Location: perfect for village hopping, as the write-up tells. Quiet town, yet full of schoolchildren running for the bus and old timers sipping at the café bar. Laundry hanging above the alley, a step back in time. The attached house is large and clean. It maintains the antique charm, from the floor tiles to the steep stone staircase leading to 3 huge bedrooms. Great restaurants in town, a marche and we were there for a festa with all homemade goods on 9/27. Antonella is a terrific host and showed us her other home with lovely apartments for lease. Don't be afraid of this rental. Wonderful is an understatement! (we are 3 retired women, appreciative of charm over glitz)
Charming, spacious home located in the heart of a medieval village. Fabulous location for touring the hills of Tuscany. Antonella was friendly and helpful, willing to work through our language barrier. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, feeling like we were part of the village. At no time did we feel uncomfortable or unsafe (we are 3 retired women) we recommend Casa Lina highly!
My Husband had a fall just before arrival so the stairs in Casa Lina were too steep and too many for him. We explained to Antonella the owner, amidst lots of sign language and laughter after which she happily moved us to a room in Il Cassero in which we were very comfortable and happy. Luigi and Antonella were always greeting us and there for anything we needed. Lucignano is the most beautiful place to visit, highly recommend it.
We were very satisfied to live here.
Casa Lina is a nice property in a small village that is not at all touristy. The furnishings and decorations are comfortable but rather formal. The steps to the second floor are very steep so be warned if you have small children or weak knees! It took a few days to warm the property up (mid-winter, especially the large lounge room. A drying rack for clothes would have been very useful.
Our (four adults) rental at Casa Lina was for four weeks during September 2011. Casa Lina is in the town of Lucignano, which was built in the late 1300’s. The apartment, which overlooks the main entrance into town, has two modern bathrooms and kitchen, very confortable beds, numerous bedroom closets, more than adequate lighting in the bedrooms for reading and was extremely clean. The swimming pool located over a mile out of town was large, well maintained and a welcome treat during a heat spell. The owners, Luigi and Andolina were helpful and gracious.
Our favorite two restaurants in town were Nice People and Lo Schicchero. Andrea Baccheschi from Tuscany Wines (http://www.tuscanywines.it/), who escorted us on wine tours during previous stays, provided an excellent selection of wines.
