What you see in the pics doesn't even begin to match the actual experience of being here. It's not only the idyllic Vermont setting on the river but a summer delight for all of the senses. Bob has gone out of his way to insure you have everything you need and more for a wonderfully pleasant stay is his clean and comfortable house. The property is close to everything in and around the nearby towns but amazingly private and secluded at the same time. Our dogs loved the large yard and took full advantage of the property. As did we with the horse shoes and canoes that Bob provided as one of his many amenities, including indoor board and video games(wii and PlayStation) We can't say enough about what a lovely stay we had. Our entire family thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent at Black River Meadows. Great for families. Highly recommended.

Idyllic, pure Vermont vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This review is long overdue and hopefully the owners will forgive me! I rented this house last September and invited a bunch of friends to visit from NY and MA. We really couldnt have asked for a more lovely home -- or more lovely owners. The Janowskis have truly thought of everything when it comes to anticipating the needs of their guests, and they are also very generous! This beautifully maintained farmhouse came stocked with everything a guest might possibly want or need -- a fully equipped kitchen, flashlights, first aid supplies, extra blankets, a library with lots of local folklore, numerous guidebooks/brochures about the region, games, DVDs, and culinary goodies ....just to name a few. And unlike other places I had rented through Homeaway, the owners were extremely respectful of our privacy, and we actually only met Bob once -- when he came to mow the lawn after we had been there a week. (He was just as pleasant and helpful in person as in all our phone/email contacts.) Of course the house and the property are pure Vermont -- very, very private yet close enough to shopping, medical care, and sightseeing spots. All in all a very idyllic vacation...we wouldnt have changed a thing!

Perfect Family Vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about our stay at Black River Meadows was wonderful. Our host, Bob, went above and beyond to ensure that the house was fully equipped with every possible item for a family to enjoy their stay. The house was just perfect for us, the property was breathtaking, beautiful and restful. We felt as if we were staying at a very favorite relatives house and they wanted us to have the best of times. The property location is so ideally located, close to the highways for easy trips throughout the state. You can see Okemo mountain from the house!! We fished, Canoed, made S'mores, watched fireflies at night - just perfect.

I recommend this property to anyone who wants experience a true Vermont vacation. You will not be disappointed.

This home couldn't have been better! It was warm, cozy and comfortable. The weather that week was rain, rain and more rain, but kicking back on the front porch watching the wildlife on the water and listening to raindrops on the tin roof was very relaxing. The ktichen was well equipped, the home was very clean, and the beds were comfortable. On nights when the sky cleared, the wall of granite made a beautiful spot for the campfire. The home had a perfect location close to the great dining options in Ludlow. The owner thought of everything including Green Mountain Coffee, plenty of firewood and great cotton sheets! The train passing twice a day was a unique touch. We loved the area and we can't say enough about Bob, the owner! An awesome experience we hope to do again someday!

An Excellent Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

My son & 2 friends stayed here in the fall of 2009. It was everything we hoped for & more. It was clean, well-maintained, roomy, charming & very cozy, it felt like home & I could imagine living here full time. The property was conveniently located close to the main north & south freeway, beautiful Mt. Ascutney, Chester & Ludlow & other lovely towns. We enjoyed hiking, shopping, sightseeing, antiquing, eating out & cooking in the well-appointed & roomy kitchen in the house. The house was very comfortable, the furnace provided excellent heat & the water pressure was excellent.

I would definitely recommend this delightful house to friends & relatives.

WOW ....... Thanks Bob !

What a fantastic time we had in this house! The area is calm and serene, the wildlife abundant, the view superb and the privacy, top notch. The dog just adored the place and was quite reluctant to leave (as were we).

The owner, Bob has taken the time to provide the renter with all that is needed for a great stay, including plenty of Green Mountain coffee and a fully stocked kitchen and baths. The place was impecibly clean and neat.

The close proximity to Okemo, 91 and Scenic 131 makes this place a great central location for seeing most of Vermont and western New Hampshire.

If you are considering southern VT for your vacation, contact Bob and arrange a stay at this property, you'll be glad you did.
