About Arne Abrahamsen
I am living in Norway, 64 years old and working as a communications adviser. My wife is from California, so we also spend a lot of time in the US. I first visited Patmos in 1972 when I spent a whole year living there. Since then Patmos has been a second home both for the two of us and for our children and grandchildren. My dream is to little by little develop our property on Patmos as an integrated part of the village, with more houses, a central square, a vineyard trees and flowers. We will use the houses ourselves, but also want to share this oasis of beauty and tranquility with others.
Arne Abrahamsen purchased this House in 2008
Why Arne Abrahamsen chose South Aegean
Having spent more than 40 years visiting Patmos, my wife and I, 10 years ago finally decided that this is where we want to spend our retirement. We purchased what we think is one of the most spectacular properties on the island and are gradually building and rebuilding houses to use ourselves, for our friends and to rent. We are passionate about the island, and want to do our utmost to preserve and develop its traditional values and natural beauty.
What makes this House unique
The house is located at the top of a hill overlooking the port of Skala and offers you majestic views of the ocean, the village and the traditional monastery of St. John. The house is only 300 meters from the beach and about 6 minutes from the town Centre, but you are surrounded by 3000 square meters of traditional farmland with 100 year old pines and olive trees, making your stay quiet and rejuvenating.

Beautiful Patmos house
Patmos is one of our favorite island in Greece and being in this house added to the pleasure of our stay. The view is stunning, the location perfect, just above Skala village but perfectly quiet. The decor pretty and simple in the Greek tones and the beds confortable! Being able to take advantage of the garden, eating the ripe figs and grapes was a added treat
We will be back!
This place was even better than the pictures! The way the place has been decorated to look like an old house but with all of the modern touches, like great atmospheric lighting inside and out, fridge and dishwasher hiding behind rustic cupboards, fully equiped kitchen, modern bathroom, beautiful terrace to sit on to enjoy the view over the sea and enjoy breakfast, or an evening glass of wine or ouzo. We loved this place and didn't want to leave. God willing we will definately return to this place in the future. Also, Arne and his wife were so helpful with making arrangements ahead of time, and Antonia who met us at the ferry was also great. It is easy to get around the island and explore the holy places, as well as the beaches. A car is necessary, but Arne makes this a simple thing to arrange. We are seasoned travellers, and the five of us would not hesitate to recommend staying here. It fits six easily, and it would also be a good place to rent the smaller house below as well, if you needed a place for more people. There is also a washing machine to use, and line to dry the clothes on. While Patmos is not the easiest island to get to, it is totally worth it. This is truly a gem!
Amazing views , not far from the town Scala but in a quiet area .
Loved, loved, loved this property . . .
The Traditional Stone House was such a pleasure to stay at. So clean, modern and the view was spectacular!!! Just wished we would have been able to stay longer. Don't miss this one!
A beautiful house on a beautiful island
The house is quite lovely, as the pictures show: simple in structure, beautifully furnished with all the amenities of a place to really live: an elegant and comfortable home, not just a base. It sits high against the saddle of the hill above the quieter part of the main harbour. The wide terrace has wonderful views and catches the breeze even at the hottest time of the year; it would be lovely to go again in cooler weather and enjoy the wood burning stove. We swam, explored the island, climbed up and down the steps into town, but also cooked and read and talked. A wonderful place.
