About Mariano Vega, Jr.

I am a City guy, born in the rainforest of Puerto Rico and I enjoy the outdoors. Weeping Willow provided an opportunity to restore a Queen Anne Victorian to modern standards, while addressing the Secretary of Interior Historic Preservation guidelines and creating a wonderful vacation home for my family and in anticipation of my grandkids.

Mariano Vega, Jr. purchased this house in 2005

Why Mariano Vega, Jr. chose Catskills

I have been skiing the Catskills Mountains for over 50 years and after my daughter graduated from college, we finally purchased a vacation home for our family use, in anticipation of our grandchildren. Weeping Willow is a very large historic Queen Anne Victorian which has been meticulously restored and designed for comfort and modern conveniences. It is well suited for family reunions, large group gatherings corporate retreats and weddings.

What makes this house unique

As a former Bed and Breakfast, Weeping Willow is very large and ideal large families and for multiple family gatherings, reunion, weddings with the modern comforts in a getaway setting. The side yard is large for weddings, reunion and for the kids to play and directly across the street is the Village Park and down the street is the Village pool. The Village Park has great tennis courts, soccer fields, children's playground and a community garden.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Eleven of us had a great time here learning about this God who loves. This God who can relate to the unfairness of the world because he died unfairly, and a God who doesn't care about what we deserve, because we don't get what we deserve, we get grace, forgiveness and love.

It has been a great house with weekend hike on the Haines Trail, BBQ and fellowship.

Wonderful, Roomy Vacation Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We and another family enjoyed staying here over Christmas vacation and skiing at nearby Bellayre Mountain, which is under five minutes away. The home could not be lovelier or more charmingly decorated. Even with two families, this spacious home allowed plenty of comfort and privacy. Cooking for a crowd was easy and fun in the very equipped kitchen. We would love to come back here again!

Beautiful mansion in Fleischmanns.

  • 5 of 5

We rented Mariano's beautiful home for our wedding weekend, for our very best friends to stay. They were so very comfortable. Mariano is an absolute pleasure to do business with - he shared many helpful and endearing pointers for wedding services in the area, and overall is just a really nice guy. THANK YOU MARIANO!

Comfort and Charm

  • 5 of 5

This property is a definite "Let's do it again!" The perfect venue for large family gatherings for those who just want to relax and have fun. The owner pays attention to detail and if you need it, it's there. Best feature is the back deck - great for hanging out on moonlit starry nights. Lovely windchimes add musical backdrop to perfect evenings.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. I am pleased that you are considering returning and that you appreciated the various chimes around the porch and linai. If you pay close attention you will realize that the chimes are coordinated to the song Amazing Grace.

Large, well stocked home

  • 4 of 5

The Weeping Willow is a beautiful, well maintained home that is perfect for a large group. The kitchen is well stocked and the large back deck is perfect for parties. There are even two grills! Other than the kitchen, which is quite new, it is furnished in traditional Victorian decor and furnishings. They are a bit warn and dark for my taste, but this is the style of the home. The beds are comfortable and the linens are new. The bathrooms are a bit outdated and the one sink on the 3rd floor wasn't usable due to a major leak, but I'm sure it will be fixed soon. We were there during a hot stretch in July and the 3rd floor exhaust fan helped cool things off. The town of Fleischmanns seemed to be in very hard times. Many large homes were in poor condition and several were for sale. It is sad because this house stands out.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. Weeping Willow is a Historic Queen Anne that have been restored according to the US Secretary of Interior guidelines of historic preservation. As you noticed the kitchen has been redone to days modern and convenient standard with Professional Viking appliances. I really appreciate you pointing out the malfunctioning sink in the attic. My cleaning lady and I must have missed it when we were doing our prior renter's review. It was immediately fix and now in good working order, It is true that Fleischmanns has seen hard times, but hope is alive with the two future development projects coming to area. Environmental approvals have been obtains for a major condo/golf course development, condo/spa and expansion of Belleayre Ski Mountain. A few new businesses have opened on Main and Wagner Ave. I am optimistic that the best is yet to come.

Peaceful, tranquil and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We spend the weekend at Weeping Willow. The weather was beautiful. there is a supermarket and a cvs about 10 minutes away in Margaretville which is very convenient. The house is beautiful. I sat out one morning and just enjoyed the beautiful trees, mountainside and all the different bird sounds.

the house is beautiful and very well kept. All the amenities are available and there is a nice front and back porch. It can accommodate many people and its just an amazing place. We are from the City, so to get away to Weeping willow for a weekend is a well needed and enjoyable treat. There is a huge park area directly across the street and a very large back yard. You owe it to yourself to stay there even if for a weekend. I can almost guarantee you will want to go back!!
