Several years ago, my husband, Ken, and I spent a couple long weekend vacations in the Albrightsville area of the Poconos. At that time, we were vacation home renters ourselves and had a great time with the variety of things to do in the area, even on a budget! There are parks, beaches, hiking, rafting, boating, skiiing, great roads for motorcycle riding (if you are into that sort of thing) and so much more! A short while after this, we decided to purchase Twin Oaks to enjoy ourselves with friends and family, as well as, share with others. We visit the house regularly and spend much of our time there ensuring it is well maintained. We both work full time (I'm in Human Resources and Ken is in Construction) and live in Pennsylvania with our three cats: Cinnamon, Nutmeg and Rudie.
My family and I just left the cabin and we are already planning on coming back back soon! What can I say? The house was spotless clean, warm, and spacious. The 12 of us slept comfortably every night. That's right. 12 of us. If you're looking for a great place to stay with your family, I highly recommend this place. 5 stars. 5
It was a amaizing time with my kids and grand kids, my grand kids wants to stay there for more time. They went snow tubbing, snowboarding and had the time of their life! They want me to buy that house!
Thank you Natalie! You were awesome from beginning to end! It was like you promised me!
A very clean rental home well-maintained with 4 large bedrooms, large kitchen, living room with a very large surrounding deck. Sits on an acre with many trees providing lots of shade, very pretty colors in the fall and a quiet surrounding year-round.
Convenient for water sports etc. and taking your skis out in the winter. Very nice resturants nearby, casino for fun and games with a dollar store in walking distance.
If you like a quiet place to relax and still have easy access to resturants and fun times, this rental is for you.
My cousins and I were looking for a place to unwind and hang out for a summer weekend in July, and the biggest draw to this house was the price (it was very reasonable for everyone’s budget) and fun perks like a pool table, a grill, the lake and other community amenities. Natalie was a pleasure to deal with and she was very reliable over email. I had no issues booking the rental, paying, and having some general questions answered.
My family arrived to find large patches of mildew growing on the outside of the house, and after entering we found cobwebs looming throughout every room. Not a good start. Most notably, the worst part of this rental (and our entire vacation) was the dank smell inside. Because the windows and doors are kept locked and closed when the house is unoccupied, the air was thick and stale and rotten. We tried opening windows to air the place out, but the air just wouldn’t circulate and small holes in the window screens would invite moths and other insects. The bedding that was already in place looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time and it also had absorbed the funky smell (luckily we brought our own bedding).
There were also several disadvantages that could have been better tackled if we had known more details beforehand. For example, we knew there was no air conditioning, but the availability of only one floor fan (in the living room) and only one ceiling fan (in the kitchen) with the complete lack of ventilation and was very surprising. Also, we knew basic products were not provided (linens, hand soap, paper products, etc) so we brought what was listed in the information packet and anything else we could think of, but I wish we had known to bring some sort of water filtration (luckily we had brought water bottles with us).
I can fully attest that my family is a group of experienced and prepared travelers, but even with everything we could have done, nothing prepared us for the smell that permeated everything from our clothes to our hair to our luggage. We had booked for 3 nights but left after 2 nights because we just couldn’t stand the smell and were worried about the quality of the air and water. The house was neither messy nor disorderly, but it was definitely not well-maintained and it just seems like no one lives there or cares for it regularly. The Twin Oaks Chalet is not an alpine vacation home; It is a musty old house in the woods.
I would highly recommend staying at Twin Oaks Chalet. I stayed at the house a couple of years ago and had a great time. The house was cozy, clean and well maintained. Being an outdoor/nature lover, I found that the location of the house was in close proximity to a lot of fun outdoor activities. I would definitely stay again!
Our stay at this cozy and quaint vacation home was very enjoyable.
It was well maintained, clean and very convenient to many popular attractions.
We loved visiting the Historic town of JIm Thorpe, Bushkill Falls, the Casino, the Outlets, Beltzville Park and especially loved those relaxing days just laying on the beach.
I would definitely recommend this comfy vacation home and plan to book another vacation there.
