La Basse Cour is a stunningly beautiful B&B on the border of Normandy and Pays de Loire. This 18th century Normandy farmhouse is set by a fishing lake, with acres of gardens filled with flowers and forest views. 8km to Alencon and 40km to Le Mans.
Choose from 3 immaculate, individually styled guest rooms with full en-suite facilities, including one room with twin beds. Large, modern baths and showers. Electric heating and heated towel rails. Radio, hair dryer, toiletries, wifi.
On the first floor, next to the bedrooms, a guest salon with library and board games are at your disposal.
Outside are two acres of landscaped and well-tended gardens, two sheltered terraces with flowers, garden furniture and outdoor games.
There are many local gardens and chateaux to visit while for those venturing further afield we are halfway between Paris and the Normandy coast, we are equidistant from the famous Chartres cathedral and the Normandy Landing Beaches, either of which is accessible for day trips.
We accept children over 8 years of age; we do not take younger children or pets and the house is non-smoking.
Originally from NE England we lived in Kent for 20-odd years before deciding to move to France in 2004. We have been running La Basse Cour since 2005 and have created the gardens from scratch in that time.
Phil and Jude purchased this farmhouse in 2004
Being on the border of Normandy and the Pays de la Loire the summers are usually long and warm. We are surrounded by beautiful forest and countryside with many interesting places to visit - gardens, chateaux and pretty villages. Ideal for walkers, and bikers who don't mind hills!
We have poured our heart and soul into ensuring La Basse Cour with its terraces and gardens is one of the most beautiful B&Bs you could wish to stay in - and in 20-odd years of French holidays we have stayed in a lot!
We stayed for two nights quite recently and we were treated as honoured guests. We enjoyed meeting other guests as well as wandering in the beautiful and extensive garden that has been developed with such care and effort.
Comfort is excellent as is the bountiful breakfast. Setting La Basse Cour apart is the excellent sitting area with masses of local information and suggestions for visits in the area.
If you want quality at a most reasonable rate then this is for you!
Ancinnes is located north of Le Mans, a perfect base for exploring Lower Normandy and north of the Pays de la Loire. 10 minutes from the A28, stop for a few nights and see a lovely region little known to the British tourist but beloved of the French. Le Mans is just 30 minutes (40km) away and for those interested in the 70th Anniversary of the Normandy Landings the Normandy Landing Beaches are 90km away.
