Though this suite is the largest of the 5 guest apartments of our house, we do prefer to host only 2-3 guests in it.
The Terraced Suite is about luxury, and not about the efficient use of space....

This elegant Aristocratic Beaux-Art style Landmark Townhouse was built in 1904 from Indiana limestone and Italian marble. It has been our family's main residence since 1994.
My husband, and I, and our young son live on the top three floors (4,5,6) of the house.
The lower floors we have converted into completely separate & very private guest apartments (all independent entry) available for short term let year-round.
We have been hosting guests from around the world since 2005.

Julia & Claudio, the owners, live full-time in the same Townhouse purchased this apartment in 1988
This is the perfect location for our annual stay in New York, and actually it was our second stay in this particular suite. We were greeted at the front entrance, our luggage was carried in, and Julia even managed to stock the refrigerator for us. As the location is on a very quiet Upper East Side residential street we were not confronted by the hustle and bustle of the city as soon as we stepped out of our front door. Central Park is only a few steps away as are numerous great museums and upmarket restaurants. Furthermore, we are at the centre of the city. The Subway/Tube is only a 4 minute walk, and quickly we were in SoHo or Times Square or the Theatre District. The suite itself is extremely comfortable, upscale, and secure. The terrace at the back is a lovely place to sit and take in what you have seen in this wonderful city during the day. The local amenities (food shops, restaurants) are plentiful and very near at hand. Julia is a friendly and caring hostess who is wonderful to deal with. She is meticulous about whom she lets stay as guests, and keeps the townhouse property in an immaculate condition. My wife and I truly had a wonderful time, and we are truly looking forward to our next visit.
Beautiful location on a quiet street of the upper east side, exquisitely furnished and steps from central park. No small wonder that the feel of this place would reflect its reasonable proximity to two stalwart luxury hotels. A live in host who caters to your every need with warmth and great precision, and is more than happy to share here insights on local gems in this great neighborhood. Attention to detail and laundry services made our stay a winner. We arrived on a Holiday and felt immediately at home. Very clean and well kept- with a nice kitchenette if you need it. My wife loved it and we can't wait for the next time.
My wife and I stayed at 10 East 76th St. in the Deluxe Terrace Suite for 9 days in the middle of June. We are mature and well-travelled. We have booked short term apts. in NYC before and this was by far our best experience. The location is ideal for us with an entrance to Central Park less than a block away. It is the best part of Central Park with the Conservatory Water sailboat race pond, rental rowboats and the Delacorte Fountain all close by. At the end of the block you will find Café Boulud handy and a few blocks south on Madison there is a nice little grocery with everything you might need and Eli Zabar’s Pastries is across the street. Madison Ave. is home to wall to wall high end clothes and shoe stores as well as jewelers. The gem called the Metropolitan Museum is a short walk north.
The building is beautiful and landmarked. The apts. are roomy and well maintained. Our apt. is exceptionally quiet. It had everything we needed. The wifi was fast and without fault. The cable TV had more channels than we have at home. Anna the housekeeper was attentive and it was wonderful being able to have her do our laundry. Julia will handle the details of your stay with precision, kindness and clarity. Face the facts. Lodging in NYC is expensive because demand and building expenses are high. Compare these apts. with the hotels in the neighborhood. You will get a full kitchen, a separate bedroom and much more floor space at 10 East 76th for the same price as a hotel studio with a cube refrigerator. We are lucky to have found this apt. and will definitely stay here on all our NYC trips.
It is worrisome signing on for an expensive stay and dealing with someone you don’t know and maybe in a city you are not familiar with. Let me put your mind at ease. You will get what is promised and have a good time at this apt.
PS-Red Farm is our favorite restaurant. It is always very crowded and busy and not a place for us. It is right on the other side of the Park and lo and behold they have a wonderful delivery service that never failed to bring our food to 10 East 76th piping hot. We are in Palm Beach 6 months a year and there is no similar great food that can be ordered in there.
The owners are always available to answer questions and make your stay as easy and comfortable as possible. The townhouse was impeccably clean and everything was in excellent working condition.
The location is perfect for museums and Central Park. The neighborhood is easily accessible to great shopping and boutique establishments.
We would highly recommend this townhouse to anyone and hope to stay there again in the future!
I was able to convince my wife to take our 12 and 9 year old daughters to NY for the first time. While I travel often to NY and other large cities, my wife has always been overwhelmed by the Big Apple and the crowds. Julia and Claudio provided us a "home away from home." We had a wonderful three night stay in the Terraced Apt. Plenty of room to be together and relax. All of the recommendations for local shopping and restaurants were spot on. It was wonderful to step out of the condo and not be run over by crowds, but instead see locals walking their dogs! Only steps to the MET, Central Park and everything we needed made the stay wonderful. Time Square was only a 10 minute cab ride at most after a day of walking. Our host could not have been more accommodating. While the home was full, we rarely saw or heard any of the other guest. Julia and Claudio take great care with whom they open their home to in order to ensure all have a wonderful experience. We will be back!
This was our second stay with Julia and Claudio and we can’t imagine staying anywhere else in New York City. We are a professional couple who travel often for business and leisure and the apartment has plenty of room for us to work between meetings. The kitchen is well equipped and we were able to enjoy many meals at home, including our NYC-based daughter’s birthday dinner. The shower water pressure is perfectly delicious and the daily housekeeping includes laundry service, which was quite a plus for this 12 day stay. A favorite feature of the Terraced Suite is the magnificent collection of Italian prints that line the walls. We look forward to returning when the weather is warm to enjoy the lovely outdoor terrace.
