About Debbie

The photo was taken in May 2009 on the Cowlitz River. During a difficult time of chemotherapy and radiation, I came to the river to be heal my mind, body and spirit. The sounds of the river, and the rich abundance of wildlife allows my parasympthetic nervous system to relax. It is at Wild Salmon Retreat that I feel most alive and I hope your spirits will be rejuvenated too. As a registered nurse, and soon to be nurse practitioner, I know the importance of needing to take time for ourselves and our health.

What makes this cabin unique

When your needing to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and need a place to relax, Wild Salmon Retreat is an excellent choice. Wild Salmon Retreat features a wood burning stove in the living area and the heat will melt your tensions away. My cabin will allow your sympathetic nervous system to relax.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Debbie was a fantastic host, and the cabin was just beautiful. On our way up to the cabin there was a large storm that caused a power outage in the area (totally out of Debbie's control, power was out for a 90 mile radius!), and Debbie messaged us to let us know in case we wanted to cancel, and arranged for the cleaner to start a fire and leave a lantern and candles. We ended up having a lovely evening in the cozy cabin, and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Thanks so much for everything Debbie, I hope to stay in the cabin again some day!

Just what the soul needed

  • 5 of 5

"I come to the mountains to breath." This is just what we needed. A place to just get back to basics, the important things. This gem of a cabin is warm, inviting, relaxing and QUIET. Of course the fishing was fabulous, turn right, turn left, the possibilities in this area are endless. Debbie is the bomb! Her love for her cabin shows in every little detail. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place for you!

Wild Salmon Retreat in Packwood WA

  • 5 of 5

Location was perfect for visiting both Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier. Cabin was comfortable, clean and had all the essentials that were needed. Beds were extremely comfortable. Since our stay was short we didn't get to use the hot tub or enjoy the inside/outside fire. Debbie was great to work with and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Packwood and the cabin. The instructions for getting to the cabin need to be updated as they indicated the cabin was 2 miles from a Shell Station that is no longer a Shell Station.

Very cute and clean. Place is cozy with nice furnishings and comfortable.

Great place to get away and unplug. Creates a relaxing atmosphere. Home is well cared for and owner was helpful and welcoming. Hot tub was very nice! My stay included myself, my husband and four sons. There was plenty on room for all of us. Property was in a beautiful setting with close proximity to the river. Only criticisms would be that there were not enough wash cloths for all six of us, not being able to use the washer or dryer especially for linens, oven did not work properly and there is no place to store non perishable foods. We enjoyed our stay.

great family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Debbie's cozy cabin! Our two young boys loved exploring in the snow and by the river. We all enjoyed ending our evenings relaxing in the hot tub or around the campfire. The upstairs loft allowed the adults some post bedtime privacy to watch movies or play board games without waking the little ones sleeping downstairs. I would highly recommend this property and hope we have a chance to return in the future.

Perfect Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The perfect cabin, the perfect trip. We knew the cabin would look amazing from the pictures, but what we didn't expect was the little things. Our trip was just before Christmas, and when we arrived the whole house was decked out in holiday cheer! Just added even more coziness to this amazing little cabin. Debbie was fantastic with communication, everything was exactly as expected (and even better!) We didn't need any help with anything, but if we had, Kristen was just a phone call away. Firewood was ample, the hot tub was hot, and the ambiance couldn't be beat. The cabin doesn't have WiFi, and Packwood didn't have good cellular internet service for us. That's something good to know going in, but for us that's exactly what we were looking for. It was a wonderful no-phone, unplugged vacation that we sorely needed in this ever-connected world. And there's a cafe in town that has WiFi if we needed it, but we didn't. Overall, an amazing experience. We'll absolutely be back. Book with confidence, Debbie and this cabin are excellent.
