Waterloo Apartment Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms (queensize and twin), two bathrooms, max 5

The area is interesting, being walking distance from many South Bank attractions and City of London, and served well by transport links making the West End only a few stops away. Within walking distance are such major attractions as the South Bank, Borough Food Market, the Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, the Millennium Bridge to St Pauls Cathedral, the financial City of London, Tower Bridge. 5-10 minutes on the Jubilee Line will bring you to the West End, Buckingham Palace and St James Park/Green Park, the Ritz, Piccadilly, Soho etc.

The flat is modern and fully equipped; bedding and furniture is of a high standard.

Transport: 1 and 5 minutes walk from Northern and Jubilee Lines at Borough High Street and London Bridge. Or you can use the Northern Line to Covent Garden in a few stops. In fact, London Bridge is closer to Soho than Soho is to South Kensington.

PLEASE NOTE: This apartment is one of two we have in London Bridge, the other being off Bermondsey Street, post code SE1 2FB. We can normally allocate your booking to the preferred apartment. The other apartment is listed on VRBO: VRBO 347421. If you definitely do not want to be allocated to either apartment, please discuss with us because we need to consider our bookings schedule.

Terms and conditions: Our terms specify that short term guests may stay as licensees (or sharers) only and not as lessees unless staying for a duration of at least six months when an assured short term letting will be agreed.

Hello John and a Happy New Year to you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at [ID 162500] and would very much like to include the apartment in our plans for future stays in London. We would also like to compliment [welcome staff] for the excellent way she handled our check in and provision of additional bedding when my family came to stay for a couple of nights.

Excellent property for a family group.

  • 5 of 5

The flat was as described, clean and in good shape. Yukiko advised about the kitchen appliances etc. and brought a big fan / hooked up the a.c. for the day of 90 degree temps. - We were a grandma and daughter-husband and two 12 year olds, who stayed in the second bedroom. I slept in the livingroom. We closed the balcony door before retiring as in the summer with the very short nights, the birds otherwise woke me up. - The location was excellent, just a short walk from the tube stop. A Tesco was nearby for provisions; the Borough Market was amazing - and ah, the gelato place. - Happy to chat further with anyone interested in booking this unit.

Spacious and clean flat in great location!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful flat in a great location close to the Tube, the Thames, and other major London sites. Originally we had selected a different rental that was terrible and had to find a new rental that same day (after flying in from the US). John was quick to reply to my inquiry and we moved to his wonderful flat within the hour. The flat was clean, had lots of room, and was a perfect location for our daily adventures in London and the surrounding countryside. Noise from the street was NOT a problem for us. There is a little noise but it is to be expected when staying in the city center of a vibrant city like London. We would definitely recommend this flat to our friends!

This was a great place to stay with family

  • 4 of 5

This was very clean, within walking distance to Borough Market and really quick walk to the trains. It was just as advertised and very convenient. Great place to stay with family with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. The only drawback is it was summer and no AC. It was noisy when the bars get out. But otherwise it was really great.

Owner's Response: There IS an air conditioning unit in the livingroom, just to plug in and turn on. It can vent through the smaller kitchen window. It is a substantial unit, this traveller seems not to have realised what it was. The livingroom is south facing with glass balcony doors, which is why we have the air conditioner and also window film which reduces sun heat by 60%. The trick is to keep the doors and window covers closed during the hottest part of the day - the afternoon. The evenings always cool down and the sun is indirect. This is important, but unfortunately people come in from the hot weather, having walked and exercised, and rather than slowing down and relaxing, they think, gosh (outside) it's hot, better open the windows..., or else they leave the blinds and windows open in the morning when it's cool and then are out for the afternoon when it's hot. The sun especially heats up the interior like a battery charger and that heat is slow to dissipate in the evening. It can be difficult to convince a group of several people just off a long flight that it is a good idea to keep the windows closed in the afternoons. By evening, it is almost too late as it is slow to cool. Except for the AC unit. It helps to know to use the AC machine in the corner. Though if you are targeting say 20C with the AC machine and it is 22C outside, it also makes sense to keep the windows closed, otherwise you're just warming the air you've just cooled. Now, if you leave the bedroom windows open and go to bed at 11-11.30pm, of course you'll hear the bubble of any conversation and any car that goes past. Note that Swan Street is a cul de sac. We have 'Boris' bikes on the street, and the pub at the corner is subject to normal licencing laws about hours of trading. If there was ongoing complaints, it would not be licensed. However, as I say, to block out almost all noise, the trick is to keep the flat cool during the afternoon, then you can close the bedroom patio door in the evening and draw the heavy interlined curtains for a quiet night. Even if the flat became warm, you can open the windows on the opposite side of the flat in the livingroom which faces the courtyard, and plug in the AC unit, set to target a temperature of about 18-20C and it will turn off naturally as the night is cooler but you get the circulation from the fan also. In short, on arrival or later by email or phone, just ask the owner for some advice on this and we'll point out anything you need.

Excellent flat for families or groups of up to 6

  • 5 of 5

Although we only spent a few hours in the apartment we immediately had the feeling we had made the perfect choice for our short stay in London. The flat is in a very good location, a 1 min. walk from the Borough underground at children's pace. Besides, it has literally everything you might need for much longer periods, it is perfectly mantained and offers plenty of space for families with up to 4 children or small groups. The "reception"-lady, Yukiko, was also very kind, so: No doubt we will try to come back in case we need a place in London.

A great place to start a walk and a very 'strategic' location to base a holiday.... Nearby landmarks all along the South Bank include the Borough Food Market, Southwark Cathedral, the Tate Modern Gallery of Modern Art, the Shakespeare Globe Theatre, the Millennium Bridge, linking to St Pauls Cathedral. The area doesn't have many clothing shops and department stores, but London Bridge Jubilee Line has a direct link to Bond St etc.

Other Activities: Two gyms are nearby, one has daily membership, the other has monthly membership and pool. Bikram Yoga studio in Magdalen Street. Plenty of restaurants in the area. Southwark Playhouse theatre and Globe Theatre within a short walk.
