Indescribable experience. Duccio and his sister Anna were wonderful hosts and treated us like family. Our hosts were always available for questions that might arise. The villa and property are beyond beautiful. The views were astonishing. Thank you Duccio!

Surpassed all expectations

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 5 women, checking a dream vacation to Tuscany off our bucket list. We could not have been more thrilled with the Santa Virginia house on the estate of Tenuta Larnianone. The house itself was amazing. Each of us had our own spacious bedroom and private bathroom. The bathrooms were well appointed, something that 5 women appreciated very much. The kitchen was a large old farm kitchen with all the modern amenities and was well equipped. There was also a small washer and dryer that we used a few times. We had a bit of a learning curve figuring out how to run these machines, which were a little different from the ones back in the US.

But even more wonderful than the house was the breathtaking scenery. Some days all we wanted to do was pull up a chair and drink in the gorgeous view of the valley below us and the grape vines and olive groves all around us.

Our landlord, Duccio, was a delight. He was a most attentive host, from the day we first arrived to be greeted with a bottle of his wine, a loaf of bread, salami, and fresh fruit. He was very accomodating to any of our requests, and gave us lots of tips about places to visit and things to see on our visit. Duccio can also arrange a cooking class or a dinner prepared in the home. We arranged, through him, for a chef named Monica to prepare a Tuscan dinner for us on our last night. Our only regret was that we waited until the last night for that dinner because there were so many left overs. We could have had a few more meals on the delicious leftovers. Another tip Duccio gave us was a recommendation to contact Texi Tours for any travel/ tour needs we might have. We were quite happy with Francesca from Texi. She arranged our transportation to and from the airport in Florence and also some private tours we requested. I would highly recommend them.

In summary, this place was like something out of a fairy tale or a movie set. I would love to take my family back there someday. There would be plenty of room for a larger group. Besides the 6 bedrooms in the house, there is a small guest house right across the yard and an apartment attached to the house with a separate entrance for extra guests. These are only rented to groups requiring more rooms than are available in the main house.

We were just up the road from Siena,, a beautiful trip on country roads, about a 4 mile drive. We rented a car during our stay and visited several of the surrounding towns .Highly recommend this house!

Owner's Response: Dear Connie, thank you for your kind words. I am happy that you spent a nice period with us. It is so rare, today, to have some serene and pleasant moments! I am happy you are planning to come back and I suggest to come during Palio time (on 2nd July or on 16th August). It is a period where the medieval history of Siena come back again. I am looking forwards to hearing from you soon. A warm embrace to all of you, Ciao, Duccio

Unforgettable family vacation at this beautiful home and property

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family of 11 (two sets of grandparents, an aunt and uncle, mom, dad and three girls) spent an unforgettable week at Santa Virginia. The home and property exceeded our expectations - the views from the home are incredibly beautiful, some of our favorite moments were simply looking at the view with our morning coffee and evening wine. The villa itself felt quintessentially Tuscan and rustic, yet so clean, spacious and well appointed. It was the perfect blend of old and new, and provided every comfort. The two large living areas were perfect for our large group. The dining area seated all of our family comfortably, and there was plenty of quality glassware, dishes, silverware, mugs, etc. for all of us (my MIL, who has owned rental properties in the past, commented several times on how extraordinarily well appointed the house was!). In the living room, we enjoyed sitting around the fireplace with a glass of wine (the evenings were still quite cool during our visit) while watching the kids (and adults) play game after game of foosball (again, perfect blend of old and new to please all tastes and ages!).

We took several walks around the property, just enjoying the views and vineyards (the views....TRULY amazing). We are a group of wine lovers, and enjoyed the private tour of the estate's wine cellar as well as drinking the estate wines, which we could purchase as desired throughout the week. We also enjoyed two chef dinners at the villa, arranged by the owners. Monica cooked for us on our first night, and then again mid-week where she provided a cooking class, in addition to dinner. Monica's dinners were delicious and a wonderful vacation treat to relax and enjoy such a nice dinner in the comfort of "home."

The location of the property in relation to Siena is also ideal. We felt completely away from it all while at the villa, yet, with just a short drive we would be in downtown Siena. Some homes we had considered renting were quite far from any towns, and we felt quite lucky that we chose Santa Virginia not only for the beautiful home but for the excellent location.

We would not hesitate to recommend Santa Virginia to any of our family or friends. And the owners took excellent care of us, responding promptly to all of my questions prior to the trip, and taking immediate care of any minor questions we had during our stay. Our family TRULY hopes to return to Tenuta Larnianone some day. Grazie mille, Duccio and family!

Late Summer/early Fall Harvest Trip

  • 5 of 5

Santa Virginia and the Morfini family and staff's hospitality was exceptional during our month stay at this amazing property. The pictures are very accurate and don't do the property justice as the views in any weather are breathtaking and spectacular! The warm days at the early part of our stay allowed us the use the pool and grounds like a summer retreat and as the weather turned cooler we were allowed to learn about the vineyard and cantina and feel a part of harvest and making of the amazing wines from this working tenuta. Duccio and Ana were very helpful with all of our questions and concerns and offered great advise regarding places to see and how to navigate the local area. This property is wonderfully located to reach the surrounding hill/wine towns and yet have close access to Siena and Florence for their bounties. I would without reservation recommend this property to anyone wanting a short or long term rental in a gorgeous Italian country style home for a special family getaway.

Stunning views

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from staying at this amazing property set in the Tuscan hills, less than 10 minutes from Siena. The beauty of the property both inside and out was fantastic. We were a group of 10 people (5 couples) staying for a week. The farmhouse was incredibly spacious very clean upon arrival and beautifully furnished with period pieces. A mid-week visit to replenish to change sheets, clean towels in the bathrooms and kitchen and any other amenities we required was arranged around our schedule and a nice touch. The house does not have air conditioning, however, is not required. The breezes in the area and the cross-breezes throughout the house were cooling in the evening. No issues at all with sleeping as there was no residual heat left in the house from the high afternoon outside temperatures of at least 30 degrees C .

We would gladly return to this property. The pictures on the VRBO site didn't disappoint and were a true reflection of the property. Our host Duccio was very informative, pleasant to deal with and was available for any questions we had or any issues that we faced.

Truly an enjoyable vacation, a dream come true to stay in an old Tuscan farmhouse overseeing the vineyards and olive groves.
