About Debbie

The photo was taken in May 2009 on the Cowlitz River. During a difficult time of chemotherapy and radiation, I came to the river to be heal my mind, body and spirit. The sounds of the river, and the rich abundance of wildlife allows my parasympthetic nervous system to relax. It is at Wild Salmon Retreat that I feel most alive and I hope your spirits will be rejuvenated too. As a registered nurse, and soon to be nurse practitioner, I know the importance of needing to take time for ourselves and our health.

Debbie purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Debbie chose Mount Rainier

When you need to unplug this is the place to visit. Cabin features a wood stove, not gas stove. Wood is provided.

What makes this cabin unique

When your needing to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and need a place to relax, Wild Salmon Retreat is an excellent choice. Wild Salmon Retreat features a wood burning stove in the living area and the heat will melt your tensions away. My cabin will allow your sympathetic nervous system to relax.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Debbie was a fantastic host, and the cabin was just beautiful. On our way up to the cabin there was a large storm that caused a power outage in the area (totally out of Debbie's control, power was out for a 90 mile radius!), and Debbie messaged us to let us know in case we wanted to cancel, and arranged for the cleaner to start a fire and leave a lantern and candles. We ended up having a lovely evening in the cozy cabin, and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Thanks so much for everything Debbie, I hope to stay in the cabin again some day!

Great cabin. Loved the fireplace and all the room, comfy couches, all the comforts of home, great location for going to Mt. Rainier. I loved walking down to the Cowlitz River, too. Very peaceful. Didn't want to leave, wish i could live there.

Simplistic, cozy getaway

  • 4 of 5

Great location! Quiet but is close to town and to Mt Rainer. A bit dated on the inside but was very clean and has been well taken care of. The hot tub was extremely nice after a long day of hiking, the temperature was nice and hot and the tub was very clean. Only downside for us was the bathroom sink was a bit slow to drain and this cabin doesn't have air conditioning. The owner does have fans which do help but it still can get a bit warm inside during the day. Overall was a wonderful place to spend our honeymoon vacation.

Wonderful cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a last minute change to our plans this summer and found this cabin just east of pack wood. Such a great place to enjoy the cascades. We had easy access to Fishing on the cowlitz river and to Mt. Rainier. I would recommend this property to anyone. The hot tub is bonus as well. Thanks, hope to be back someday.

Well maintained cabin conveniently located close to great hikes!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay over the 4th of July weekend. The cabin is comfortable and has everything you'll need and things you didn't know you'd need (like the most incredible VHS collection that I've ever seen - what a blast from the past!) The location is wonderful; very close to some great dog-friendly hikes and close to Rainier as well. Packwood itself is small but charming. Would definitely return!
