Recently Modernised 2-bedroom Apartment With Stunning Views of Beach & Sea

Attractive upstairs apartment, in beach-side house with communal patio, leading directly onto one of the quietest and most beautiful beaches on the West Coast, with excellent swimming and snorkelling in the crystal waters of the Caribbean. Comprising 2 air-conditioned bedrooms, one with en-suite bathroom, the other with en-suite shower room and washing machine. There is a well-equipped modern kitchen for the chefs among your party. The lovely light sitting room, with stunning views of the Caribbean and the beach, has a cooling breeze blowing through it for most of the year. In essence perfection.

The village shopping centre and supermarket are within easy reach on foot. There are several excellent restaurants nearby, including the world-renowned Cliff. We are 1.5 km away from Sandy Lane and its world-class golf facilities. Waters sports, fishing, and glass-bottomed boats are virtually on the doorstep - and, if requested, many will pick you up from the beach.. For those who don’t wish to hire a car the bus stop is nearby, and the buses run frequently up until 11.30 pm. The apartment has Wifi internet access and on site security.

Little Reef is well situated for multiple activities. From the very beautiful beach, a few short steps away, there is snorkelling on the reef, where you may spot one of the resident turtles, meandering among shoals of brightly coloured fish. Boating and water sport activities are also on offer from operators on the way to the big resorts past Sandy Lane. Fishermen bring their daily catch into Fitts Village, just in front of Jordan's Supermarket, a five-minute walk along the beach.

For those who don’t want to miss the exploits of their favourite team, Wendy’s sports bar is just a couple of minutes away, across the road. Wendy's also have a snack bar. Alternatively there’s the Surfside bar in Holetown (15 minutes away by bus and car), a great spot for being on the beach and watching the footie at the same time. Holetown is also the place to go to if you want a bank, pizza or the larger Massy’s supermarket, which will deliver your shopping if you don't have a car. Holetown also boasts plenty of watering holes and restaurants. Bridgetown and the South Coast are around twenty minutes by car and the buses run regularly.

If you just want to chill out Little Reef’s balcony is a great place for watching the frigate birds wheeling above, maybe a fisherman making a catch, and world go by – and, if you are up early and very, very, lucky you may get a glimpse of a monkey in the nearby shack-shack tree. If you want take a tan back home Little Reef has a lovely sunny patio, or you can take the extra few steps to the beach. At the end of the day there is often nothing better than a walk along the beach or just watching a beautiful sunset and the boats making for home, while you enjoy a sundowner.

Why Richard Britton chose St. James

This is a family property which my late father bought when he was working in Barbados. He spent up to 4 or 5 months living in it every year and he last visited in 2013 when he was in his 99th year. The property has been used by 4 generations of our family and is much loved by all, as is the island of Barbados and its people.

What makes this apartment unique

Little Reef is thought of with affection by all members of our family, because of its location on a beautiful white sand bay untouched by commercialism, and the many happy vacations spent there. The perfect place for chilling out.

Great Property Made a Great Trip

First and foremost, Richard checked in just about everyday to make sure that things were going well. We received a tropical storm our second night and Shirley called to check in on us the next morning and to let us know that the island would basically be shutdown that day. Grantley was very nice and explained how everything worked. They are all a great group of people that keep this property running.

As far as the house, you can't beat the view this property has looking out over the water!!!! Truly breath taking. I would recommend this place 100 times over. If you enjoy snorkeling, there are millions of fish right out the back door.

It's pretty central to other locations. Bridgetown to the south is only about 5-10 min depending on traffic and Holetown to the north is about the same! Hometown has some neat little shops in a village and much better food choices.

Beautiful Apartment!

Wow - a stunning apartment - made to feel very welcome by Richard and we really liked the little touches that you don't find in all self catering properties. There was a buoy for snorkelling and lilos and a large sun shade which we found essential on the patio. The washing machine was a great addition - you won't find these in all rentals in Barbados. Lovely not to have a TV (he he!) but excellent wifi that stretches to the patio so the children were happy for down-time. 2 excellent bathrooms and really big bedrooms with plenty of storage and dozens of hangers! I know that everyone mentions it but the view from the lounge is simpler breath-taking. I really miss it!

Can't get any closer to the beach!

The host was very communicative and answered all my questions in a timely manner. The apartment was simple but comfortable and the view....to die for! I am a light sleeper and the noise from the road woke me up every morning but as soon as I opened the curtains and saw, heard and smelled the beautiful Caribbean Sea it was well worth it! A basically private beach is literally at your doorstop, you won't want to leave Little Reef, trust me!

Perfect spot by the beach

Very well equipped apartment, perfect for a couple or small family. We found everything we needed from the apartment, small supermarket was within a walking distance. The view is beautiful, so we stayed many evenings at the apartment and watched the sun go down.

There's a busy road just in front of the house, so if you're a light sleeper this might bother you. On the other hand bus stops are only a few meters away, so you can easily take a bus to Bridgetown or to north of the island.

Great location to visit the island

Spent 9 nights in Richards apartment and the views are breathtaking. Grantley who looks after the apartment and lives next door is always on hand if we needed him. [What a lovely guy he is]

Everything you needed for a self catering holiday is in this apartment. Your only 5 mins from Holetown by bus. Many thanks Richard for letting us rent your apartment.

Fitts Village is predominantly a residential area virtually untouched by commercialism. For golfers there are 5 courses within half an hour's drive, including 3 courses at Sandy Lane and the Royal Westmoreland only 5 minutes away. A short trip along the road to Holetown brings you to the Chattel houses, which contain local arts and crafts for sale - and for non- shoppers you can have a coffee and read the paper. For divers the West Side Scuba Centre is in the same location

The Earthworks Pottery, which is only a 15/20 minute drive way is well worth a visit. Speightstown, with its historic buildings - some dating back to soon after the first settlement of Barbados - is 15/20 minutes beyond Holetown. Bridgetown, which is a short trip by bus or car, also has historic buildings, the beautiful Carenage where boats moor, fish and vegetable markets, good shops, and for cricket lovers the Kensington Oval.
