Well-equipped, convenient to Many Glacier and St. Mary entrances to GNP
We wanted a fully equipped unit with kitchen that was close to the east side Glacier NP entrances, and this delivered. We appreciated a few bonuses: lots of pantry items, a dispenser of hot or cold filtered water, and an extra can of bear spray (which we didn't need but others might). The property would be even more appealing for future guests with the addition of: 1. turn-by-turn directions supplied in advance (we struggled to understand the online map or to recognize the unmarked dirt road that led to the property, and tried but failed to reach the owner on the day of our arrival); 2. an outdoor seating area for guests that faces the remarkable view of Chief Mtn. 3. reading lamps on both sides of the bed.
Thank you for your thoughtful review. We provided an outside seating area in the shaded area on the side of the A-Frame but will consider adding a second bench to provide our guests with an unobscured view of the mountains.
In the welcome package we included directions to our A-Frame from the three major airports servicing the Glacier National Park area and detailed maps of the Duck Lake area when guest arrive. I will add some additional photos to help travelers identify the turn off of Highway 464 between mile markers 30 and 31.
Wonderful experience. The place was so well appointed - and immaculately clean. The hosts were gracious and hospitable as well. We enjoyed our stay immensely.
The accommodation was fabulous and perfect location for our hiking !
Ken and Gena were gracious hosts - could not have been more helpful
We have recommended their cottage to others and would stay there again!
The A-frame was perfect for our adventure. After several years in Glacier you hone in on what makes a good base camp. Ken made every accommodation for our stay and it was appreciated. Super friendly and full of details for our daily hikes/climbs. First rate. Thanks again
Quaint Hiking Retreat
Ken's A-frame cabin was the perfect hiking retreat. Immaculately clean and very close to east entrance of the park as well as many glacier entrance. We wish we could have stayed longer! Only 2 downsides - no wifi and for us (AT&T) no phone service so we were completely out of communication while there. Ken was nice enough to let us use his personal wifi the first night to contact family but had to go inside his house. Also the water while we were there was quite hard (mineral/sulfur). Ken said he was switching tanks which caused it, but if you are sensitive to the smell I would be a bit cautious. Overall, 10/10! We were very happy hikers.
Ellie, glad you had a nice vacation in Glacier. Thank you for mentioning the hard water. I switched water sources and it is no longer an issue.
Everything about this property was wonderful. Will definitely be back.
Glad you enjoyed your visit. Look forward to seeing you again in the future!
Interesting boat tours at Many Glacier, St. Marys, and Two Medicine.
Great dining at the Cattle Baron Restaurant, Many Glacier Lodge, and St. Mary Lodge.
Enjoy an authentic western experience (music and food) at the Duck Lake Lodge (cowboys hats and boots are suggested attire LOL).
