This idyllic award winning design home exquisitely decorated with a blend of antiques and contemporary furniture was completed for the summer 2007. It is set in a beautiful meadow on the outskirts of Edgartown. Recently added is a solar heated salt chlorinated 16 ft X 32 ft inground pool landscaped with cabana with half bath available for exclusive use by guests at 23 Jennie Lane.
The luxurious 3000 square foot living area features 10-12 foot ceilings, a spacious living room and a sun/family room with a surround sound entertainment center. The dining area seats 8-10 and is conveniently placed with access to the fully equipped kitchen with top of the line appliances including two dishwashers.
A lovely country porch overlooking the meadow on the sunset side provides a wonderful setting for relaxing in a hammock or country rockers after a day at the beach or touring the island. The blue stone patio allows for great outdoor dining with a 6 person hot tub for gazing at the stars on those clear Vineyard nights.
Newly added for 2011 is a recreation/entertainment room. Included is an elliptical machine and stationary bike, table tennis, surround sound high definition TV. Great for those days that weather might limit outdoor activity or just a get away from the main stream of the house activity.
Bill and Betty Jean started planning to build this house shortly after they added the studio to the guest house already built on the property. The plan was to have a retirement home with the ability to generate income to keep the property constantly updated and renewed. Now that the plan has actually come into an actuality it has fulfilled our wildest expectations.
The Owner purchased this house in 2007
Martha's Vineyard was the perfect location and having Betty Jean's sister there made it an actual possiblity that would never have come to be. Her unique and creative ideas were the cornerstone for this wonderful property and all it has become.
The home in the meadow is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the quiet natural loveliness of the island after a wonderful day of island activities. Sitting in the hot tub enjoying the starfilled sky and sounds of nature all around make it a marvelous end to a fun filled day on the Vineyard. The solar heated salt chlorinated pool also provides a wonderful way to spend family time after a busy day. The newly added rec/entertainment room is a great place to start the day with exercise and end it with a movie or game of table tennis.
Thank you for the most peaceful & comfortable vacation we have ever had. Your home is amazing - so pristine and beautiful. Betty Jean, your presence nearby was a constant comfort & we loved getting to know you and see you at work in your garden. This truly has been a "home away from home" for us. The beaches were amazing but even better was coming home, making a pot of tea & sitting in the living room & looking our your beautiful windows. Lucas & Alex will not forget our friendly flock of turkeys and of course the afternoons playing ball in the pool. It's hard to leave... but we take so many wonderful memories w/us.
Three close families booked the two homes in this charming, spacious Edgartown compound and had a wonderful week. The setting was idyllic, relaxing and quiet. The dirt road leading to the homes felt remote at first but the location proved to be fairly convenient to town and biking once we more familiar with the area. We also were close to the amazing Morning Glory Organic Store, which was helpful for stocking the kitchen. Moreover, the compound had everything needed on the beautifully landscaped grounds including 2 hot tubs, a pool with lounge chairs and a hammock. The homes are well-designed with modern amenities and homey touches including sun porches, comfortable beds; a recreation/fitness room with a pingpong table, fitness bike and a elliptical machine; washer/dryer, well-appointed kitchen and a generous veranda style porch. The owners were accommodating and helpful during our stay. Our only regret was not being closer to the beach but we found a fairly private beach about 15 minutes away by car that we thoroughly enjoyed. In sum, the accommodations more than fulfilled our expectations and we hope to return in the future.
We booked this beautiful property with high expectations and they were exceeded! The grounds, the home, and the pool and hot tub were all perfect. The owners could not have been any more gracious and accommodating and were very helpful.
The home was immaculate and had everything anyone could want. It was perfect for both our base of operations on the island as well as fun evenings cooking and enjoying the relaxing atmosphere that is embodied in this wonderful setting. We enjoyed mornings on the porch, afternoons at the pool, and even late night fun in the hot tub. We ate breakfast on the beautiful back patio and two fabulous dinners on the huge farmhouse dining table. There is a great kitchen for the most discerning chef, very comfortable beds and furniture, and fantastic bathrooms.
We could not have been happier and look forward to staying here again very soon.
After driving down the winding New England path, you come to a group of houses nestled in the middle of a meadow. You can't help but notice the well kept lawn, blooming flowers, and a sparkling swimming pool. When you enter the main house you know you've come home. Rooms are tastefully furnished, yet very comfortable with many conveniences. You can work out, play ping-pong, or just relax in your own hot tub.
Bill and Betty Jean live on site, yet they are almost invisible, as are the renters in the nearby "Guest House." But Bill or Betty Jean are always available if there is a problem, or if you need directions, a recommendation, or a short chat. True, the house is not in the middle of town or directly on the beach; it is located mid-Island, convenient to everywhere. Do you want to take a bike ride, go to the beach, or browse in town? Jennie Lane is just a short drive there.
This was our fourth trip to Jennie Lane, and we can't think of staying anywhere else. It is one of the most relaxing and reasonable spots on Martha's Vineyard.
My husband and I recently had an amazing stay in this well-maintained and sparkling-clean house! With its cozy fireplaces and lush bath towels, it definitely is a great place to chill! The rooms are large and spacious, the beds are comfy and the kitchen is stocked with anything you may need. Nothing but quality....all the way down to the paper towels! The owners, Betty Jean and Bill, couldn't have been more friendly or helpful with their local knowledge. We highly recommend this rental if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay with all the amenities of home!!
My wife and I stayed here the week of Labor Day. It was a really nice spot. They did an exceptional job on the house and everything is maintained at an excellent standard. We had a group of friends out while we were there and it was plenty of space for 8 of as well. Betty Jean and Bill are very attentive and helpful and they have truly built a magnificent property.
Thanks again for having us out!
We stayed at this lovely house for three weeks this Summer with our three young children. The house is even more beautiful, spacious and superbly maintained than the pictures suggest. The location is very convenient as it is only a short drive to Tisbury, Egdartown, Vineyard Haven, Chilmark and Oak Bluffs. And, most importantly next to one of the best beaches on the Island (Long Point). The pool was a great place to relax in the afternoon and our kids loved it. Betty Jean and Bill are wonderful hosts and maintain the property with a lot of love and dedication. And the porch at sunset is just perfect.
