I live in southern Delaware and fell in love with Smith Beach when I discovered it in 2008.
Mark purchased this cottage in 2008
This is one of three of our cottages, we also own properties 138011 and 164040.
We can accomodate family reuniouns up to 14 people using all three of our cottages.
The cottage was just as described and Mark waa great to work with regarding the rental. The cottage was clean, comfortable and very close to the beach area. The deck was great for grilling and the kitchen had all the comforts of home. It's just a very short walk (across the one lane street) to the most amazing sunsets on the Eastern Shore. If you're looking for a quiet getaway, the purple cottage on Smith Beach is the place for you!
My husband, 6 year old and 6 month old daughters spent a week at the purple house. We loved every minute - hanging out on the beach (the water was so warm and clear!), fishing on the dock and exploring the surrounding areas. WE took day trips to the Aquarium in VA Beach and the Zoo in Norfolk but otherwise spent time near the house. Most times we were the only ones on the beach or fishing. WE were driving home already planning for next year!
I initially reserved the Pink Cottage which is much smaller (as I was traveling alone) but Mark upgraded my three-night stay to the purple cabin for a small additional fee. The cabin was awesome - very well maintained and clean. I liked the fact that it has a full size kitchen and laundry. The back deck was nice to sit on in the evenings and I spent most my days lying on the beach - which very few people used. One weekday afternoon, I was completely by myself on the beach.
Mark was a great landlord - he was good about keeping in contact with me and he even offered me an additional free night, but unfortunately I had plans in another state. I would love to rent from him again in the future!
The purple cottage was everything we could have wanted for our stay! The house was very homey, comfortable, and everything we needed. We enjoyed lots of time on our own private little beach with incredible sunsets. A very relaxing get away! Thanks for sharing your cottage with us!
The beach is perfect for young kids. Even when the tide comes in, it's still shallow enough for young children (up to 10 years old) to swim and play. The cottage was comfortable, cozy and just wonderful. The locals are very friendly, and all of your grocery and take out needs are less than 20 minutes away. Chincoteague is only 90 minutes away, and it's a straight line drive. It was very nice to have our own washing machine and dryer, and the deck was very spacious. This is a great property!
The cottage looks exactly as presented here. Very clean and comfortable. It is a VERY rural location, which is what I wanted. I had the bay beach to myself almost every day. The water was surprisingly warm. I also enjoyed two trips to Chincoteague Island, which is about an hour away. It was a very relaxing trip for me.
Golf: If golf is your passion, you will love the new Nicklaus and Palmer courses at Bay Creek, Cape Charles, only 10 miles away.
