The Gold Mine Lodge is just 4 and a half miles from Hill City. Minutes from Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, Custer State Park, Bear Country, Wineries and most attractions of the Black Hills. This is a 5 bedroom 3 bathroom house. There is a queen bed in each of the 5 bedrooms. One bedroom also has a 1 person roll away bed in it. There is also an extra futon provided. There is a TV in the living room and a TV in 2 of the bedrooms. The kitchen is fully furnished with all equipment for cooking and cleaning up afterwards. The is a well supplied house with linens and all the things required for your stay. There is a deck with gas grill, picnic table and extra lawn chairs. This house features an all stone exterior, fireplace & various other stone work inside. You will be pleasantly surprised with the tastefully decorated nature theme of the house that the guys will appreciate and plenty of feminine touches to please the ladies. From the wrap around deck you can enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or an evening meal while watching the beauty of your surroundings outside. The kid in all of us will like the mysterious faces looking down on you from the hill above the back deck. Now don't misunderstand, I am not referring to Mt. Rushmore. Just a few steps up from the deck there is even an actual old Gold Mine dug into the rock hill.

We also have the Gold Stone Lodge which is very well decorated on the nature theme as well with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, family room, dining room, 2 full kitchens, laundry room, patio, deck and gas grill. This house sleeps up to 12 people also

And if you are just looking for a beautiful room with a private bathroom and entrance we have that also. All located in a wooded country area.

About Linda

We moved to the Black Hills over 29 years ago and have loved it ever since. With my husband's background in carpentry and masonry and mine in the hospitality business with starting out with a B & B we decided the vacation rental home business was a natural for us. I love to decorate and with my husband's artistic ability we tend to work well with each other in creating a very pleasant and pretty home for the vacationing travelers.

Linda purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Linda chose Black Hills

We like the fact that this house is close to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer State Park and other attractions of the Black Hills. It is easy to find and has plenty of room for an extended family or friends.

What makes this cabin unique

It is close to the Mickelson Trail for hiking and bicycling so you can get a little exercise while on vacation if you so choose. Also it is close to the ATV and and snowmobile trails. It also has a nice view from the good size windows. The stone work is fantastic and there are a lot of nice touches that we added also.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Oh my God. What a wonderful house. The stay here was perfect. We had everything we needed to cook, sleep, bathe, etc. The house is beautiful and the area is wonderful.

Great place for a group of "Senior" friends to use as "home" while visiting Black Hills for 9 days. Well stocked house (kitchen, bath towels, laundry). Very clean and everything in working order. Owner was very nice and easy to communicate with. Great location for everything in the Hills. Only drawback (for some) is no wifi. Actually is was good to be "unhooked" for 9 days.

Warm and Welcoming

  • 5 of 5

It was certainly a pleasure meeting the owner, her hospitality was exemplary!

Gold Mine Lodge is a warm inviting place that has all the comforts of home plus a wonder view. Close to most of the attractions in the Blackhills it offers everything a large family would need to have an enjoyable time. The lodge is a beautiful place, I would definitely bring my family back for another stay. Our group of 8 adults and 5 children were very comfortable with the accommodations and the layout of the lodge.

While it rained most days during our 9 day stay we were able to enjoy many activities during our stay regardless of the weather. Fishing in Horse Thief Lake was filled with multiple keeper trout up to 17". Hill City also has some great restaurants, such as the Alpine Inn and Desperadoes. Wineries and Breweries are nearby and a great place to pass the time during rain.

All in all everyone in the family enjoyed our stay and have nothing negative to say about our stay.

Thank you again to the owners for sharing your property with our family! God Bless!

Everything we needed or wanted

  • 5 of 5

This lodge was absolutely perfect. It's even better than the photographs in the listing. The house was spotless, the kitchen very well-equipped and the surrounding scenery was beautiful --- no matter what window you looked out of.

We were traveling on motorcycles so the laundry room was well used while we were there.

The layout worked well for our group. Everybody had enough privacy and enough personal space with the bedroom and bathroom locations as they are. If you needed a little solitude, it was available. Likewise, the dining room table and the table on the deck were great gathering spaces for breakfast, talking about that day and making plans for the next day.

The owners have done everything possible to make this lodge comfortable and welcoming. And they were available for questions and recommendations on places to eat and beautiful roads to tour.

I can recommend this lodge with no reservations. In fact, our entire group wants to go back next year and stay in the same place AND take more folks with us. AND we are anxious to get there.
