About Karen Hamilton
I have lived in Montgomery County my entire life growing up in Black Springs on an animal farm with cattle, swine, chickens, a dog or two and my trusty mare. When I drove 27 N to college I would pass by many beautiful places but I was always drawn to the Sweet Home neighborhood. As fate would have it, 20 years later I would own part of the neighborhood. My husband and I have enjoyed working on our little farm, building and remodeling things for the past 20 years. I am a retired teacher and Jody is a retired mechanic but we still have full-time jobs running our automotive parts store in Mt. Ida and having fun with our grandchildren.
Karen Hamilton purchased this House in 2016

We had an awesome stay. The house is very beautiful and well kept. Being located right on the highway was not ideal, but if you can ignore the traffic and stay out back, which we did, then you should also enjoy this property.
Glad your group had a good time, out back is definitely the place to be.
3 General Girl's Trip to Ar
First experience with VRBO and we were blown away! Met the fascinating owner and the home was beyond our expectations! All the folks we encountered in Mt. Ida were so friendly and shared their personal stories of how they came to visit and ended up falling in love with the area and moved there!
Thank you Betty for your kind words. Mt. Ida really is a friendly place and so glad yall enjoyed your stay. See you again sometime.
Lovely country getaway
Beautiful, comfortable home in the country! Spacious house, comfortable beds, everything clean as a whistle, and charming retro/'70s décor. Located on a couple of acres with woods, a large pond and an old cottage/cabin to explore. Greatly enjoyed the firepit (wood and kindling provided) and the frogs, owls, and other creatures around the pond. Be sure to spend some time outside at night; rural location makes for a very dark sky and great stargazing. Wish we could have stayed longer; will definitely be back.
Having lived in the country all my life I sometimes forget about the things we have advantage of. Stargazing has always been one of my favs. Glad yall enjoyed Pearl's Palace.
Excellent location, fair price for a cozy cabin. I will definitely rent again next year!
So glad you all enjoyed our little area of the quartz crystal capital of the world. Come back anytime!
Excelente propiedad con todo lo que necesitas. Pasos una linda navidad con nuestra familia y paseamos x algunos lugares alrededor.
Lamento que no haya nevado, pero me alegra que su familia haya tenido una linda Navidad.
Can’t say enough WONDERFUL things!!!
Family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids ages 6 and 9) This place is everything we were hoping for and more! It’s an adorable place on a beautiful property that is close enough, but also far enough away from it all. Of course it rained for the first few days of our trip so we were not able to enjoy the outdoor space as much as we wanted to. Outside there were swings in the trees, chairs by the amazing pond, tons of outdoor games for kids, a 2 car carport with tables and chairs (great for us to enjoy outside even though it was raining), and of course, a fire pit with room for PLENTY people. Inside there were games too! Even though we weren’t able to enjoy the outdoor area as much as we wanted, there were plenty of games inside as well and all in GREAT condition. The home is close to Wegner crystal mines (about 15mins) and has views of lake and TONS of hiking trails ALL AROUND within 10-15mins as well. We also enjoyed going to mountain Harbor riding stables which was also close by. We ended up heading into hot springs 2 days of our trip and even that was only about 45 mins away! Karen THANK YOU for being so great from beginning to end, we will absolutely be back!!
Thank you Amy. I'm glad yall enjoyed your rainy vacation at Pearl's Palace. Come back again sometime.
You can hike, bike or drive to the top of Hickory Nut Mountain to enjoy one of the top 5 best vistas in the Ouachitas.

And of course don't forget Mount Ida is the Quartz Crystal Capital of the World if you would like to do a little diggin'.
Only 2.5 miles to the nearest rifle range.
Last but not least the beautiful Ouachita River has some great kayak/canoeing options along with clear water diving in Lake Ouachita.
Deer and squirrel are pretty abundant for the hunters with occasional turkey and bear.
Saturday nights enjoy The Montgomery County Front Porch Stage for great live music. (Just bring your lawn chairs.)
