About Lisa Thompson
I was in the Army for 16 years and really did get to "see the world." I've worked too many different jobs to list, from doughnut maker to mail carrier to veterinary technician to intelligence analyst. Now I'm "retired" (translation: busier than ever) and living the dream that started when I fell in love with a camel in Saudi Arabia. I raise alpacas, and my starter herd of five alpacas has grown to a family farm with over 30 animals. My daughter and I host ranch tours, take a petting zoo to local events, set up at Farmer's Market a couple times a month and try to find time to practice our fiber arts skills. Next on our list of adventures is hydroponic gardening. We love to be outside enjoying the animals and the beautiful high desert views.
Lisa Thompson purchased this Guest House in 2009

Great views, quaint ranch, wonderful host!
We really enjoyed our stay at the alpaca ranch. The ranch is nestled along a mountain side which allowed for gorgeous scenery, amazing starry skies and our room offered views of the sunrise from our bed. If you love friendly, furry cuteness, then feeding the alpacas or walking Hunk the llama is going to be a treat! Be sure to love on the working dogs too - they are hardworking and lovable! The hostess, Lisa, is very easy to talk to and has interesting local information to share and is very knowledgeable about the ranch and animals she works with. We loved chatting with her. Be sure to check out her on-site store for alpaca-based products.
It was so Awesome to host you two. Thank you so much for the inspiration about llama walks and more! Please come visit again anytime :-)
Very beautiful place
The views are absolutely inspiring... Something you just have to see.... Not enough time to see and do it all and next time we will make more time
The place is great. Small but well thought out. I love to cook and found I had just enough room. The induction burner worked quite well with my cast iron dutch oven (lintel stew). The views from the property are lovely and it's location is perfect for day trips. Literally like 5minutes to entrance of Coronado monument. Bisbee is only a 30 minute drive. Ramsey canyon super close. If coming from Tucson u drive right by Kartchner caverns... You get the idea.
You can also help out on the farm.
Lisa (owner) was very helpful and responded quickly with any questions that I had.
The alpacas are super cute and friendly.
Thank you for everything Kirk! I’m glad you enjoyed your little getaway and I hope to host you again. You were the perfect guest!
For Hikers and Bikers, my place is less than five miles to Coronado National Monument, Montezuma Pass and the southern terminus of the Arizona Trail.
For Birders, it is within minutes of Ramsey Canyon Preserve, the San Pedro Riparian Area, San Pedro House and many other Sky Island birdwatching spots.
Other attractions within and hour drive are Old Bisbee, Tombstone, Kartchner Caverns, Arizona Wine Country (Elgin, Sonoita, Willcox), Fort Huachuca (3 Museums), Parker Canyon Lake and Patagonia Lake.
You could stay here for a month and never to the same dayrtrip twice unless you wanted to.
