The house has 1 super sized king bedroom with a balcony and built in safe, there is an en suite with a a large walk in shower. Bedroom 2 has a king sized bed. Bedroom 3 has twin beds. There is a shared bathroom and a ground floor WC. The living room has TV satellite, wifi and a large open air dining with seating for 6. The kitchen has large fridge freezer, oven hob, kettle Nespresso machine and toaster. The house is air conditioned with overhead room fans. The garden is very private with its own plunge pool. There is also a communal pool with sun loungers very close to the house which is ideal for children. The beach is literally over the road at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion hotel with 4 private sunbeds for guests. There are 10 houses in Turtle View which are surrounded by Bajan plantation, the houses are in a gated community and can only be accessed with a fob so therefore it is very safe. If you hire a car there is a private car park within the gated community. The house sleeps six and we also have a cot available. We offer maid service.
I am English and my husband is Irish, we have 3 children aged 20,21,23. We divide our time between England and southern Spain which is now our main home. My husband spends most of his time on the phone selling big machines that crush rock. I spend most of my time looking after him, which is a full time job. We have two lovely dogs a chocolate lab and a very spoilt maltese terrier called Bella.
Kimberley Herity purchased this house in 2014
My husband and I have holidayed in Barbados for many years we love the west coast in particular. We have always stayed in hotels and have had fabulous holidays never wanting to leave. Our three children love to come also and after years of spending enormous sums of money in hotels we decided to buy. Turtle View was perfect. We looked at many places but the location of Turtle view with its proximity to the beach and all the facilities was hard to beat.We also liked the fact that the houses are gated and the security is excellent. We would love to spend weeks and weeks in Barbados but unfortunately my husband is very busy in his business therefore we would like other people to enjoy our house whilst we cant. We love the beach and we decided to join the beach club at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion which means we have four sun loungers that our guests can use all year long.
We fell in love with our home in Barbados because of its location. We also liked that the people that had sold the land for Turtle View still live down the road and personally look after the houses and gardens as if they were there own.
This villa is simply lovely. No surprises, it looks exactly as advertised. We stayed here for two weeks last year. The rooms are all spacious and there's air conditioning upstairs. The master suite is beautiful and we loved our morning coffee on the veranda.
The air conditioning in one of the rooms broke and Iain and Kimberly were swift to sort it out. The communal pool was always ours and we never saw anyone else there. It was the warmest, cleanest pool. The splash pool was bigger than the photos show and the kids loved it. The cleaner came once and cleaned for hours- the place was spotless after. It was nice to have a garden of our own- it felt like a home from home. The buses pass the end of the street and are easy to use. The beach is across the road and down a walkway. You need passes to get in which made it feel exclusive, (provided by Iain and Kimberley.) The beach was always quiet with good water sports. One thing I was worried about with young children is that all the reviews said no lifeguards in Barbados. But the beach near the villa had security and a life guard & tower. It made us feel safe, although the beach was always calm and clear so I needn't have worried.
There's a gated car park if you do hire a car. We will definitely be returning and plan to stay here again.
We had a truly magical, memorable holiday whilst staying at Porters. The villa is perfectly located for the beach, main road leading to all the sights and of course the wonderful "Lone Star Restaurant" only a 5 min walk away. The Royal Fairmont Beach club access was perfect , we were able to use the loungers & umbrellas ( free) , water sports ( extra cost) and theres a restaurant which was ideal. The villa is exactly as described, modern, beautifully designed and the pool is ideally located. We will be definitely returning to Porters very soon. Thank you so much Kimberley for being so helpful throughout the entire process. Very best wishes Charlotte
We just returned from 2 weeks in Barbados where we stayed at this private property in Porters on the west coast. It was perfect...We have been going to Barbados for many years and tried many different hotels and occasionally a private house or apartment. This was by far the best accommodation we have stayed in. Great location...quiet gated community, 3 bedrooms with fans and air con, modern and comfortable with all mod cons. Also very conveniently situated for the beach and the use of the Fairmont Royal Pavilion Beach Club is a real bonus. We did everything from fish-fry at Oistins to the incomparable Cliff restaurant not to mention the camp cabaret at Ragamuffins on a Sunday night in Holetown it was fabulous. We also rented a car and drove across the island to Bathsheba on the East coast and marvelled at the huge Atlantic waves that roll in...followed by a glorious afternoon at the races up at the Garrison Savannah. We really had the best time and the house was a great base from which to explore and enjoy the island.
The listing was totally accurate, the property was clean and well maintained and the owner provided great customer service with the property manager Maureen there to meet and greet us and was always on hand (via telephone) for any problem solving that needed to be done...except there were NO problems to solve!!! I would totally recommend this property to friends and relatives and look forward to returning there very soon. Andy & Jo Morahan
The property is a large 3 bed semi-detached on a gated complex of 10 houses and is right next to the communal swimming pool. Only one other property was occupied when we were there. The complex is 100 meters from the main road but you can't hear the traffic.
