About Mrs Sonia
Hallo everyone! My name is SONIA and I am from Lucca. I run my Lucca Holiday Rentals company that offers exceptional apartments in the heart of Lucca. My goal is to help you fall in love with Lucca – to discover, explore, taste and savor new sights and experiences in this incredible city. My company began almost 10 years ago when I started to rent my family villa after my parents moved to the mountains when they got retired. I spent there my entire childhood and I grew up there in deep contact with the nature and the history. My father thaught me everything about the birds and the antique trees and flowers of the villa and the smell of the sizzling pans used to wake me up each Sunday morning after my mum started to cook! I was fascinated by her when she was telling me the history of the villa in the past century. I thought this kind of feelings are too precious to let them go so then I had the idea to share my love of Lucca and “la dolce Vita” by finding beautiful apartments , villas and farmhouses in my favorite Lucca neighborhoods among my family members properties. Lucca Holiday Rentals started out as a boutique family company and now there are over 15 people working together. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team who will assist you every step of the way, from your first enquiry to your arrival in Lucca.
Mrs Sonia purchased this Apartment in 2014

Charming apartment that feels like a townhouse.
We loved the charm of this sweet apartment! Felt like a townhome. We cooked most nights and had the basics to do that. Great quiet safe location — with bikes! We rode them on the wall in Lucca — highly recommended! We would stay again!
The apartment is very well presented, very clean and adequately equipped. A small prep knife would be the only thing we could mention that we would have found useful. The kitchen is on the small side just enough space for 2 people to work in. The electric supply is very sensitive and was a little frustrating at times but with careful planning it was easy to coordinate. The upper bedroom does not have air con but there is an electric fan which we found adequate in conjunction with leaving the air con switched on in the lounge. It is worth mentioning most days during our stay it was over 30 degrees and we found the apartment cool and comfortable - except when cooking 😓 😊😊 overall we enjoyed our stay.
Convenient location for our month-long stay
Reading through the most recent review, I couldn't describe the layout of the apartment any better.
Sonia was waiting for us when we arrived, having called a taxi for us to take us from the parking garage to the apartment. She welcomed us and shared her tips to help up feel at home. The next day, we had to call her regarding a couple needed plumbing repairs and she took care of them promptly.
Since we were there for a month, we missed a few conveniences in the kitchen: a 500 ml measuring cup (we left the one we purchased), a few smaller sized bowls, a paring knife or something smaller than all the long knives provided, and a second saucepan. We're not complaining, just noting.
The apartment is very quiet other than the occasional work that was being performed on the building. If mobility is an issue, the bedroom/bathroom on the main floor can be an issue, especially during the night. The second bedroom would be out of the question with the spiral staircase and a very low bed. There are two new bicycles in the garage which we didn't use, but are a very nice touch for those able to ride around town and on the wall. We enjoyed the bright, sunny light from the courtyard, especially with the doors open to enjoy the formal garden. Thank you, Sonia, for making us feel at home.
Overall very nice, we would have liked the kitchen to be better equipped for a month long stay (measurements cup and spoons, saucepans, small bowls, etc.). If mobility issues, there are 4 steps up to main bathroom from living room with another 4 steps down to bedroom. If you need to visit the bathroom during the night, leave the bathroom light on to navigate from bedroom to bath to avoid falling on the steps. Our nightlight was not bright enough to light the way.
Great location for train station and the wall for lovely walks. Pasticceria Dianda is around the corner for morning cappuccino and wonderful pastry. Wifi can be slow at times. Needed to reboot the router a few times when it stopped working. Other than that, the apartment is nicely decorated in a lovely palazzo for a comfortable stay.
Great layout for sharing, close proximity to the train station.
Thank you, Sonia, for a very nice stay! The apartment has a wonderful layout, with many different levels for sleeping. The lower floor has a laundry room and a half bath, along with a small room with a twin bed. The next floor is where you enter and the living room is small, but very comfortable. A few steps up take you to a very nice kitchen which had some basics such as tea and instant coffee which was welcomed. From the hall off the kitchen, you have a choice between the spiral stairs which leads to the ensuite bedroom and bath, or at the other end of the hall, and a few steps down, to a very large bedroom with the bathroom just outside the door in the hallway. The entrance is from a courtyard which cuts down on street noises. A beautiful place with a very friendly and helpful manager, Sonia. She went out and bought bikes for us as they had apparently been stolen! There is a staircase which leads to the garage from the courtyard and it is safe to leave the bikes there. The location is only a block from the wall, with a ramp there for access to the path on the top of the wall. That is also the way to get to the train station, which is an easy walk, even with luggage.
Dear Nancy, thank you for taking time to write the review. It was very nice to meet you and I am glad you all enjoyed your time at the apartment and had great time in Lucca! Best regards, Sonia :)
Had to move due to Jackhammer Construction out the window
the apartment itself was lovely and sunny. the living room was quite small and the kitchen was tiny. it was spotless and the beds were amazingly comfortable. Sonia, the property manager was great.
but we had to move after one day as construction directly outside the window in the courtyard was going on all month. WITH JACKHAMMERS. I think the owner should have told us or made it more clear to the property manager. The management company (Sonia) was great helping us move to a different apartment.
Thank you very much for your kind review! Yes during the stay of Mrs Karen workers came to fix a water pipe obstruction in the wall outside the windows of the apartment so they used a jackhammer. This was something unexpected. I immediately offered the guests an upgrade into a nicer and bigger apartment and even if the new apartment was more expensive I did not charge any fee to the guests. My guests' satisfaction is my main concern. Sonia
Lucca, beautiful city, famous for its monumental 15th century fortified wall. But dig a little deeper and you find that its winding medieval streets actually follow the plan laid out by the Romans in 180BC. And before the Romans, Lucca was one of the major centres of Etruria, the ancient country of central Italy that more or less corresponds to modern Tuscany. Unsurprisingly then, Lucca is steeped in history. Your twelfth century building is just a small part of that. There are museums and churches, and the magnificent cathedral, the Duomo di San Martino, is the town’s finest Romanesque building, its impressive façade a triumph of sculpture, carving and inlay work – at just five minutes’ walk from the apartment. Modern delights include terrific restaurants, bars and shops, all within a few minutes’ walk. In Lucca’s winding streets, the pedestrian comes before the car, so you can move at your own pace. In fact wandering the streets is one of the great pleasures of the city.
