About Richard Britton
Paula and I live in Cyprus and have been visiting and living in Little Reef over the last 35 years with our family. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Richard Britton purchased this Apartment in 1981
Why Richard Britton chose Derricks
This is a family property which my late father bought when he was working in Barbados. He spent up to 4 or 5 months living in it every year and he last visited in 2013 when he was in his 99th year. The property has been used by 4 generations of our family and is much loved by all, as is the island of Barbados and its people.
What makes this Apartment unique
Little Reef is thought of with affection by all members of our family, because of its location on a beautiful white sand bay untouched by commercialism, and the many happy vacations spent there. The perfect place for chilling out.

We had a wonderful time, apartment in brilliant location!
This property is all about the views which are stunning and for that we can forgive the traffic noise which is mainly drowned out by the slapping of the waves just below the balcony.
There is a well positioned tree which gives some shade, making the balcony a stunning place to sit to watch the sunset, the boats sailing by ,the cruise boats departing and the birds heading home to roost.
On the shared deck below are two sun beds and direct access to the beach. A five minute walk along the beach takes you to Jordan’s supermarket which is very convenient and a nice way to shop.
The apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed. A nice touch was providing buckets and spades for kids, air bed, cool boxes, mask and snorkel , marker buoy plus various other bits and pieces. We didn’t make use of them but I imagine families would find it really handy.
Outside the apartment is a bus stop which will take you up and down the coast. Holetown is a few minutes on the bus where there are lots of restaurants. We enjoyed eating out at Tides and Zaccios both in Holetown, but our favourite restaurant was La Cabane at Batts Rock beach south of the apartment.
It was a memorable and enjoyable stay and would recommend it to anyone.
Third time to this villa
Such a great area, great swim hole easy to get into and out of right in front of the house. Saw a turtle in front on the day we were leaving. We found Zaccios restaurant in holetown this year, great prices good food. Wish we would have found that one sooner. Also this year we booked at IL Tempio’s for dinner just down the beach, walking distance, it was a great dinner and with also really good prices. Little Reef is a great house with great views you cannot beat !!
This is a simple but perfect property.
The location and view out to sea must be one of the best on the island.
Thank you Jo for the simple, but perfect, review.
Amazing views from this property! We felt very fortunate to have found it for our holiday, as it was perfect. The beach was calm and quiet, which is what we like. They provide everything you need to enjoy your holiday and we cooked all but one meal at the villa. Sunsets from the table were breathtaking. Walking distance to small local grocery store and then only 7-10 minutes north to Holetown with a big grocery store. Payne’s Bay has a great fish market where we would go every other day to purchase our fish for our suppers. We rented a car and explored almost every inch of the island - but a car is not required as there are frequent buses and a stop just a few steps away from the villa. Will definitely be back!!
Fitts Village is predominantly a residential area virtually untouched by commercialism. For golfers there are 5 courses within half an hour's drive, including 3 courses at Sandy Lane and the Royal Westmoreland only 5 minutes away. A short trip along the road to Holetown brings you to the Chattel houses, which contain local arts and crafts for sale - and for non- shoppers you can have a coffee and read the paper. For divers the West Side Scuba Centre is in the same location
The Earthworks Pottery, which is only a 15/20 minute drive way is well worth a visit. Speightstown, with its historic buildings - some dating back to soon after the first settlement of Barbados - is 15/20 minutes beyond Holetown. Bridgetown, which is a short trip by bus or car, also has historic buildings, the beautiful Carenage where boats moor, fish and vegetable markets, good shops, and for cricket lovers the Kensington Oval.
