We purchased the property in 2014. We have 4 children and we are all keen skiers and have visited many ski areas in the last 10 years in Switzerland, France and Italy. We visited Le Grand Bornand for the first time in 2014 and fell in love with the traditional French village and the great skiing.
We live in the south of England and travel to Le Grand Bornand either by car or via Geneva airport.
Paul Challis purchased this apartment in 2014
We chose to buy this property as it was a great size for a family of six and also had room for any additional friends that we or the children wanted to invite. We had previously stayed in many expensive small apartments with sofa beds or bunk beds but in Apartment Snow Fall there is plenty of room and everybody gets their own proper bed. The skiing is great for all the family and there are a number great family restaurants to visit apres ski.
Le Grand Bornand is also only 1 hours drive from Geneva airport and also is one of the nearest ski resorts to northern France.
It has fantastic views from the balcony across to the mountains and down towards the village and it is only a short walk to the village centre or the ski lifts.
If you want to get the ski bus it stops regularly just outside the apartment block.
3rd time I've been now, this time with my son and two friends, and we had a great time again. As it was just the 4 of us we obviously had plenty of space in the apartment. We even cocked a few evenings and found everything we needed in the kitchen and there was plenty of wood for the fireplace. A small issue with the toilet flush was fixed immediately after getting in touch with the owner and athough there was limited fresh snow the sunshine made up for it. We all had a great skiing experience and would definitely come again.
The property is very well maintained and equipped. Perfect for a group / family ski trip. Amazing views from the balcony . It's well located / connected to the village of Grand Bornard and the ski areas - will be back !
Situated in a lovely area, this apartment includes a spacious modern open plan kitchen and the bedrooms are extremely comfortable. There are wonderful views from the balcony and the weather was hot (30 degrees) all week. The village offers a range of activities, including archery, paragliding, swimming and parcours as well as a good selection of bars and restaurants. Close by is the city of Annecy with its beautiful lake which is definitely worth a visit.
The property is in a great location (ski bus stop just outside), excellent views on the sorounding mountains, very spacious and offered all we needed to feel home from home. I stayed with a few friends, all at different skiing levels, and we couldn't have picked a better resort. Great, well prepared slopes for all skiing levels (during the 4 days we skied we rarely used the same slopes) and the weather was superb. I'd definitely take the family there as well. The town offers several good restaurants and is in short walking distance from the property. Can't wait to go again next year.
This is the best ski apartment I have ever stayed in. First off, it's massive - there were only four of us (big men) but each had our own proper double room, and two bedrooms. You could easily accommodate 10 if two don't mind sleeping on the comfy sofas. Then, the sitting and dining areas are plenty big enough and very comfortable and there's UK and Euro TV so you don't need to miss any of your favourite programmes! The kitchen is also a good size and very practical, so if you want you can cook (dishwasher too!).
The Apartment is about 10mins walk to the town and gondola, but of you don't want to walk, the ski bus stops outside, so the location couldn't be better really. The town itself is very good - lots of little shops, supermarkets and restaurants - not too pricey (e.g. pizza about 10 Euro).
If you want to look around further afield, I suggest a trip to Annecy which has a lovely lake and medieval buildings - definitely worth an afternoon as it's only about 40mins drive, I didn't go, but I think Chamoinix is about the same distance too.
This a great place - and the host is lovely to deal with too - book it!
Le Grande-Bornarde is a perfect place to stay for families or friends. It was great that the apartment had a bath! The apartment is part of a wider block and so it was always warm with plenty of hot water. The apartment was a 5-10 minute walk to the ski lift but there was regular buses that took you there. Overall a great stay