At the end of the road you can catch one of the the numerous busses to Holetown which has a great supermarket. You also have a choice at the end of the road!! 200 meters walk to the left takes you to the Fairmont Royal Pavilion beach club as the owners have paid for sun loungers there, the food was excellent. 200 meters to the right and you can hire sun loungers outside Ju Ju's bar which has far more character than the beach club and there’s another beach bar slightly further along.
Maureen the manager looked after us very well and we used the Taxi driver the owners recommended, which was stress free. Its a great great location, very close to the beach and 5 mins from Holetown. Perfect.
I stayed at Turtle View in mid July for 10 days with my two teenage children. The villa is exactly as the pictures and was spotlessly clean and beautifully equipped. It was great to have the American Fridge freezer and the washing machine. We also loved the plunge pool and having it right outside the patio doors. We used the communal pool about half a dozen times whilst we were there and were always the only ones there. The gardens surrounding the villas are gorgeously tropical and beautifully kept. The whole ambiance is private and peaceful, whilst the convenience of amenities are no more than 5 minutes away. Kimberley was a joy to deal with and answered all my pre holiday questions quickly and efficiently. The WIFI was fast and there is a sports package on the TV. Buses are about 50m away at the end of the road, the beach is about 200m. The beach access at Fairmont worked really well and the beach cafe there (which closes at 5pm) was perfect for a salad, burger or sandwich for lunch. We loved Jujus for local home cooked food and a rum punch at sunset (they close around 6) or the Fairmont Hotel or Lonestar for a smarter more upmarket meal. You can walk past Glitter Bay (heading left on the beach) and walk over to Colony Club and Coral Reef Club along the beach too. There are a couple of slippery parts and you might get knee deep water at certain times of the day, but it's a lovely stroll along the beach and you get to see some incredible beach villas along the way that back onto the beach. Holetown is about a mile away and is great for supermaket shopping and Limegrove has many upmarket boutiques and little eateries. We walked in most days from the villa as we wanted the exercise, otherwise it's 5mins on the bus (2BDS each way).
To sum up, this villa was probably too big for 3 of us, you'd still be rolling around if there were 6 of you, but we loved it. I would definitely recommend it and the entire process was stress free, efficient and just as I'd hope and expected.
This is a lovely villa, exactly as you see it in photos on the site. It is tastefully decorated, well maintained and perfectly clean. It has open plan living downstairs, leading to a patio garden with seating area and a small plunge pool. Upstairs are three bedrooms, two spacious doubles and a small twin, all air conditioned and with fans whilst downstairs there is only a fan. There is a communal pool, but we had it to ourselves on all days of our stay, perhaps because we were there in low season.
The property is well located in a quiet spot, despite being a short walk from the road. Beach is a short walk (you will need to cross main road though but this was never a problem). Nearest supermarket is in Holetown, a short drive south or a few stops on local bus. No more than a couple of miles north we found a small fish market next to a fire station where we got delicious fish.
We hired a car and toured the island, visited many areas and all main attractions. West coast is definitely best for staying as a family with small kids as the sea is calm and warm, and the area is generally well developed and maintained, with many upmarket developments along the coast.
The owner Kimberley was a pleasure to deal with, very helpful and answered all my questions promptly. Thank you for a great experience. This was our first visit to Barbados but I hope not the last!
Turtle View is in an Ideal location for all the attractions of St James. There are numerous wonderful renowned restaurants on the west coast including the famous Cliff and Lone star which is just 5 minutes by foot up the Road. We are very fortunate enough to have four private beach sunbeds for our guests at the Royal Pavilion hotel which is literally just over the Road. The west coast of Barbados has 7 miles of golden sand and crystal clear Caribbean sea. There is excellent snorkeling and water sports available, you can also swim with the large turtles that frequent Payne's Bay. There is excellent shopping at Lime Grove including an array of designer shops cocktail bars and restaurants. If you are a golfer you will be spoiled at the choice of world class courses including the famous Sandy Lane and Royal Westmoreland both being within very short distance. The capitol Bridgetown is 8 miles away by car and definitely wort a visit. Polo is very popular in Barbados and you will often see notices for afternoon polo matches. Port St Charles is a luxury development of apartments and houses and has a lovely marina, this is a lovely place to visit and have lunch. The famous Sandy lane is only moments away where you can call in for afternoon tea or Sunday lunch, its always best to make a reservation. The biggest attraction for us in Barbados is the people. They are so friendly and always happy to please. They genuinely embrace tourists and you will always feel so welcome its hard to leave.
