Pretty well equipped gite

  • 5 of 5

We were two couples and the layout of the gite suited us perfectly. It is a pretty conversion and was also well equipped. The welcome pack of basic foodstuffs was much appreciated. The private garden is very secluded although, due to the weather, we were not able to make much use of the pool which is well maintained. Jan and Janine were helpful but unobtrusive and they supplied us with logs when the weather meant that evenings at the gite were rather cool and the wood burning stove heats the large rooms up well. A car is necessary as there are no shops, bars or restaurants within walking distance but the area itself has interesting walks if you fancy a stroll. A very enjoyable stay

Beautiful relaxing break

  • 5 of 5

Amazing property, plenty of space & so wonderfully quiet. The area was very pretty, the pool was great & very welcome on the hotter days of our break. Jan & Janine were very helpful & really do keep the house & its grounds in top condition, I can usually find at least one thing to criticise but this place was absolutely perfect for our needs.

Vacances relaxantes

  • 4 of 5

A lovely spacious gite - really thoughtfully well equipped with everything we needed for our holiday

  • 5 of 5

A lovely welcome from Jan and Janice who were there to show us round their light filled spacious gite. A jug of fresh flowers and a welcome pack was provided which was very thoughtful. Loads of storage in all the bedrooms and plenty of space for us all to sit and relax.

The immediate outdoor space is fantastic - from the gazebo in the beautiful garden (where we enjoyed playing board games from the great collection!) to the sun loungers and large parasol providing space to relax in the shade when needed.

The swimming pool and the area surrounding the pool is absolutely amazing - picturesque, calm, relaxing and beautifully thought through. The backdrop of the church is really special - and the fields of sunflowers, vineyards and cornfields just make it perfect.

Great places to visit included Aubeterre sur Dronne and Talmont, and of course the amazing brocantes!

Thank you Jan and Janice!

A little piece of Heaven!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful, relaxing 2 weeks at La Grange; a beautiful, immaculate, well equipped gite with it's wonderful pool, which we made so much use of during the 37 degree heat! The owners Jan and Janine are very friendly and helpful, providing us with fresh veg from their garden, games for the pool and milk when we ran out! But they're not intrusive, just there if you need them.

We visited Aubetterre sur Dronne and Jonzac (both lovely places), went kayaking at Montbron, to the lakes at Montguyon and Jonzac and to Futuroscope (a bit of a drive but we'd been before and wanted to go again!), but were more than happy to be at the gite and in the pool for a lot of the time :) The local supermarkets are about a 10-15 minute drive away and are so much better than Sainsburys or Tesco!

We would highly recommend La Grange for a peaceful, relaxing time away in beautiful surroundings.

An excellent French countryside retreat

  • 5 of 5

Jan and Janine made us very welcome during our stay at their lovely property La Grange. It really is a well equipped and spotlessly clean house where every possible need is catered for. The pool is a delight and we enjoyed feeding daisy and Rosie the chickens every day and eating out in the garden. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return in the future.

This beautiful barn conversation in the small village of Ladiville is set amongst sunflower fields and vineyards in the Petit Champagne area of the Charente.

Basic provisions can be found 5 minutes drive away, and the larger towns of Chateauneuf-sur-Charente and Barbezieux, each about 15 minutes drive, have a good selection of shops and restaurants.

The historic city of Angouleme, known for the Circuit des Remparts, is just 20 minutes away and offers a wide range of bars and restaurants.

The famous town of Cognac is just over 25 minutes drive and visitors can visit the many cognac distilleries.

The port of Mortagne sur Gironde and picturesqueTalmont on the Gironde estuary, and the beaches at Meschers, St Georges and Royan are about an hour away and are well worth visiting.

The Cote Sauvage, the Zoo at La Palmyre and the oyster beds at La Tremblade are also recommended.
