The property is in need of updating, wall paper in bathrooms peeling, windows need replacing, etc.
Upon arrival we found that the bed in the master bedroom is ridiculously high and extremely difficult to get in and out of. It wasn't until the next day, after we had gone out and bought a step stool, that we found the unstable, little fold-up stool in the closet. But, we needed 2 stools anyway so we kept the one we purchased as it was more stable.
The bathtub in the master bath is very awkward to get in and out of which could be helped with a grab bar on the window end of the tub.
I would suggest that your housekeeping service needs to be more diligent as there were cobwebs in the corners, dried up food waste under the chair and couch cushions, splashes of blood on the inside of one of the master bathroom vanity doors and the shower curtain liner needs to be replaced.
There is a gap around the bathroom windows that allows insects to get in so I put some of the blue masking tape (that I found in the kitchen) on the area, after we discovered a wasp nest inside, on the upper part of the window frame.
Also when the cottage was power washed the pressure forced water in around those windows and soaked the blinds and floors as well as the carpet in the master bedroom.
Overall we did enjoy our stay at the plantation because of the natural beauty and quiet of the area. Sheila Joyner was very helpful with those issues we brought to her attention. We resolved the minor annoyances ourselves but feel that you as owners need to be aware of maintenance issues.
I am very sorry to hear that the bed was too high. You are the very first ones to mention that. If you had contacted Sheila we would have purchased you a step.
Your other issues you mentioned have been dealt with.
I really appreciate your help with the windows on the day of power washing. After you departed we had a carpenter come look at the windows and according to him the windows were not sealed properly when our siding was replaced by the association. So we had him fix and caulk all the windows.
Thank you for bringing these items to our attention and we are glad you overall enjoyed your stay.
Wachesaw Plantation is such a beautiful place we are very lucky to have such a place to come to now and then and to open our cottage up to others to enjoy.
We hope you will consider our cottage again should you be coming to the area.
Comfortable cottage in beautiful setting
Well furnished cottage at Wachesaw Plantation provided us with the perfection location to explore the Murrells Inlet area. The owner and cottage manager were responsive to our rental questions as well as staff at Wachesaw. Cleaning and paper products were amply supplied; the cottage is close to supermarkets, seafood stores, restaurants and other necessities. Particularly we enjoyed being near Brookgreen Garden, other preservation areas along Route 17 but in a quiet community.
It was great being back in Wachesaw - our home for 24 years. The cottage was absolutely beautiful, and well appointed with comfortable beds and relaxing space. The plantation is absolutely breath taking and we enjoyed walking the dog under those magnificent oak lined roads.
Thank you !
Quiet but perfect for kids. Pool area was perfect people very nice
Wedding at Wachesaw Plantation
We spent the weekend in Wachesaw Plantation for a wedding. It is a beautiful setting on the river, golf course surroundings, and beautiful greenery. We didn't spend much time in the cottage but what we did we felt the cottage was dated and dark. It was clean and convenient for our weekend and the name does fit "Quiet Serenity Cottage". The parking spaces area was very dark at night but that adds to the serenity of the area. Overall the stay was great and we will always tell our friends and family to check out The Cottages at Wachesaw Plantation.
Thank you for your review and for staying at our cottage. We appreciate your comments and we do agree that the outside area during the night is dark. Although like you said, that adds to the ambiance of the plantation and the huge southern oaks. We do look forward to hosting you or your friends again at "Serenity".
I love the cottage, it works for us.
The cottage is very nice, and we like where it is. This was the third year that we have stayed at the cottage. I come down for a conference this time every year. I don't know if It was me or the mattress but it did not sleep very well. Look and see how old the mattress is ,it may need to be changed out. Everything else was great. Looked for a muffin pan and did not find one. Will you please get one for the cottage. The unit was very clean and Sheila is very good to work with. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks.
Thank you for your review....We too love our cottage.
We will definitely check out the mattress situation and will make sure there is a muffin pan for you next year. Thanks again, it is always a pleasure having you in our cottage.
