Nice location to explore the Poconos. We had a wonderful vacation. Brought a kayak with us and enjoyed the lake. House was spacious and comfortable. Owners very courteous and helpful.

Stunning and amazing!!!

  • 5 of 5

Unbelievable property ideally located on low traffic lake and development. The house was enormous and the pictures don't do it enough justice as to how lovely it is. As far as the house: Kitchen has a center cooking space which is great for having more than one person help make the meal. Smart TV keeps you connected to apps for music and movies, and wifi is perfect. Huge deck for dining al fresco. Master suite is enormous, private and has jacuzzi and sauna. Lots of windows allows you to take in the lake from everywhere. Located ideally, you can walk or kayak from house to beach in less than 10 minutes, hiking trail is 2 min walk from driveway. The entire development is in pristine shape and very clean, no garbage lying about like some others. Felt very safe letting kids go to and from beach, low traffic development. Lake water is clear and makes for great swimming and fishing. Owners are very responsive to any questions about house and area, and communication was prompt and easy. Highly recommend!!!

Beautiful home but be aware that some basic amenities are not provided

  • 3 of 5

This home is very nice, located in beautiful setting on the lake, is large, clean, and well maintained. It sleeps a lot of people really well. There is an extensive game room. If I were rating the property I would give it five stars.

But, we were very disappointed by the lack of basic amenities and for that reason I am giving it three stars. We arrived late and quickly realized that we needed to supply ourselves with some of basic items. Because it is a more rural property, there aren't a lot of stores close by to shop for these things. I would recommend you read the amenity list very carefully as there are some basic amenities that the owner does not provide that you might expect at this price point. For instance, there are no kitchen or bathroom towels provided, in our case there were only bed linens for four people, and no additional rolls of toilet paper, etc. If you plan to cook a lot, the equipment in the kitchen is limited to very basic items -- -- pots, pans, drinking glasses, coffee cups, plates, a coffee maker, mixing bowls, utensils, a strainer, some basic seasonings, and a lobster pot. You really have to bring in anything beyond that including things like storage containers, dish soap, napkins, etc. The water is turned off when you arrive and even if you are familiar with rural properties, turning it on the well isn't that obvious , so make sure you know how to do this before you arrive. Fortunately, for the water issue, the owner was available and could direct us on how to turn on the well. There may have been internet, but the instructions were not obvious there either.

Overall, it is a very nice place, but probably most suitable for people who live close enough to drive to this destination and can bring towels, linens, and kitchen items with them their car.

Beautiful lake house

This home is perfect for our group! Each of the bedrooms has its own bathroom which is perfect for our group of 4 couples, each with one child. The kitchen is spacious along with plenty of room to eat! Great place to relax!

Wonderful winter weekend

  • 5 of 5

Spent the weekend with our children and grandchildren. We made all of our meals at the house and the kitchen had everything we needed. We had plenty of room to hang out. It had snowed and the view out to the yard and the lake was beautiful.

Excellent, oversized, very well maintained property. Spacious, warm, bathrooms everywhere.

  • 5 of 5

Pros:

Big, open, bright, airy, living spaces. Not "compartmentalized" living areas like many other properties.

Lots of bathrooms which is a huge convenience for rental houses.

Oversized kitchen for stocking lots of groceries and big prep spaces if you plan to cook.

Beautiful views, surrounded by trees so there is good privacy, set back from the main road outdoors are pretty safe for kids.

House is relatively baby-proof. It was safe even for our toddler to roam around (and a high chair is there as a bonus amenity).

Tons and tons of deck space with a view right off the main living area.

Many more pro's, too many to list, overall just a very well maintained, very comfortable, very large house by the lake. It also feel brand new (or newly updated). Not like an old, stodgy rental property.

Met the owners as well and they couldn't be nicer.

Cons:

No cons on the house itself. I definitely expect a return visit to Gouldsboro.

Just to be fair and balanced in this review, we did not explore the vicinity area, go skiing, require groceries, or need entertainment for kids. We stayed 2 days within the private community so i cant comment on how close anything is or on any parts of Gouldsboro itself. This house was all we needed for a relaxing lake retreat so we basically didnt leave it!
