Enjoy cool lake breezes and warm summer sun while relaxing on the lakefront pier, which is over 100 feet long with a 22 feet by 12 feet sitting area at the end of the pier.
The lakeside pier has a large swimming & wading area with a sandy lake bottom. The pier has stairs and a handrail so grandparents and kids have easy access in and out of the water.
The lakefront pier is only 50 feet from the porch. There are no stairs to climb to access the pier. Wading depths range from 16 inches at the seawall to 36 inches at the end of the 100 foot pier. Twenty feet beyond the pier, it is over 6 feet deep.
The cottage is single story with no stairs to climb to access the cottage or piers. Pier 121 is located on a private drive with reduced traffic, which provides added safety for kids and less noise for those who want a more peaceful stay.

The property is located on a peninsula and has another pier on the channel, which is located across the road. So you can dock you boat(s) on the lakeside pier or the channel pier. You can park your boat trailer on the back lot by the channel.
Both the lakeside pier and the channel pier are good for fishing.
We have owned a cottage at Lake Wawasee since 1987.
Mike Messmer purchased this cottage in 1997
We wanted a weekend get-away for fun and relaxation for our family. Ideally, with good fishing, sailing, boating, and water sports. With over 3000 acres, Lake Wawasee offers it all.
There is plenty of room to sail, jet ski, or water ski. And on the weekdays, it seems you have the entire lake to yourself.
The water is very clean and clear. Lake Wawasee is located at a high elevation with limited run off into the lake.
We liked having picnics and hanging out at the sand bar. Boat-in-worship on Sunday mornings is a delight.
Also, the lake offers the convenience of 3 marinas and 3 restaurants, which are accessible from the lake.
Quiet private drive. No stairs to climb for access to the lake. The screened porch with rocking chairs is always cool and comfortable. Nice swim area with sandy lake bottom.
My family rented Mike's house for a week this summer. The house was clean and comfortable, and the location is fantastic. The kids had a great time swimming off the pier and fishing in the channel. The neighbors were very nice - including Mike, who lives next door.
My family stayed at Mike's place on Lake Wawasee and had a very nice time. We particularly liked the screen porch and the view from the living room. The pier was great for swimming and lounging.
Our trip was a dream come true. The home was perfect and there is no words to describe the lake. Although the weather was very cold, we had a wonderful time.
We enjoyed the place and lake very much. Only issues we had was wish we had a bigger boat and more hours in a day to enjoy it!
Houses were a bit close together from a "party" standpoint but neighbors were not bothersome.
Mike and his home at Pier 121 were perfect for our family. I have been visiting Lake Wawasee for many years, including spending summers there as a kid. Given that Pier 121 represents an old fashioned lake house, it really brought back great memories. The house had great lake views, great fishing just off the pier and was very clean (we actually met the cleaning crew as we were moving in - very conscientious). I would recommend Pier 121 to anyone, and hope we can stay there next year!
We stayed at this property for a week in June and it was great! The house was clean and accommodated 8 adults comfortably. Having the separate laundry room was nice and we enjoyed the screened porch and patio. It was nice to have such a large front yard since we had a lot of family stop by during the day. The beach and the pier were very good with a sandy bottom for easy walking. It was shallow enough at the end of the pier to walk around, too. It sounds like a small thing, but having a ladder to get out of the water is a nice convenience. I would definitely recommend this property and we would consider renting again.
