This townhouse is well furnished, comfortable and will make anyone feel right at home in the North Carolina mountains. The sound of the New River can be heard and the view of the mountains and Christmas Tree farms are a delight. 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, sleeps 9. Cable, internet, dish washer, washer, dryer. Jefferson Landing Golf Club is five minutes away. Ski resorts are forty-five minutes away.
We met three of my husband's college buddies for our 26th reunion as a group. We meet to go to an ASU football game and to enjoy each other's company and catch up with each other. Though the townhome was a little far from Boone, we had a wonderful stay. The bedrooms were great for 2 couples and 2 guys. We would have enjoyed more "living room" as the 6 of us spent most of our time at the house due to constant rain the weekend we were there!!! We would have loved some additional TV channels so we could have watched more football (we couldn't go to the ASU game due to hard rain and the fear we could not get back to the house due to ????flooding of roads at night.) The home was well stocked with towels etc; kitchen was very good and well stocked - including a crock pot (I brought mine just in case) etc. Very comfortable beds and furniture. Wish we could have spent time outdoors but the weather was not cooperative. Thanks for letting us stay in your lovely home.
My family I and LOVE spending time at Greta's Getaway!! Its just far enough away from town to feel like you're getting away from the hustle and bustle of every day life and just close enough to pop in to the grocery store if you've forgotten your toothbrush, making it the perfect location for a family getaway!!
The mornings and evenings, on the porch with a cup of coffee looking out over the New River and catching up on family events, are the best part of my stay!! The downstairs game room is the perfect spot for scrapbooking, board games and doing puzzles all while enjoying your favorite crime dramas (if you're in to that kind of thing, of course).
If you like to get out and about West Jefferson has wonderful places to shop and dine and is only a 20-30 minute drive from enjoying Boone or beautiful Blowing Rock.
The photos do not even begin to do Greta's Getaway justice, its a beautiful house in a beautiful town and the perfect place to kick back, relax and enjoy a some time away at Greta's Getaway!
This is a very fun home to stay in and easy to get to. Its low key comfort, nice sleeping beds and cozy fireplace make you feel right at home.
The well equipped kitchen set up to feed a group buffet style eating in or on the deck make it nice for entertaining.
It sleeps 9 people easily and has the three and a half baths giving everyone room and plenty of hot water for showers. The three floor lay out allows those wanting to sleep late in the morning, nap in the afternoons or stay up late at night the space and freedom to do so.
Another unique feature of the home, it is set up nicely for a couple to stay on the main floor level with kitchen, great room, master bedroom and bath along with the deck therefore not having to use the lower or upper level floors.
The home is very clean, well kept, sunny, inviting and peaceful. The deck, side patio and great room are nice gathering places for a group or for one to relax with the mountain view.
The home is located in a very peaceful and safe area where you do not feel others are to close yet it is a short distance to stores and interesting shops for your needs and pleasure. There is plenty of site seeing in the area within a short distance.
Overall the home is a place you will want to return with a group or just a quiet get a way for two.
This is a great place for a getaway! It is such a comfortable, no-fuss home, very well appointed. The beds are comfortable, the bath linens are plush and the kitchen lacks nothing! And the scenery is outstanding! I love the New River - I think it's the oldest in North America, oh the irony - and the beautiful Christmas tree farms that dot the landscape all around. There are great places for hiking nearby, and kayaking down the river. Lots of little antiques and consignment shops. I recommend Boondocks in town for a great lunch. Our group always cooks in at night, so I can't help with dinner recommendations. Blowing Rock and Boone are just a short (30-35 minutes) drive away. Lots of great restaurants and shops there. I highly recommend a stay here! But I've got dibs on it for Merlefest 2014!
