location with a view of the valley and easy walk to the villages Cawsand and Kingsand. Great beaches nearby which are quiet during the week (out of holiday season). Fantastic to have the garden. We appreciated the resident bat popping out in the evening from its nook in the cottage. Perhaps not a cottage for people attached to their mod cons and technology, but a great get away location.

Beautiful setting, value for money

  • 4 of 5

Really beautiful setting with views of the valley and sea in the distance. Blissful to be able to sit in the garden watching deer, buzzards and butterflies. Cottage is basic but has everything you need. 10/15 minute walk to the beaches at Cawsand & Kingsand. Would recommend Cross Keys for meals out! Clear, turquoise sea and surprisingly quiet for Summer holidays. Perfect if you've got kids.

Fantastic family holiday location

  • 5 of 5

Just spent a great 2 weeks here. Gorgeous garden, photos don't do it justice. Lovely short walk through fields to pretty cawsand with its rock pools, pasties, ice cream and pubs. Ferry to Plymouth for city life and fishing trips (cheaper in looe we discovered ) C awsand rubbish for crabbing though but we had great luck in looe after a day at Eden project.

Whitsands bay to die for and well worth the climb.

House itself basic but clean and comfortable and has everything you could need. Great value
