Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

A 2000 sq.ft roof garden, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, lounge, open plan kitchen

A 1000 sq ft penthouse with a broad, open view of downtown Rome skyline from a huge roof garden (2000 sq.ft). The garden hosts many plant species, even some trees, mostly from the mediterranean flora, with all their scents, colours, flowers and fruits. All organically grown. In a corner a shade arbor (equipped with a huge 'Nastro Azzurro' old showcase fridge) is the right place to have a drink or a snack in a hot summer day. At night the dining table is face to face with the everlasting city, perfect whether if you are catching some fresh air after a boiling day or having a barbecue night, watching birds as they migrate or New Year's Eve firework bursting all over the sky with a champagne bottle at hand. Almost all year round in Rome the outdoor space can be really enjoyable. All the rooms (except for bathrooms) have direct access to it. The two bedrooms have even a little private green space outside their french windows. In the large and sunny lounge covered with books a double sofa bed adds 2 comfortable sleeping accomodation. A 40' smart tv, an old iron stove, a roman amphora and some nice piece of antiques put the finishing touches to this warm and cozy space facing south. Plenty of sunshine comes in through three double french doors leading to the outside. The apartment features also two bathrooms (one of which en-suite with a shower, the other with a double bath tub ) a wide dining room facing an open plan kitchen fully equipped (electric oven, washing machine, dishwasher, freezer, refrigerator, scale, professional microwave oven, steam iron, liquidizer, kneader, foreman grill). The flat is provided with central heating, air conditioning, hot water, wifi, parquet flooring.

About Elisabetta

I'm a lady of a certain age, but I still keep all the peculiar traits of my generation: curiosity, creative energy, intolerance of rules and conventions, and a touch of old sound recklessness. They used to call us the babyboomers and we invented new ways to live our teenage years, our adulthood, parenthood, womenhood, manhood and whateverelsehood...All we can do now is to find an alternative and exciting way to get old . I was a medicine student for a long while, but I couldn't afford to graduate. I worked in many different fields with some success. Catering, design and graphic design were my favorites. Now I'm into organic farming. I live most of the time in a little farm near the sea, south of Rome, experimenting my way with permaculture. In the winter time, when the farm goes to sleep and the birds fly southward, I go north to stay with my daughter in London.

Elisabetta purchased this apartment in 2005

Why Elisabetta chose Rome

When I choose to moove in this area I choose at the same time to go back in a place full of memories. But I was more attracted by the big changes happened in this area since I was young. Until short time ago a multiethnic neighbourhood in Rome was utterly unthinkable: we didn't have enough strangers. Nothing to melting down in ol' Rome pot since ages. Now our area may even be described as a sort of Chinatown.I thought it was funny, after all my traveling and living away, going back home at last and find myself in a chineese district. I'm still surprised when a young east asian fellow citizen cheers the local football team and swears in perfect roman dialect. I didn't think it was possible here

What makes this apartment unique

The reason why I fell in love with this flat at first sight was the feeling to be so surprisingly close to the nature here, and at the same time to be able to enjoy all the benefits of urban life.

Sunshine, moonligth, stars, blue birds, storms.... Downstairs you might even forget the sky, and this sounds really awful to me

Love this apartment!

  • 5 of 5

Although a little off the beat and path, this spacious and lovely apartment was full of character and super comfortable. The terrace and light were an added bonus. Elisabetta and her daughter were lovely and accommodating. I would highly recommend this apartment!

Nice apartment

  • 4 of 5

Met Roberto who was very nice and right on time. All communication with everyone was prompt. The apartment is exactly as described and depicted. The only problem encountered during the entire stay was the lack of air conditioning. I communicated with the owner who stated that it needed to be inspected before the hot season arrived. In May on the top floor the 2 85+ degree days we encountered made Air conditioners necessary. The lack of A/C required the couple in the 2nd bedroom without air flow to sleep on the couches for two nights. My only suggestion and the only reason it is not rated 5 stars is when communicating in a questionable time period explain that the A/C may not be available. In May it is certainly possible that hot days will occur since the apartment advertised A/C I did not question its availability, future renters may want to ask prior to booking.

Wonderful appartment in the heart of Rome

  • 5 of 5

End of may 2017 we spend some days with 4 Persons in the wonderful appartment of Elisabetta. It is exact discribed in the text and the photos. The rooms are cosy and equiped with aircon. The best thing was the huge roof terrace. It was a pleasure to sit there at the evening. Elisabettas daughter Giovanna introduced us and gave some helpful informations. The contact was very symphatic. Emails were replied fast.

We like to thank Elisabetta and Giovanna to be such nice hosts.

We can recommend the appartment without any restrictions.

traumhafte Tage in Rom / fantastic days in rome

  • 5 of 5

Danke Roberto jederzeit gerne wieder..

Lieben Gruß Tom

100% recommendation we were on time and friendly welcome from Roberto who accompanied us in the historical elevator to the 6th floor. The apartment is beautiful has a large kitchen, two bathrooms, two bedrooms and a cozy living room which is decorated like a library of an English country estate. From the apartment we were by subway immediately to all city attractions and things like grocery store or kiosk could be reached within 200 meters.

When we had questions or problem we could always call Roberto who then helped us friendly promptly.

The settlement of the deposit was fast and without problems of equip. I got a receipt and get back at the end of the 100 euro without problems immediately.

This apartment is in summer and spring with the huge terrace have a dream that we could not use it all at 14 degrees.

Thank you Roberto again any time ..

Kind regards Tom

The Esquilino is located upon the higher and wider of the celebrated Seven Hills of Rome and is right there since the VIth cent b.C. The area is near the Domus Aurea (Nero's Imperial Villa) and the Colosseum, here Mecenate built his famous villa and gardens. In Piazza Vittorio, hearth of the neighborhood, there are remains of two roman aqueducts meant to bring water to the imperial villas, gardens and public thermal baths. At the end of the XIX century the area was rebuilt as you can see it today, and in the last 20 years it became the main multiethnic neighbourhood in Rome. Close to Termini Railroad Station you can find a lot of touristic services, hotels and restaurants with international food.

The Esquilino market hall is a huge, popular, rich market stuffed with fresh vegetables, fruit, seafood, italian specialties, fresh meat, exotic items and people. It's right around the corner and it's worth a visit particularly if you are planning a homemade dinner

The Termini Railroad Station is very close. All the trains and bus to the airports leave frome here.

From Termini in a few minutes on foot you can reach three of the most interesting ancient churches in Rome (S. Giovanni, S. Maria Maggiore and Santa Croce in Gerusalemme).

200 yds away from the flat there is a Metro A subway station, (to Pzza di Spagna, Fontana di Trevi, Vatican Museum). The number 70 bus stops in via giolitti only 200 yds away. It goes to Piazza Argentina (a few hundred yards from Trastevere), Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona.

S.Lorenzo is in a few minute walking range: it's a nice student neighbourhood with good restaurants and vibrant nightlife. A little further (but the tram n5 stops down the street and gets you there very quickly) the Pigneto is the new up and coming area where smart young roman people go to have a drink and listen to the latest music.Young artists' hangout, lively and sleepless

By public transport you can easily reach two of the foremost archeological sites near Rome: OSTIA ANTICA (20' by train) and VILLA ADRIANA (30' by bus).
