Beautiful cottage, warm welcome, great location.

The cottage was very clean and well equipped and very spacious. Nice to see basic essentials provided. Located close to secluded coves and almost empty beaches, very relaxing. We had some wonderful walks close by. The owner was warm and friendly and was keen to see if there were any improvements she could make. We hope to be back again soon, we loved it.

The property was bright and cheerful, lots of natural light. Comfortable and tastefully furnished.

The surroundings make for a relaxing stay, the property has all one could need for a comfortable time. A warm reception and help at hand if needed. I enjoyed exploring the many coves and beaches each with facilities and charming restaurants, all making for an enjoyable day out.

There is a lovely view of the sea from the green in front of the cottage. After my short stay i felt very refreshed and rested, I hope to return in the spring for another dose of relaxing. I will be passing on the information about "The Old Shop" to my friends.

Very clean, convenient location for visiting sites in Anglesey. Well fitted and stocked.

  • 5 of 5

Property was very clean, well decorated and lots of room for storage. Everything you needed was provided - a microwave might have been useful if we had been staying longer, but did not miss one. Host was pleasant and helpful and not intrusive. Was told to count it as our home, and it felt like it was. Some reviews mentioned traffic noise - it was fine overnight and only noticed it slightly in the mornings with the windows open - didn't keep us awake! Would definitely stay again. Thank you.

Lovely stay

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a lovely stay at the Old Shop cottage. The owners were very helpful during our stay and prior to our visit purchased a travel cot and highchair for our baby and answered numerous questions for us to make our stay as stressfree as possible. The cottage has recently been upgraded and is lovely and spacious inside given that it only has one bedroom, it is ideal for a couple or small family. From reading previous reviews there was milk and biscuits for us on arrival and a hairdryer available. The owner also offered to do some washing for us as there is no washing machine available which we knew beforehand. I feel that the only improvements that could be made would be a welcome pack with information of the local area and perhaps if room a dish washer. We would recommend this cottage as it is in an ideal position for visiting the sites of Anglesey.

Fantasic, Clean and very helpful

  • 4 of 5

Before arrival Deborah had kept in contact with us and was very helpful in answering all our questions. On arrival they were very friendly and walked us round the house showing us how the oven and sofa beds worked and made sure we were okay with everything. Also bread, butter and milk was provided for our arrival. When ever we saw them they could check to make sure everything was okay. And the house was so clean and comfortable. Although on the main road for us this didn't cause a problem. An amazing stay. X

Beautifully appointed cottage, but...........

  • 4 of 5

The Old Shop is a really beautifully appointed cottage and fits the description perfectly. Every room was quality, comfy settees, fantastic kitchen. huge bathroom with large shower area. The bedroom was also quite large with the largest, comfiest bed we have ever slept in while staying in a holiday rental.

Our only criticism of our week's stay is the the lack of 'little extras' that would make you want to make a return visit.

ie - no welcome pack. As there are no shops in Marianglas, milk, fruit or biscuits would have been nice after a long journey.

- a small bath towel and a hand towel each are not sufficient for a week's stay, particularly as there is no washing machine or any line or maiden for drying anything.

- a hairdryer would have been a nice touch, luckily I had taken my own, however the plug sockets are not placed near any mirrors, so I had to go out and buy a small mirror for the purpose.

- the wifi is absolutely non existent - even standing outside against the back wall of the cottage as instructed, the network didn't show up to join.

These comments are not meant in any way as a complaint - just perhaps something to think about for the future.

Lovely, sandy beach with cafe and sailing club.
Car: recommended

The Old Shop is located in the heart of the attractive village of Marianglas, on the east coast of the Isle of Anglesey.

The sea can be glimpsed in the distance and the local sandy beach of Traeth Bychan is a short 10-15 min walk away.

It's the ideal base from which to enjoy and explore the glorious scenery.

Marianglas is perfectly situated between the small town of Benllech, with its cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops, and the smaller picturesque resort of Moelfre, home to a well-visited RNLI Lifeboat station, which hosts the island's ever popular annual Lifeboat Day in August.

Notes:
There are numerous opportunities for sea fishing, from shore, rocks or pier. Charter boat trips operate out of Beaumaris, Amlwch and Holyhead. There is a coarse fishery at Llyn Blodyn, Lligwy, about 10 minutes' drive away. Trout fishing from shore or boat is available at Llyn Alaw, 23 miles away. Anglesey is a haven for birdwatchers all year round but the RSPB reserve at South Stack is famed for its nesting summer seabirds. Puffin Island is also home to its namesakes during the summer, and boat trips from Beaumaris pier operate daily. There are also numerous opportunities to see seals, porpoises and dolphins from the shore, especially from the north coast where the cliffs make good vantage points. The nearest nature reserve is at Cors Goch, 1.5 miles , where there is a good chance of spotting a barn owl or red squirrel. The Anglesey Riding Centre offers bridleway rides for beginners and beach gallops for experienced riders next to the Menai Straits
