About Chris Rotsey

I've been skiing every year since 1973 and absolutely love it. I know the Val d'Isère and Tignes ski area really well and can offer helpful advice to our clients.

Chris Rotsey purchased this apartment in 1988

Why Chris Rotsey chose Val Claret

I bought this property because of the great location and fantastic views from the balcony. It is rented out to pay the mortgage and, because we use it a lot ourselves, it is maintained to a high standard.

Excellent location, excellent apartment.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is well furnished, very comfortable and well equipped. Very comfortable beds, excellent shower with plenty of hot water. Perfect for a family of 4 but would also work fine for 6 people. Location is pretty unbeatable in Val Claret - ski straight to the door at the end of the day, and a very short walk (2 minutes max) across the road to ski to the lifts/ski school in the mornings. Shops, supermarket and cafes all within a short walk. We also booked the underground car-parking space which is close by and very handy. The owner was always quick to respond and very helpful. Instructions and directions to the property were also excellent and very accurate and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend this apartment and would definitely re-book in future.

Owner's Response: We are very pleased that this family enjoyed their stay so much. We do make every effort to ensure things run as smoothly as possible and as a result more than a third of our bookings each year are from guests who have stayed before. We would be delighted to welcome this family again.

Fantastic Apartment ( Hameau du Borsat)

  • 5 of 5

What a great time we had in this apartment, we arrived in the early hours of the morning and easily found it, everything you need was provided in the apartment, it was clean well appointed with a lovely balcony where we could actually see bikers coming down the mountain and lots of the furry Marmots on the hill. It is compact like all the other apartments in the area but all that you need and comfotable beds too, we were 2 adults and 2 teenagers 14 & 16) we all enjoyed it.

Chris the owner was very helpful, we had a problem with the keyfob for underground parking which was remedied the same day.

It was our first time on an activity holiday and our main mission was mountainbiking which worked out great being so close to all lifts, we really enjoyed ourselves and made use of the Tignes Open cards provided by the property. Thanks again Chris i'm sure we will be back.

Owner's Response: It was great to hear that Sonja and her family enjoyed their first summer trip to the Alps. There is so much to do and I hope they will tell all their friends about the summer activities in Tignes.

Hammeau du Borsat. Great apartment.

  • 5 of 5

Great apartment in a wonderful location. Right on the edge of the slopes so wonderful views up the mountain. We were there in the summer and it's an easy walk to all parts of Val claret and to the shuttle bus. Nice flat with comfy beds. Lovely big balcony. Highly recommend.

Good location

  • 4 of 5

It would appear that the majority of apartments in the area are small. Our apartment was compact, but it was very well equipped, well laid out, comfortable and clean. It was situated at the far end of Tignes Val Claret, so it was lovely and peaceful with a pleasant view. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony every evening. The owner provided excellent customer service throughout our dealings with him. I would definitely recommend this apartment to anyone.

The area of Tignes is a fantastic place to spend a summer holiday. The scenery is spectacular. We went there for the hiking and bought an excellent pack of 25 walks, each with their own leaflet, from the Tourist office. It is a designated bike park with endless tracks to choose from. Around Tignes there are so many activities for all the family eg a huge water slide, tennis, beach volleyball, canoeing and crazy golf, to name a few. You can walk to the funicular and cable car up to the glacier on Grand Motte, where there is skiing and snowboarding, even in July. We only ate out one evening, but the food at the Pignatta Italian restaurant was superb.

Owner's Response: Many people do not realise the full extent of things to do in the summer. We are able to provide the Sportignes cards - http://www.tignes.net/fr/sports-en-ete/carte-sportignes-850.html and http://www.tignes.net/11330 - free of charge. These give taster sessions for a wide range of activities.

Our flats are in Val Claret, the highest point of Tignes at 2,200m . There is easy access to Val d'Isere's skiing from Val Claret by either of two high speed 6-person chair lifts. The Grande Motte glacier can be reached by the underground 'Funiculaire' and offers excellent summer and autumn skiing.

WiFi is available for a small supplement. It includes access to the four UK iPlayers.

Ski: Val d'Isere and Tignes share what is probably one of the top five ski areas in Europe with a fantastic range of 200+ runs for everyone from beginner to expert serviced by 120 lifts. There is now a good choice of ski schools and this competition has certainly raised standards.

Tignes is the summer skiing capital of Europe but there are many other activities here and at Val d'Isere including golf, tennis, mountain biking, fishing, white water rafting, sailing, etc. Val d'Isere and Tignes are on the edge of the Vanoise National Park and only 40 miles from the Little St Bernard pass into Italy which makes a great day out.
